Thanks for compiling all the polls Alex!
ReplyDeleteI still don't get why American Hustle is nominated...it was a mediocore flick en par with Oceans 11. The performances weren't special either...

ReplyDeleteBut I think that Bullock and Nyong'o actually have shots to win.
While I did not find it what I would call a "Best of the Year" film, I did think Christian Bale was incredible. If nothing else his wig tech should get an award! XD

Still a bit sad and angry Fruitvale Station is shut out for nominations!
ReplyDeleteI would love Sandra to win but Cate has won pretty much every award leading up to the Oscars a bit like Jared Leto in the supporting actor so if she lost it would be a huge upset.
ReplyDeleteI am rooting for Lupita, I think its pretty close actually I hope she does win,
I hope Nyong'o wins Jennifer Lawrence wasn't even that good in american hustle , in fact the whole film wasn't that good.
ReplyDeleteCate does have the award momentum behind her, but I still think Bullock's performance in Gravity is right in the wheel house of the academy voters.
ReplyDeleteI will admit though, I am basing this without actually seeing Blue Jasmine.
I am just not a Woody Allen fan.....

I think she is a solid actress, but I do not get the mad love either.
ReplyDeleteI thought she was incredible in Winter's Bone a few years back, but since then I have found her more solid then superb.
Yeah Winter's Bone was her best performance.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a big Oscar's guy, but if anyone here hasn't seen Nebraska, you should. It's a great father/son story that forces you to look at the deeper natures of people. It was an absolute gem. Plus shooting in black-and-white made it more artistic.
ReplyDeleteI saw Blue Jasmine (also not a Woody fan) and Cate was good in it but the film overall was mediocre. Still she plays a woman on the verge of a nervous/mental breakdown which is something the Academy also loves.
ReplyDeleteI imagine all the actors races have been close this year lots of great performances.
Best Pictures: Gravity
ReplyDeleteBest Actor: i hope Leonardo Di Caprio finally gets his Oscar but the academy loves transformations so it going to Mathew McConaughey
Best Actress: No doubt Cate Blanchet, her performance was incredible altho Meryl was great too on August.
Best Suporting Actor: Again the academy loves transformation it will go to Jared Leto but i preffer the guy from Captain Philips.
Best Supporting Actress: Im a fan of Jennifer Lawrence but i really dont think she deserves an Oscar for this role i will go for Lupita Nyong’o.
Oh I know. What a terrific film.
ReplyDelete"I will admit though, I am basing this without actually seeing Blue Jasmine.I am just not a Woody Allen fan....."
ReplyDeleteJust jumping in for moment!
There are certain Woody Allen films I like (Annie Hall, Scoop, Midnight in Paris) and films I loath (Vicky, Christine, Barcelona, Match Point, Wild Strawberries). But I really like Cate Blanchett because she can just play so many parts (LOTR, Hannah, Curious Case of Benjamin Button) so well. Just a really good character actor, where I think Sandra Bullock is still always Sandra Bullock, despite that I think A.C. made a meal out of something that would normally not be one and pushed Bullock to new a place.
I have yet to see Blue Jasmine myself, but I agree that I would rather see MS when that JL too.
The Wolf of Wall Street
ReplyDeleteMartin Scorsese – The Wolf of Wall Street
Matthew McConaughey – Dallas Buyers Club
Jared Leto – Dallas Buyers Club
Meryl Streep – August: Osage County
June Squibb – Nebraska
I am not a big Sandra Bullock fan honestly and I think she gets more praise than she deserves, but I really liked her in Gravity. I know some people found Gravity little more than VFX, but I was one of those truly drawn into it and her performance was a large part of that.
ReplyDeleteI do agree about Cate Blanchette though!
II love actors and actresses that transform in their roles either physically or just in their mannerisms and she is great at that...
I only saw "American Hustle" (and didn´t like it - for me the best was Jennifer Lawrence), so I´m not taking any guess...
ReplyDeleteThe only ones I have seen from this bunch are Gravity and The Wolf of Wolf Street, but I wanna see Her, Blue Jasmine, American Hustle, Dallas Buyers Club (Matthew is my favorite actor) and 12 Years a Slave.
ReplyDeleteIf you like Matthew McConaughey a lot I suggest you watch another film he made last year, "Mud". He is great in it as well!
ReplyDeleteOh man, this is awesome! I love Oscar polls! Thanks for posting! :D

I dont understand the hoopla surrounding Jennifer Lawrence
I loved that movie. It's my favorite movie from him.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we'll be surprised at all, for the moment every award has been pretty predictable.
