Reign - Episode 1.13 - The Consummation - Preview & Teasers

There’s a few lies flying around the French court in this week, not just little fibs but great tales of subterfuge too, ones that could change the course of European history for ever. Some are pretty easy to spot or come to light by the end of the episode, another is worked out by one character, whom when met with disapproval of their own act, challenges one of the deceivers. But the biggest deception of all is something only we the audience become privy to for now, and I can’t see the holder of this dark secret wanting to share it with many people any time soon.

Catherine de Medici is being run ragged preparing for her beheading, there’s so much to do on the tight budget that Henry is allowing her that she’s already finding it hard to know where to focus her energy, and then the worst thing that can happen at a party happens, a gate crasher invites herself to the castle. Anyone who is aware of guest star Amy Brenneman screen presence will I am sure be eager to see her face off against Megan Follows, and I'm happy to report that they do not disappoint as the Scots’ Queen Regent and Queen of France battle it out at court, each trying to achieve their own personal goal.

So on to the wedding, what can I say, probably not as much as you’d like me to I'm afraid. The ceremony itself is fairly brief considering how long it’s taken to get to it, but still beautiful with has a fairytale like quality to it, and most importantly, as the title of the episode suggests, it is consummated and therefore legal and binding. As to which brother gets married and why, well a Nostradamus vision may have something to say about it, or Catherine might, Henry almost certainly will, and I’m sure Marie de Guise will be full of helpful advice too. But in the end will Mary, for once, choose her own fate?

The Consummation airs at 9pm ET on Thursday 6th March, below are a few dialogue teasers to see you through until then. Don't forget to come back to vote in our poll after the episode and let us know what you thought.

“I love him, I love them both”

“They brought this back after Clarissa's death, I thought you might want to have it as you were more parent to her than I”

“If all goes well, Bash gets Mary and I get exile…and my mother. Not for long though, I’ll set her up somewhere far away with my brothers”

“Your Majesty, a messenger has arrived, he says there’s news regarding the line of succession”

“French court has gone to hell, but I'm here now dear”

“Make the blow sure and quick, remember I've paid you extra, don’t want my children to see you hacking at me”

“One charlatan scared you by whispering in your ear about your son’s death, a future no-one could know, and you change the course of nations!”

“Make sure what is between us, brother, is distance”

“The power of love, a force from above, cleaning my soul”

“I will die for this, the Queen will kill me herself”

First of all, thanks for the preview, Sandi. As always :)
This one's gonna be hard to watch. I expect a lot of heartbreak for the characters and I already feel sorry for them. I have a lot of guesses and I feel like I already know how most of the things are gonna be like. I'm excited to see if I got them right or can the writers surprise me with this one. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the episode and so will we ;)

  3. I want Bash and Mary. God, why she has to marry Francis. That's just unfair. :(

  4. I just want it to be Bash and Mary... At least she said it: “I love him, I love them both.”

Oh man, this is going to be another non stop, crazy episode, may throw my wine at the tv if Mary and Francis get married

  6. It better be Bash or they'll have ruined the show. She has plenty of time to marry Francis later. We all know history has them together but if they are smart they'd set the storyline up this way to have multiple seasons.

  7. I love them both??
Does that really means what we think it means or we need a context for it? cause like this it just sounds ridiculous.

  8. All those shippers and everything...
    All I want is Clarissa.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Looks like Power of Love by Frankie Goes To Hollywood is in this episode... Glad she admits she loves BOTH! I know she marries Francis, but I want her with Bash. :(

  10. I still have to watch Thursday's episode. Will do so this weekend, but can't wait for these!

  11. I wouldn't be surprised if Nostradamus lied since his prophecy about Francis is one of the only ones we didn't get to see flashes of...although that could just be because the event was farther out ad not filmed yet and I can't imagine what the reason for it would be...but anyway I CAN'T WAIT!!! I need this episode in my life...that is all.

And just how is it ridiculous? I didn't realize you were only allowed to love one person at a time...better start informing everyone.

