Revenge - Episode 3.15 - Struggle - Review

This week’s “Struggle” wasn’t struggling to keep my attention like last week’s episode. When the episode starts with Emily stabbing the hell out of her father’s carving and menacing to kill all the Graysons, I get excited. Though, I can’t be the only to be disappointed she didn’t get to kill at least one Grayson before coming back to her sane self. I feel the show is slowly starting to get back on track back to the Revenge I grew to love with its elegant parties, formal dress codes and scheming, lots of it, the only thing missing now is the takedowns. (We haven’t had one in ages!)

It’s Nolan to the rescue this week! (Twice) For the last couple of episodes, I felt Revenge was lacking one of their key players. I was gladly surprised with his involvement in this episode.

“Which is fast becoming a euphemism for Patrick did it.”

Nolan being worried for his best-y, which is more than understandable, stalks down Aiden and demands for his help. I liked exploring the Drowning Emily Takaeda Method, as much as the next, but Aiden drowning Emily in the abandoned warehouse was kind of heavy. These two really do have a special kind of love. (Anyone else not sure they would be able to almost drown their boyfriend/girlfriend? Even for their sanity?) We also got to enjoy the trip in the mind of Emily-Amanda Thorn-Clark-Grayson, but it felt a little too easy of a resolution for me. She was tortured by the man she loves, yes, but she remembers something, one memory, and just like that she’s fine. (Or as fine as she’ll ever be.) I was expecting her buried memories to be a bit more hard-core, maybe that’s just me.

“The only mistake he made, was falling for the wrong women.” (The look he had when he glanced towards was full of meaning. It was the ‘I get you bro’ feel and I laughed.)

Nolan was feeling responsible for Patrick’s falling down the rabbit hole and with Victoria’s help, conned him into moving across the ocean. This episode humanised Victoria for me, doing this selflessly for her son. I liked the idea of Victoria hatching an Emily-esque plan, cementing the fact that they are more alike than any one of them will ever admit. The episode ended with Nolan spending quality time with Victoria and then with Emily, still shadowing the similitudes between the two leading ladies.

Lastly and for the life of me, I just can’t get into the Jack and his bio-mom storyline. How could you hide a pregnancy to your husband? It’s just weird. There is absolutely no way she came back to the Hamptons just to get to know her son. Here’s to hoping Emily unearth her underlying intensions sooner rather than later because I have the feeling the first Ms. Grayson will en up being an ally for Emily. I really enjoyed his interaction with Emily on the beach house porch, it was simple, heartfelt and something I could relate to. Emily’s had so much missed opportunities for happiness due to her quest to revenge and the wall she’s created around her. She doesn’t want Jack reliving her mistakes and living with her regrets.

What was lacking in this episode was the Emily/Daniel interaction, Daniel brooding alone in his office was a waist of precious time if you ask me. I get the feeling next episode will be filled them though!

Questions
1. Should Margaux stay in France? (Please. Yes.)
2. Stevie Grayson, friend of foe?
3. Anyone interested in the “Voulez” storyline?

  1. I'll start off with answering your questions:
    1. Can Margaux please stay in France?! She bores the s*** out of me. Every word she says is a waste of time.
    2. I like Stevie Grayson. She seems pretty nice and I do think that she's a friend. Well, I hope that she is one.
    3. No, no, and no.

I don't know how I feel about the last couple of episodes. I don't feel like Emily is making any progress when it comes to taking down people, she has to step up her game big time or it's going to be a snoozefest till maybe the last 2 or 3 episodes this season.

You're right when it comes to her blackouts. It's funny that they solved that just in one "drowning session".

    1. I know that all of you probably ships Jack with Em but I like him with Margaux and she has a lot of potential to be an Allie to whole revenge plan.
    2. She's a friend or at least not a foe. I honestly like she's kind of like Ems or Ems is kind of her. Married to the Grayson and trying to win with them Also both of them sacrifice a lot. And I like her being Jacks mom
    3. Not Voulez particular but Margaux yes (look at 1) :)

The episode wasn't so shocking like last one but Revenge is definitely almost back on track :)
