I said great but that ending with Wu just ain't right. If they didn't talk him down and WU DIDN'T COMMIT HIMSELF TO A MENTAL INSTITUTION it'd be better. He needs to be vindicated and told the truth.
Poor Wu. I don't like that they didn't tell him and he ended up committing himself to a mental institution because of it. It was unfair not to tell him. How long will he waste his life in there?
I'm having a hard time understanding why they didn't tell Wuu anything. At first he was just saying ''I know it's crazy but...'', being all logical and even having a theory it was just a ''Aswang copycat''.....but there was no choice at the end....I was expecting a ''Wuu, calm down...we need to talk'' from Nick, before ending the episode and seeing the rest next week.
Frusturating, it doesn't make sense why Nick would want to torture Wu by letting him spiral down into insanity. Not in his character to do something so vile, the real Nick would have told Wu the truth and let him live on with his life with the known truth.
Also, what happened to the repercussions of zombie Nick, they hadn't explored in several episodes now with the whole freezing up. Did they forget?
very cool cotw ep that I'm glad that they used to explore the mythology from other countries... and poor Drew Wu... lol (I wonder if this was a writer's prank to give him a rhyming name) felt bad and interesting to see Hank's reaction as he knows exactly what Wu is going through... it'll be interesting to see how this proceeds. I kinda hope that he recovers and they don't have to reveal anything to him (at least for now) as I like the idea that there is one "normal" or at least oblivious member of the main cast. Perhaps down the line, but I trust that the writers have a plan
Woo hoo, Wu! And I absolutely adore Juliette now. I love how she's always chiding people for not being truthful. Her snide response to Nick's assertion that he'd handle Wu by lying: "The basis of any lasting relationship." So Juliette, and so prophetic. I don't know how Wu will forgive them when he finds out they knew all the time about the Aswang. Also, finally, Adalind had the kid. And what a little witch she is!
Right at this moment I am royally pissed at Nick and Hank (for going along with Nick) Really. Really. Pissed. Right up until the scene in the bedroom when Nick said nothing...I was loving the episode. This is the first truly unheroic thing I can remember Nick doing. I could excuse them not explaining while they were in the bedroom. I kept thinking Wu wasn't in the best frame of mind for the discussion, but visiting Wu in a freaking mental hospital and STILL NOT TELLING HIM...borders on evil. Right now I don't really see how they will be able to redeem Nick's character.
I agree. They had that lengthy discussion about how they would only tell Wu if he was actually confronted with something and then they STILL decided not tell him anything. The poor guy is now living in fear in a mental institution. Their justification that not telling Wu was for his own benefit was hypocritical, given that the effect of not telling him was worse...far worse than what happened to Hank. The writers clearly want to drag out the Wu-thinks-he's crazy story as much as they can, but I hate when they make their people behave irrationally and out of character for the sake of a plot.
Drew Wu, really? What parents would give their child a name that rymes with their last name? But seeing that also Lou and Hugh were considered as Wu's first name the writers apparently did that on purpose. I always was under the impression that Adalind's baby would be a boy. I was really surprised that it was a girl. Renard seemed to be surprised too. I'm curious what this means. She's a witch for sure. Does Meisner suddenly have feelings for Adalind? I'm afraid baby-girl doesn't approve, lol. I agree with all of you that it was wrong not to tell Wu anything at the end. Hank knows how Wu must be feeling right now and he'd be able to help him through the realization that Wesen are real. I really hope the next episode starts right where this one ended and Nick decides to tell him the truth. He wouldn't let Hank go crazy so why would he let Wu go over the edge? He wouldn't sacrifize Wu to keep his already-not-so-secret-anymore-secret a secret, would he?
I honestly don't know what to think about this ep. It was creepy. But did I like it? I'm not sure....and what will happen to Wu now? With a history of mental illness he is now unsuited to work as a police man, isn't he? All this is just so depressing...but then, depressing might be good in the long run...I guess it depends on where they intend to go with this.
I couldn't believe Nick and Hank didn't tell Wu he wasn't crazy and what he saw was real. I agree, how will Wu forgive Nick and Hank for not telling him....
It's really on Nick. Hank wanted to tell. I'm not sure what Nick was thinking, but I guess what the writers were thinking was, they still needed someone not in the know to provide a contrast. It's getting a little silly, though.
Dana told Sam in the car something like ''What is it between you and Drew'', I argued with my boyfriend we just learned Wuu's name and he kept telling I missheard it ;P I was so glad we saw the cellphone name later to confirm it
Hank's experience...and his reminding Hank, Monroe, and Rosalee how agonizing the experience was meant that Nick was very clear on what he was doing when he left Wu in that hospital with no relief. It's part of why I am so angry about the situation.
Poor Wu! Don't hate me, but I actually understand why Nick and Hank didn't tell Wu that they saw the aswang too. Having just seen the episode and that scene, it's evident that Wu was really out of his mind, freaking out about seeing a real live aswang, and repeating "it wasn't her!". Telling Wu might've just made his freakout even worse. And then in the mental institution, Wu was clearly delusional. In that mental state, Wu wouldn't have the capacity to comprehend logically what they were telling him, let alone process that info. As Monroe and Rosalee have said multiple times in the past, most people lose their minds when confronted with such fearsome things. This might be the show's way of showing what happens when most/other people get a glimpse of wesen things.
This is different from Hank's wesen process, since Hank didn't completely flip out at the sight of that blutbad. Hank spent a long time coming to grips with what he saw, and trying to process it. I think that if Wu was still reasonable, and just bothered or still borderline, Nick and Hank might've told him, to help Wu come to grips with it. But, since Wu freaked out, and is now delusional, I think that Nick and his Team Grimm, might have to find some other solution for Wu, like a memory loss herbal, or something to make Wu forget seeing the aswang. I don't see how, in Wu's current state, he'd be able to process them saying that his delusions are real, and they share in it.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Whoa, that baby is terrifying. I'm scared about what's going to happen next.
ReplyDeleteAnd poor Wu. They should have told him the truth before he thought he was going crazy. Glad we know his name now too!
Great episode.

Decent episode, a filler kind of episode.

ReplyDeleteI hit a point in the episode (Dana's cell phone was ringing) and I said it out loud. "Drew Wu." OMG his name is DREW Wu. bwahahaha
ReplyDeleteDon't forget Hank was having the same thing except he did not go to mental institution.....he need to be told the truth so he can team Grimm
ReplyDeleteNo, but the actor kept joking that the first name rhymed on Wu, so I am not surprised.

ReplyDeleteHe wanted his name to be Lou Wu, but there already was a real Lou Wu so it couldn't be done.
ReplyDeleteYeah...I can't see any Chinese person naming their kid that. That's like the hardest thing to pronounce if English isn't your first language.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe Nick and Hank didn't tell Wu he wasn't crazy and what he saw was real. I agree, how will Wu forgive Nick and Hank for not telling him....
ReplyDeleteGreat episode up till Wu wounds up in a mental hospital. Why didn't they tell him? Shame on them!

ReplyDeleteReggie said at Comic-Con that he wanted his name to be Lou. I guess they liked the rhyming idea.
ReplyDeleteDana told Sam in the car something like ''What is it between you and Drew'', I argued with my boyfriend we just learned Wuu's name and he kept telling I missheard it ;P I was so glad we saw the cellphone name later to confirm it
ReplyDeleteI also remember Bree joking that his name was Cindy Lou Wuu at Comic Con
ReplyDeleteHank was on the same road but when Nick saw how bad iff he was he put him out of his misery and told him.
ReplyDeleteFor me it was a little than just being out of character. They had their hero do a bad thing. That can kill a franchise.
