The Vampire Diaries - Ian Somerhalder and Caroline Dries on the big death

25 Apr 2014

Enzo's new status: Ghost villain

So how much damage can Enzo really inflict on Damon and Stefan from the Other Side as revenge for killing his love Maggie back in the '60s? A lot more than you might expect.

"You just wait. Just wait and see," Dries says excitedly. "He can do a lot from the Other Side. He's determined to make Damon's life and Stefan's life a living hell. We realize how and why he's able to do that, and it's because all the turmoil on the Other Side is giving him more liberties than other ghosts have had. So his story isn't just about him being the villain but it's also about us getting a new set of eyes into this world, the Other Side world."

Sorry, but more big deaths are coming

Enzo's death won't be the only major one before this season is over. Dries was able to think of three ( three!) major deaths that will happen in the next few episodes, and she says they are permanent deaths. Gulp. Of course, she wouldn't say who was going to die, so start preparing for the worst.

  1. Three major deaths? These people are crazy

  2. All the fans are always complaining people aren't dying in this permanently anymore. Now that they're doing that, there's complaining for that too.Wow!!.Three deaths my guess-tyler,bonnie and either liv or luke.

  3. I think it's definitely Tyler, Liz (unfortunately, because she's great) and probably Liv. I personally think that yler has run his course as a character long time ago.

I lost a few brain cells reading the Damon and Elena part, though. It's ridiculous, they think they're this amazing "love" when most people just want the writers to MAKE.IT.STOP! I do agree with Ian here:

"It's always uncomfortable when you watch it. Like someone running their hands on a chalkboard."

Exactly! Preach! It's uncomfortable in the worst way possible. Thank you, Ian!

Death #1- Bonnie: they should have just let her stay dead from last season
Death #2 -Tyler: he lived out his usefulness as a character after the crap on The Originals, they shouldve just had Klaus kill him
Death #3 - Sheriff Forbes: create some drama for Caroline & finish up the clean up on useless background characters
Return from the Dead - Alaric: Elena dropped his name in the last ep & he's the only character that shouldve never been killed off

  5. I think they've toyed with Bonnie's death too many times now, it wouldn't have as much of an impact at least for me.

  6. Oh I hope you're right about Alaric, I really miss him. Could keep Damon sensible too. lol

  7. They have teased Bonnie's death so many times I kind of want her to die just so we don't have to visit that storyline every again.

  8. He would also be the most powerful vampire in the world since Klaus could not even hurt him.

  9. If so, how did he die? (I forgot how he died, it's been that long. I haven't watched Season 3-5 episodes for a second time yet.)

  10. I agree with all of these deaths. I mean, they don't even know what to do with Bonnie and Tyler. It has been the case for a long time now.
This question might be silly (because i've read most of the post mortem interviews) but did they talk about a return from the dead anywhere? 'Cause i haven't found anything about this.

  11. This answered every question people have posed when they were complaining. I was relieved to see this interview for multiple reasons. Tyler has a storyline that has nothing to do with Klaus (hooray!); we finally know what the Travelers want and the death they'll cause to get it; and from now on, when people die, they are never coming back. That last one should be emphasized repeatedly. Caroline Dries said that Enzo will be sticking around for the rest of the season, but she didn't say anything about Season 6. Whether or not Ian Somerhalder's mock threat was real, from one of the promo photos, it looked like Damon was either at peace or about to leave town. Stefan will probably meet the same fate that Sloan did, and that will be the atrocity that Caroline will witness, but who knows what happens next? Things are supposed to change on the show in a huge way. I'm not happy that the writers are openly enjoying torturing viewers with Delena, but I read that things are also supposed to change between the three members of the central love triangle. A lot of damage has been done with the Enzo situation, and it'll probably only get worse towards the end of the season.

My predictions for character deaths: Bonnie, Tyler, and either Stefan or Damon (even if one of them gets brought back by Luke and Liv).

  12. They need to do something to shake things up. Ratings are sinking fast and next season could be the last.

  13. He died when Elena died in the end of the 3th season when she came back a vampire. He was link to her bye Ester When she turned him in to Mikael 2.0. He was fighting Damon in the warehouse where he stabbed Klaus in the coffin with the White Oak stake. When Elena died he died.

  14. Damon i think is defaintly dying but obviously will return. I think because of the stills he is behind bonnie which could mean he is about to pass through her and elenas reaction. I think Bonnie will also die because of the other side and this time they should keep her dead they just keep stringing her 'deaths' along now. Also i think unfortuantly Tyler because of his attachment to the travelers and they might kill him as he tells everyone else or sheriff forbes due to the stills.