  13. I have never really like bash from day 1 and that hasn't changed i use to like mary/francias but after seeing francias/lola i am likeing them. Who mary marries asside i am wondering how far from history they will go we all know bash never existed and that francias became king. I find it hard to believe that they will be sucessful as to making bash ligitimate but i think it would be riddiculus for them to completely rewrite history.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I am actually not a fan of bash so i could careless but I think it will be funny if mary marries bash then he is denied ligitimacy.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Wow, so there will be wedding night sexy time huh? I was thinking Mary would have to Mary Francis although she is in love with Bash. That they may try to fight it for a while. But this changes things!

  16. Cheers Justyna, I thought it was an OK episode, you know me, I'm not really a shipper and as you can imagine this one was pretty heavy on the shipping, lol. The Catherine and Marie scenes were my favourite I think, it was a shame that they didn't bring Henry into the mix too for some scenes too but there wasn't really room in the episode I guess.

  17. I know what you mean, Clarissa and the pagans in the woods were a big part of why I got into the show in the first place :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well done for getting the song, unfortunately it's a different version, it's a good one, but not quite the FGTH one (that I adore, showing my ages there, lol)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Me too! When I first watched the pilot, all I wanted was to know the name of "the girl whose face is a ruin" and I just kept watching and watching and so I'm so hooked!

    ReplyDelete
  20. This show is really exciting and to me Mary and Bash are a better couple than Mary and Francis. I have a strong feeling Bash is going to get his heart broken next episode and that will be sad to watch after everything he's done and gone through with Mary. He is clearly in love with her and I hope she eases some of his pain by telling him she loves him too.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm kind of hoping now that the marriage is done that some of the mystery elements are brought back in to the show

    ReplyDelete
  22. And I hope that you know, Clarissa enters the castle and interrupts the mariage... :D

    ReplyDelete
  23. lol, if only XD Nah, I'm glad that the wedding has happened, it has been dragged out for a while now. I think both shipper camps deserve resolution to it really.

  24. I love Mary and Francis and I hope that in the end its the two of the them. I know that there are a lot of Mash fans out there, but Frary has its strength as well, but I think Mash fans are worried and surfing the net to find what ever spoilers they can. Here's to hoping that its Mary and Francis and that she doesn't settle, because that would be disappointing.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yeah, I read that on a forum - never heard of the cover, but checked it out on YT and it's pretty! Not the original, but very beautiful and I think it'll fit into the style of the show. :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. The majority of Mash fans are willing to accept the inevitable outcome that Mary marries Francis. I mean, its historically accurate that she does. What we want though, is for Mary to realise her true feelings for Bash because as of now, they've only been implied, sort of.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Actually Lindsey, she doesn't have much time yo marry Francis, because of the very point you stated, in that if they follow historical accuracy, Francis actually doesn't have that much more time to live. So, as a Mash shipper myself, I actually dont mind if she marries Francis now. Because that would be one step closer to his death.

    ReplyDelete
  28. He has two years to live after they marry, historically. And the king died before him...

    ReplyDelete
  29. I hadn't heard it before either, it doesn't quite have the power of the original imo, but yes it's very beautiful and properly more fitting for the point it's used in the episode I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Am i the only one that wants her to be with Francis? And they already said they are not aiming to be historically accurate. So... Maybe Francis doesn't die young?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Nope, I love Frary. There are plenty Frary shippers, just apparently not on SpoilerTv. I think he will still die young. But seasons don't have to necessarily mean 1 year. He died 2.5 years after he married Mary. TVD has been on for 5 years and their timeline on the show is only about 2.5 years right now.

I do think that Clarissa is dead but with Nostradamus where's what I think will happen.

Francis and Lola return back at court then Mary's mother shows up, gives her crap about wedding Bash.

Mary and Bash take off with plans to elope, after finding out from the other ladies Mary's and Bash's plan, Lola tells Francis because of thier sex time and continues to be the worst friend ever.

After finding them Francis , realizes how serious they are about getting married. So he finds something to hold over/ bribe / threatin Nostradamus with, an that's what his the queen will kill me herself line.

