That was awesome! I want a Spin-Off in which Beth and Daryl become terrorists who burn down houses for fun.

  2. I'm the biggest Daryl fan ever but dear God, I nearly fell asleep from boredom.

  3. I was let down. It was a really pointless episode. I don't watch The Walking Dead for episodes that are about looking to find alcohol. The final episodes of this season better pick up or I'm out.

I wasnt expecting much out of this episode but norman reedus acted his ass off. But it couldnt have hurt them to focus on another group for a few minutes

  6. Even though I normally don't get as excited about these episodes with just a couple of characters, I really enjoyed this one and thought it to bee one of the best of Walking Dead's ever. I really liked the conflict between Daryl and Beth and how they played to a resolution. I don't think Daryl and Beth had to get together, but I would be okay if they went that way. Finally, they peeled back some layers of Daryl, and I don't think it went to far. Great, great episode.

  7. Are you one of those crazy stans who gets angry if someone doesn't like an episode?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I feel exactly the same. This season as a hole has let me down and this episode didn't help. Filler. The show needs to pick up the pace

    ReplyDelete
  9. They showed have focused half on this group and half on another.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Exactly. I'm angry they gave him such a filler episode.

  11. TV series live and die by their writing and direction or lack thereof ie: Lost Girl. It appears TWD is now on that road of disappointment. May the TV Gods be merciful and kind to Orphan Black and Continuum! 4 THE DEAD TO STAY WALKING.............A LITTLE WHILE LONGER, I will remain, Nobody!!!

  12. I enjoy character development, I don't need action all the time. Even with that I still found this episode extremely boring. The ones that had Rick/Carl and the one with Michonne/Carl/Rick? I enjoyed their character development and wasn't bored at all.

OMG THANK YOU! Everyone whining about everyone being seperated wha wha wha! Its nice to have the character building be center stage, this show isnt just zombie gore. Just goes to show that there are a lot of people out there who don't have the higher brain capacity to understand/appreciate the show properly.

Seriously? Did you just write that? Wow!!

Nope, just saying bye bye. I don't care if someone likes it or not, it doesn't effect how I see it. I loved it, it was such a bold brisk move in character development. You didn't like it, fine. You want to stop watching, fine. I will too if there's a few things that happen. So I'm saying Bye. Why waste your time on something you hate?

  16. A little slow, but better than I expected. It was great learning about Daryl's past and I found Beth was more interesting.

    THANK YOU, THIS.

  18. Most pointless ep ever. I love Daryl, but this show does NOT know how to pace an episode. The eps get more boring each week.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I suspect it is because Rick's group and Tyrese's group are headed toward Terminus whereas the rest are on different paths. We'll circle back soon enough, I bet.

  20. Based on some of the comments, and the prospect of an episode about finding alcohol, I expected this episode not to be that good. But I was pleasantly surprised!

I know Season 4 has had complaints about being slower and boring, but I would disagree and say that it has done wonders in the character development department, which the show has desperately needed. This episode, while not having a lot happen, developed Daryl's character even further and actually showcased Beth extremely well. Emily Kinney freaking rocked it tonight!

Beth was right, she's not as tough as some of the other women and not like the rest of them, yet she's survived (sometimes I'm not sure how). It was great getting to see her figure stuff out, about herself and about Daryl. While I am annoyed we didn't really progress the story much, I thought the episode developed these two characters (one of whom we knew very little about) extremely well.

Hopefully now with Daryl filled with a bit more hope, and a more determined Beth, we can get them set on the path towards the train tracks, hopefully meeting up with Maggie and her group, so we can have all of our characters back together.

  21. Do not understand the people that found this boring or a bad episode of The Walking Dead. To me this episode, and the last few more narrowly character focused episodes, have been exactly what The Walking Dead is about!!

Not to mention the quest for alcohol was not really about looking for alcohol.

I was giddy seeing Beth change into clean clothes... and bright colors at that!

Getting insight into the minds of these survivors, up close and personal, is the best part of the series! Having a few episodes focused on small groups has really upped the storytelling factor and the acting performances have been some of the best in the series!

The other very interesting aspect is the pairings of people (outside of Rick and Carl) are not pairs or groups one would normally associate together. That espouses new facets of characters we have not seen before!

I have really enjoyed this second half of the season so far!

I love this episode! second only to Rick-Carl + Michonne episode after the hiatus.
Beth: 'I know you look at me and you just see another dead girl.'
    T_T Oh, Beth...

  23. Seriously that episode was boring sorry

  24. Love Daryl, and love this episode.

  25. So, I voted just "OK."

I enjoyed the drinking game and all the scenes after that except for the house burning scene. That fire could easily spread and burn down the entire forest.

I didn't find it necessarily boring, but it was a slow buildup and I couldn't get behind Beth's search for liquor. My sister thought it was her 21st birthday or something, but she just seemed to want to drink. Okay.

I didn't hate this episode, but it is not one I would watch again, and I love this series! I have only ever voted "Awesome" b/c that's usually how I feel.