  15. Enzo's dead is not even Major pleaseeeeeeee WTH?.. i guess one is Tyler other Caroline's mom and the third mmmmmmmmmm lets say Markos? but i preffer Jeremy he should have stayed dead.

    ReplyDelete
  16. agree with jeremy he is so annoying rather him die than any other character.

    ReplyDelete
  17. yeah, they are gonna kill Tyler, they destroyed his character loooong time ago...shame, I like him. They should have used him more, he is werewolf-vampire hybryd for god's sake!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I think they should kill damon, elena and stefan and end this show once for all. It used to be really great series, and then a family of annoying original vamps came to town and stayed for too loooong destroying this show...then ridiculously not scary silas was created by the writers, and that stupid ancient love story. Just let the series die peacefully, not in agony after another 2 or 3 seasons full of silly ideas and filler plots.

  19. Tyler could die if they do indeed do the spell to kill all vamps in MF so they can claim it as theirs, I'd imagine that's why they kept him alive and turned/then permanently killed Sloan so that they could save Tyler for later. Liz is likely to die simply because she's one of the last vanilla humans and unlike Matt, she doesn't have a magic ring to save her. The Twins could die, which I kinda hope, I've just found them to be annoying since their introduction, I've tried to like them but... NOPE, hate 'em, lol.
Then of course they could always do cheap deaths and permanently kill peeps that were on the otherside like Kol, Alaric, Lexie, Rose, Enzo, etc, etc. I'll be PISSED if they do that to Kol. Be forewarned, lol.

  20. Now I remember it clearly. Thanks.

My predictions for character deaths are: Luke, Tyler, and Stefan, But I'm sure Stefan won't stay dead for next season.

  22. I read 3 deaths but nothing about any resurrections (as mentioned in the comments here). Did I miss something?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm guessing that the 2 other major deaths will be Bonnie and Tyler. Neither have good storylines now (Bonnie in fact has never had a good storyline unfortunately). Would love to see them resurrect Alaric and Kol (the latter for The Originals...if only for occasional appearances).

I know it was stated that there would be a big return of a few characters that we haven't seen in a while & that one of them would stick around. I think it was a Deadline article

Just want to point out that you are taking that quote from Ian out of context, he was talking about the breakup & how they are trying to portray it properly when ex's are forced into contact with each other after a messy breakup. He was not in fact speaking about their relationship like you want to believe he was.

  26. So why is enzo considered a major death? Something interesting maybe would be kill off Elana,Damon and Stefan and have the show continue on the other side idk.

    ReplyDelete
  27. If your predictions are right about Damon and Stefan, they would have to die before the other side is gone. Otherwise Luke/Liv won't be able to bring them back). I don't think the writers want to kill them off. The writers said that they are tired of complaints about unanswered mythology questions regarding the other side; so they want to completely destroy it so that there are no questions about dead being dead. I think you are right about Bonne and Tyler and perhaps Sherriff Forbes?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm not sure about Sheriff Forbes. I think she'll get lost in the shuffle when the Travelers end up conquering Mystic Falls. What's going to happen in the season finale is supposed to be something that's never been done before and will shock everyone. From spoilers that I've read, it sounds like the three main characters, and probably a couple of others, will slip up and get scattered in an alternate dimension. It seems insane to even dream up, but I'm not the only person who has come to this conclusion based on interviews with the cast and crew.

    ReplyDelete
  29. LOL maybe since there will be no other side they will be permanent ghosts. LOL Can you imagine?

    ReplyDelete
  30. It could be just a rumor that got started on the fan boards, but it would be something different. I don't know if that's going to happen, though. The "picking up the pieces" in Season 6 could be residual drama from everything that's going on this season. Caroline might decide to go after Stefan because it looks like she's going to seriously get into it with Elena in the season finale. The synopsis doesn't mention that, but the promo pics show some kind of argument that might lead to Caroline crying. Friendship over, or at least on hiatus. It also looks like Damon will go away for a while. I don't know what's going to go down, but I doubt that it'll be all about Enzo. Damon already put his brother first, and Enzo's death wasn't Stefan's fault. The problem might be that Elena intends to keep it all a secret from Damon. If he thinks he can't trust her, that'll make him want to distance himself from her even more, and if he can't stay away from her while they're in the same town, Damon might want to leave town to get his head on straight. Ian Somerhalder is still under contract, but a prolonged break from TVD to do other things could be the decision he was trying to make that he mentioned on Twitter.