Something else I think is that Mary will do is whatever is right fior Scotland, even if Francis dies as a result because, she's a queen sometimes they don't get to do what they think is the right thing

    Also this..

So Francis still dies , Bash will be heart broken but still a confident of Mary's cause who else supports her like he does.
Mary figures everything out next week and the drama wil continue.

I know everyone has pretty much made up their mind about Frary and Mash but I still love both.

    ReplyDelete
  34. In history there was no Bash so I think they're already taking some liberties. So they could have her marry Bash then Francis later.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love Francis and Mary.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yes. Some places have a lot of Frary, and others have a lot of Mash. It just depends.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Someone answer me. Be nice, we all like who we like, no need to get nasty. Am I the only person who wants to see Bash hook up with Kenna?

    ReplyDelete
  38. They shared a nice moment in ep 2. The only way I would get behind it is if Kenna was no longer involved with the King. Because otherwise that's just a bit too messy for me. I actually ship Bash with Lola though.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think that Kenna got dumped by King Henry, I am not sure. The only reason why I liked the idea of them is because Kenna is sorta like Diane. I think she and Bash would develop an understanding. I did like Bash and Lola too. They were cute. Sigh.... I love Bash.

    ReplyDelete
  40. It's because both guys are awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  41. If Mary follows her heart and choose the man she is head over heels in love with, then that's definitely Francis! Fingers crossed it's Francis and Mary getting married. After all, Mary did say that she loves Francis numerous times. He has her heart.

    ReplyDelete
  42. “I love him, I love them both” Please tell me that's NOT Mary saying she loves both Francis and Bash. I'd hate that since she has said many times that she loves Francis and only him. :(

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hi Juliet, can't say too much about your first question I'm afraid, but yes she is very happy during her ceremony :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Been trying to work out the best way to word the consummation answer. There's quite a lot of people in the room, not everyone is exactly comfortable being there, Mary is mostly happy but is one of the people who does feel a twinge of uncomfortableness at one point.

    ReplyDelete
  45. JustAnotherGameFreak!3 March 2014 at 17:08

She should marry Francis. They're perfect for each other. and they love each other immensely.... Mary and Francis forever!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Mary and Francis all the way. If they don't just let them be happy and together I may have to stop watching, this whole thing with Bash has happened way tooo fast, there's no way she's already in love with both of them, just a few episodes she declared herself loving Francis always.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I love Bash too. But I strongly dislike Mash lol. As you can imagine I was cringing all throughout the last episode with Mash and Frola scenes. Anyway, yea like I said I could get behind Kenna/Mash if done correctly, but Mash/Lola was the first thing I really shipped on this show.

“The power of love, a force from above, cleaning my soul”

    ReplyDelete
  49. Thank you, Sandi! You answered everything perfectly! :) I love that she is happy during her wedding ceremony. (I'm 100% sure she is marrying Francis) :) :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Thanks! I can understand that it would be uncomfortable with all the people watching!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. It's more who is watching, rather than the people in general.

    ReplyDelete
  52. CANNOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS. Long May She Reign!!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ugh, Mary is happy during the ceremony and consummation? How are we supposed to buy that when she loves both of the brothers and is essentially breaking one of their hearts? That's not Mary. I don't like that her character is being sacrificed for the triangle. This is unbelievable.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I can see Bash wanting to see kill himself if its true about Mary being really happy in marrying Francis. It would definitely kill him. Bash suicide plot? Don't see how Mash can happen now.

    ReplyDelete
  55. To be honest I hope Bash finds someone who will love him and will forget about Mary after reading that spoiler. Mary and Francis can rule and have their happy ending. Sad to hear that Mary will blissfully marry Francis without any regrets for Bash. Especially if she says she loves him in this episode which is just cruel.

    ReplyDelete
  56. My Mash heart is breaking. I can't believe that Mary will marry Francis without a single thought for Bash. He sacrificed so much for her, even his relationship with Francis has been ruined for the sake of the love triangle. I don't doubt that Mary still loves Francis. But it sounds like Mary will turn off her feelings for Bash once the Frary wedding happens. So apparently the past 3 episodes of Mash development never happened? Wow.
