Heroes: Reborn - Hayden Panettiere Not Asked to Return

Thanks to Wolf for the heads up.

Claire Bennet won't be one of the Heroes: Reborn for now. In an interview with Cosmpolitan, Hayden Panettiere revealed that she has not been asked to join the 2015 event series.

"Well, it was a shock to me," Panettiere said of learning about the miniseries from her cousin. "I mean, we had nothing, nothing to do with it; it will definitely be interesting to see how they reinvent that."

Panettiere played Claire, the cheerleader with cell rejuvenation, on Heroesfrom 2006 to 2010. The actress, who currently stars as Juliette on Nashville, said she doesn't think the role will be recast for the miniseries from Heroes creator Tim Kring, which will feature a new set of characters. No casting has been announced, but NBC hasn't ruled out old cast members returning.

  1. Still pretty early, the shoiw has a year and a half to air if NBC is planning it for Fall 2015.

  2. No existing characters please. None. Not one.

    You ruined them all.

  3. When I first saw the title, I read: "Hayden Panettiere - Asked Not to Return".
Which I'd believe, considering how annoying her character was.

  4. Claire was my favorite in Heroes.
I do hope Zachary Quinto will be part of the cast.

  5. It depends on what fails19 April 2014 at 13:11

This show probably does not have a single script written. Kind of obvious.

Also, obvious is Tim Kring messing with it, IDK why NBC decided to bring Heroes back considering that Kring had no idea of what he was doing.

  6. I'd prefer it if they started again with new characters.

  7. I hope she at least cameos, considering how a Heroes ended.

  8. Aw that's a shame. Her storyline was kind off left up in the air.

  9. THEY NEED TO BRING HER BACK. If they just reboot the show with new viewers, the shwol will have hard time, because previous fans are very likely upset ´cause they don´t get anything to jump back onto. New viewers might be hesitant to jump on pre existing material, especially shows with mythologies. It would be smarter to link Heroes: Reborn stronger to Heroes.

  10. To be fair, has ANYONE been asked to return yet? It's still very early days, as others have pointed out.

  11. As annoying I found her character in the beginning, she turned out to be the heart of the show for me.

  12. the can still call her i dont think they have a cast yet

  13. YES! She was the most irritating character in "Heroes". In fact, She is one of the most awful characters in TV show IMO . Hope she won't return...

But... save the cheerleader save the world!
Unless they don't bring any of the leads and focus on a group of secondary characters that weren't fully explored back then... that could worl too.

  16. I wouldn't be surprised if the old characters made guest appearances, but I don't think they should be the stars of the show.

I'd particularly like to see Ali Larter return just because of the whole triplet scenario and never getting to see the last sister, Barbara.

Good, then that leave her free for Nashville

  18. Well, the show's off to a good start already then! XD

  19. Agreed.
Absolutely no reason to revisit the characters from Heroes.
Sure they were fun, but their stories (and the series overall) was a mess by the end.

I would much rather have a clean start!

  20. Exactly, so many people bailed on the show that going back to past characters now would only be a mistake imo as it would only confuse things more. The new show would need a hell of a lot more fans than it had towards the end of its run if it were to survive this second coming, so to speak, and the only way to do that is to start afresh I think.

  21. I love the Easter egg idea or an occasional one ep VERY short cameo by an established Hero. That could work.

The only way I can see any of the original Heroes working is if one of them takes on a sort of mentoring role to the new generation of heroes, but that hero would now need to be powerless or have greatly reduced abilities.

HRG for instance would work well.

  22. I have to admit that I stopped watching towards the end of S2*, and only really enjoyed S1, so I'm not sure where any of the characters ended up, including HRG. But yeah, if he was as a handler type as he was near the start then that could work, as long as any of their story from the previous series wasn't complicated or important to new viewers.

*Hmm, maybe I did watch some of S3 actually, when was Ecclescake in it at the invisible guy? I did tune in for a few of his episodes, but only remember being very disappointed :(

  23. Ha! XD
Ya Season 3 was a mess indeed....

I watched it all the way through and my working theory is that the quality of the show was inversely proportional to the power of the characters abilities.

The stronger the characters got, the weaker the show got.

  24. I would instead go for a redo of season 2.
It got destroyed by the writers strike, and had to finish half a season early with little to no time to prepare a finale. I liked season 3 but after that cop out it went downhill (though I maintain not to the degree so many others stated)

  25. Oh totally agree, especially the time travel, that was handled atrociously! Also, I think for a lot of fans it depended on how you felt about some of the characters, it kinda became the Petrelli & Sylar show for a good while, if you didn't like them then then you started tuning out.

  26. That´s what I meant. You nailed it.

  27. wait didnt barbra die at a young age?

  28. If they plan to do new cast, This time its OK, since its been some time now. Tho they could have made it work, but whatever, basically they need to do a good tie in to the cast before. Unless its been a big time skip, then they can't do a brief tie in, which I doubt they would be willing to do a big time skip.

Either way I'll check it out.

But again the show being in the same world, is gonna keep making me thing, all this time wtf are save the world mentality people like Hiro, Peter, Syler.

  29. That's pretty much what will happen, with guest appearances, from what I've heard.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah, this doesn't tell of a thing. Its so early anything can still happen. She didn't say she wouldn't be interested, that's enough for me at the moment to think she could still be back, even if its just for a quick scene or two.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh cool, where have you seen that? :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. From my phone conversations with Tim Kring. :)
