Thanks to Swiftnissity for the heads up.

This is not official but hopefully we'll try to confirm with NBC

JONATHAN Rhys Meyers is to shoot the second series of hit TV show Dracula.

The Irish heartthrob reportedly confirmed that a new season of the show, which he also co-produces, had been commissioned. Rhys Meyer unveiled the news at a party thrown by actress Goldie Hawn in London.

Dracula features a strong Irish cast with Katie McGrath from Bray and Dublin native Victoria Smurfit, who now resides in Los Angeles. Smurfit plays the fashion forward vampire slayer, Lady Jayne Wetherby.

  2. So they possibly renew this and possibly not Revolution? No thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I thought it was supposed to be only a ten episode mini series.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Dracula is an international production so you can't really compare it to the Revolution situation.

  5. I just saw the words "hit TV show" and it made me laugh out loud.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Would not be surprised if they didn't, maybe on Syfy like what happened with Merlin

    ReplyDelete
  7. Sky Living was airing it with a few days delay, so maybe they got the full rights for Season 2.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I tried to watch it, I really wanted to like it, but I couldn't watch beyond the 2nd episode.

  9. Yeah,I felt that it was really cheesy.

If so, Hannibal's third season is already taken for granted

    ReplyDelete
  11. I watched until episode 5 or something but I got bored. Can't put my finger on why. It being cheesy wasn't the problem for me.

    ReplyDelete
  12. What does this mean for Hannibal?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Nothing. We don't know if NBC was the one that renewed it.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Like I said below, NBC may not have renewed it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Plus obvious superficial dialogues... not even Kretschman could make me watch.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Great news if true. I loved the first season, so this would really make my day

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hannibal is also a coproduction, isn't it? The studio by itself could comission Hannibal's third season, right? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I don't know how I feel about it. I had kind of made my peace with the ending. IF they do come back I hope they improve the quality a little bit.

    ReplyDelete
  19. No, but some people might have said that because it didn't do very well from the begining.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yes, but I meant it's means nothing for Hannibal's future on NBC, unless we have an official confirmation.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Love the cast love the show hope it dose get renewed.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ten episode limited series, the idea was to order only cable length seasons each year, kind of like how FOX is trying to do with Sleepy Hollow and The Following.

    ReplyDelete
  23. fans often try to justify their favourite shows poor ratings with it being a mini-series

    ReplyDelete
  24. What?!?! I didn't think it would based on ratings solely, but this is awesome, since the finale left on such a big cliffhanger, sad to see favorites dead also, but I'm happy, hope it's true :)

NBC won't air it. I'm sure

    ReplyDelete
  26. I always found it strange that it was only supposed to be limited but that's what people kept on saying. Thanks for clearing it up.

If Sky Living can renew this terrible show, I will be pissed if Gaumont does not do the same to Hannibal.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Gaumont will do everything possible to keep it on the air. Besides, NBC don't deserve a good show like Hannibal.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I hope it renewed it can be a summer show I started to love this show

    ReplyDelete
  30. If they get it cheap enough to not be making a loss they'd be stupid not to, IMO. I feel like more people would watch broadcast shows if networks were more patient and it felt less of a risk. And limited run co-productions could be an answer to that. No matter what they are going to get closer and closer to cable ratings each season, NBC particularly they might as well accept that for now haha.

Wow, I didn't think this was possible. Great news!

    ReplyDelete
  32. And Crossing Lines as well.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Okay there have been better Dracula films than this series but something about Meyers' portrayal intrigued & stuck with me..so persisted with S1. Don't know how they are advancing storyline wise but hopefully it's good enough to check out.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Major Katie McGrath fan. I hope we get another series.

    ReplyDelete
  35. SyFy didn't give up on Merlin, the writers and BBC did. They wanted to end it before the quality became bad since they "thought the show had run its course" even though an extra episode SHOULD have been made to tie the last loose ends. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Clearly whoever wrote the article didn't watch the show, as Smurfit played Jayne, as in, past tense.

I would be thrilled if Dracula gets renewed! Loved it!! Even if NBC doesn't renew it, if I can watch it online or on another network, I'll be happy.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I hope this is true.Ive been waiting to hear if it got picked up for a second season. And I hope it's longer than 8 episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  39. AWESOME NEWS.................if it's true! Member of the Katie McGrath fandom since Merlin. She is a great actress and Dracula is a great series putting a new spin on a great old story! 4 EVER, Nobody!!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Dracula is a great show, so I'll be glad if this is true:) stop bad mouthing shows. Same old spoiler...people bad mouthing shows that has taken a lot of hard work to make.

    ReplyDelete
  41. This sounds like a gossip ... not a spoiler :-/

    ReplyDelete
  42. I kinda hope not. I rather be happy with that nice open ending. then watch more for drama. but I will watch again if it comes.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Not what i meant. NBC aired the first season of Merlin, but then it moved to Syfy for the rest of the series

It's a point of view, I've watched first season and I'll watch second if there will be one, but I liked only scenography and JRM (he is perfect for this role IMHO).

That's where the "If" comes in

    ReplyDelete
  46. I enjoyed it. I think next season should be this for Fridays on NBC:

    Constantine
    Grimm
Dracula(first half of the season)/Hannibal(second half of the season)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Terrible show? Dracula is amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Woah! Great news, hopefully it's true! I don't care whether NBC airs it or not as long as more episodes are produced! :D

    ReplyDelete
  49. Something like what happened with Saving Hope?

    ReplyDelete
  50. NBC may not have renewed it. It's a co-production and it's likely that the studio commissioned another season when NBC didn't.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I hated the series finale of Merlin. I wish Morgana could have had a show-down with Merline. A full-throttle show-down.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I thought the same after 2 episodes, it quickly got better IMO. Also while it wasn't a hit ratings wise the critics seemed to warm up to it quite a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  53. This is a hit in UK.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hopefully NBC renews and airs Dracula! I cannot wait for season 2 :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. I'd be shocked if this gets renewed but I wouldn't be upset about it either. I'm curious about what happens, so I'd watch it for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I am a fan of the show NBC Dracula. The writers did a great job at intertwining the story lines of the various characters. The sets and costumes are beautiful. The actors and actresses chosen for the cast was brilliant. I loved the dry wit and the often funny sarcastic humour. The paring of Alexander Grayson and Renfield is perfect. I am "Team Grayson/Dracula." I strongly want the show given a second season and possibly more. :)