  26. I agree. I think because they were on the train tracks heading to the new place, their stories are sort of done. Now we need to get the other groups caught up to them before we go back to them.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I liked this episode. Although, like others, I wish there was another group mixed in.
I was a bit surprised that they were running around the woods. If I recall, in their last episode, they were at the train tracks, so I would have thought they'd stick by them. Well, I see they are in the next episode, so maybe by the end of that one, they'll be at the train tracks again, but this time headed in the direction Rick, Tyreese, and Co. are.
I have to admit, I was a little confused with Beth's determination to find alcohol. At first I thought maybe she was under age, so she just never had any. But then, I thought about Hershel and wasn't he a recovering alcoholic? So maybe that's why she never had any.

  28. The single worst written episode in the show's history.

  29. The problem is that The Walking Dead fans have been spoiled. The show has delivered time and time again so much so when a slow episode airs everyone hates it. The fans want their cake and they want to eat it too but when it all comes down to it The Walking Dead is a business. It takes money to make money. None of us want to lose our favorite characters therefore the more characters that are introduced the more money the show has to pay out. There's no telling how much money a walker makes and right now there's 18 living characters on the show. Many of those characters ie Rick, Michonne, Glenn, & Daryl are regulars making loads of money. I'm sure we could bare to lose some of those 18 characters such as Beth, Sasha, Bob who wouldn't really be missed too bad but it wouldn't put a dent in the cost it takes to run the show therefore we need shows like last night's episode to save money to make money. We can't have our cake and eat it too otherwise we'd be saying goodbye to many of our favorites on the show and I'm sure The Walking Dead producers wouldn't want to deal with the hate mail or riots stemming from a Daryl death just to save money.

  30. The problem isn't the lack of gore. This episode had plenty of splatter. The problem is that the writers' attempts at character development are utterly terrible and reveal very little about the characters that we didn't already know. Even worse, they ground the pace to a halt and offered absolutely no plot progression in the process. 40 minutes to find out a bunch of trivia about each character that will never be referenced again. Really? It was dreadful and somehow even worse than episodes 9, 10 and 11.

  31. I just loved how they paired the physically stronger character Daryl with the weaker (yet emotionally stronger) character of Beth. I loved this episode and think it was one of the best 10 episodes of TWD. This symbiosis balance them out. My favorite scene if I have to choose just one, would be the burning of the house and the flipping off. When they both turn around after that, it was nice to see Daryl smile again (and Beth is becoming one heck of a fighter :) )

The episode was character-centered for a reason - it was not meant to have much in the way of plot progression. Like in the Governor episodes - or every episode focused on character building - there will be a great ammount of criticism. A lot of it comes from people who would be better off just renting a zombie movie, but other times it is simply a matter of taste. I really liked this episode, as it was focused on a character that I really love - one not featured in the comics and made exclusively for tv - and you haven't been paying attention if you say that it was just trivia and no character development. It showed how deeply the events of the prison affected Daryl - a great performance from Reedus - and paved the way to a friendship between two characters that never interacted that much before but now have to depend on each other. The episode 4x12 was to Daryl what 4x09 was for Carl and Michonne, and that's the way the show has been since season one - it has always been about how living in such a world affects the characters in it. Of course I want plot and action-filled fast-paced episodes, but there'll be plenty of that to come (they are reaching a very exciting part of the story) - meanwhile just enjoy what they prepared for us.

  34. the best thing in that Ep was Daryl breaking down that was just sad too see him do that. And burning down the house was a great part. It was a good Ep !

    ReplyDelete
  35. just love how they decided to use burned money as a starter for the fire lol good thing government laws didn't exist bc burning money is a crime lol

    ReplyDelete
  36. The irony of this episode is that's it's called still yet we say Daryl take a last look at the grandfather clock with the Inscription of Tempus Fugit aka Time Flies where the clock actually chimed for the first time since the zombie chaos began.

  37. it wasnt bad because it was slow, but because it was episode devoted to just two characters, they had enough time to show some other group but they decided to make a few very loooong scenes, drinking game, talking in the dark about nothing. I get the concept of character development but it would be just fine if it took 20 minutes instead of 43...

  38. Walking Dead has been a wildly uneven show from the start.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I agree. This episode was one of the first since season 2 where I was really invested in Daryl. I always appreciate more time for Beth.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I would miss Sasha and Beth, especially Sasha.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hershel is probably the reason why. I think it was forbidden fruit to Beth as a result.

    ReplyDelete
  42. That's my point. The show was devoted to just two characters so they only had to pay two characters (also walkers, writers, etc etc but you get my point). The show was a money saving episode.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Some would some wouldn't. Me personally I wouldn't miss Sasha at all. She's my least favorite character right now.

  44. It was hilarious. A friend I was watching the show with commented that if they got too drunk Daryl could get in trouble with Beth (jail bait). I had to remind him that in that world statutory rape didn't exist. It's weird though how you question your morality. I remember Andrea in the second episode of the show worrying about stealing a necklace for Amy with a cop (Rick) standing next to her.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ya it was bit weird lol the world went to hell and yet she didn't have the guts to just grab it lol

    ReplyDelete
  46. Thank you, Darque! You hit the nail on the head! I really enjoyed this one, and all it did to help flesh out Beth's character.

    ReplyDelete
  47. The comic book's the same way, so it's not really surprising me much.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Can't they just kill Beth already ? I can't see this stupid little teenage girl anymore, Daryl was right, she acts like a college bi***
I think I'm done for TWD, this was the "too much" episode for me
