Thanks to Swiftnissity for sending us the following.

Merlyn is back in Arrow. Filming for the season finale should begin any day now so he's probably returning for that.

  1. Interesting, maybe he is working with slade, or maybe we will see that: Team Arrow + Merlyn VS Slade and his group (Ravager-Isabel , Brother Blood, Slade Army)

  2. Could it mean he'll be staying for the next season? That would be great.

  3. I doubt he would work with Slade. Slade endangers Thea.

  4. Monday is the last day of filming on 2.22. So that would mean he's probably gonna be in that episode as well.

  5. I thought he would appear sooner. I hope he has some major impact. I assume he is working with Slade, how else would Slade knew Merlyn is Thea's dad. I could see Thea decide to walk away with Merlyn and leave Oliver behind after Moira(maybe) dies or Merlyn simply abducts her.

  6. Wasn't Manu that spoiled a while back that Merlyn is the big bad guy of next season?

  7. I'm not sure. I know someone spoiled that Merlyn is involved next season, but that's as far as I know.

I can't wait. I'm sure he comes back and tells Thea he is her father.

  9. If Slade is still alive be the end of the season i would love to see Merlyn take Deathstroke on that would be a cool fight scene.

  10. Seeing as the tweet was already tweeted a few days ago, that's very well possible. I hope so!

I hope she chooses to go with him. I can see her doing that after finding out everybody has been lying to her.

  14. You right, There is funeral scence coming in episode 21, i think that moria will die:

So probably merlyn will know about that, and that why he will come back to starling city. i think that there are two reasons for his return:
first, moria won't be able to tell on merlyn to ra's-al ghul because she would be dead.
second, Thea , he is her father, if someone wanted to kill moria, maybe he wants to kill thea too.

Thea's going to blow a gasket when she finds out that Merlyn is still alive and that her mother lied to her again. Then she's going to go insane in Seeing Red when she finds out about Team Arrow and her brother lied to her again. All she's going to basically learn is that she can't trust anyone on that show because at this point the only people who haven't lied to her is Lareaul and Quentin and that's because they barely interact.

  17. That's why I hate - haaaaaate! - that even after Oliver apparently forgives Moira for lying to him about Thea's paternity, Moira STILL doesn't tell Oliver and Thea that Merlyn is alive. Her big speech about realizing that her lies had been a misguided attempt to protect herself, not her children, means nothing if she's just going to keep lying about something so crucial. For all they know, Merlyn could show up again any day now to see Thea; knowing he's alive would've at least put Thea and Oliver and their guard, but no, Moira doesn't tell them. She might have scared him off for now with the threat of Ra's al Ghul but she can't expect that to last forever.

  18. No doubt we'll see more of him, but I sure hope he's not the Big Bad again... we did that in Season 1.

  19. I don't like how they have used the Malcolm character since Season 1. They brought him back briefly to inject some excitement in the first half of Season 2 (it was getting a bit lackluster until they started the Slade Wilson arc) and now he is returning back for the finale...doesn't make sense, especially with Thea being in danger last week (surely Malcom didn't know Slade wasn't going to hurt her and especially after his son died, I expected him to be more of a father to Thea...he might be on the run from the League of Assasins but surely he could do better). Not sure whether to blame the writers or John Barrowman's busy schedule (is he really working that much?)

I'm thinking he's gonna form an uneasy alliance with Oliver. He'll probably get a chance to talk with Thea too which will lead into her plot line next season. (Her brother and her father are enemies, so what does she do? Who's side does she take?).

I believe he's already confirmed for next season, it's just not confirmed if he's a guest star, recurring or main.

  22. That's amazing! Can't wait! I hope he works with Team Arrow instead of against them.
