White Collar - Season 6 - Talks stall

12 Feb 2014

I hear there has been some communication between USA and White Collar producer Fox TV Studios but no meaningful dialogue so far. Given the way Season 5 ended — with a cliffhanger involving the abduction of Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) — it is safe to assume that there will be some sort of continuation, likely a conclusion for the series. The question is what that sixth and final installment will be. I hear the network has been mulling a short miniseries to wrap the story in the vein of Showtime’s The Big C, while the studio would prefer a traditional final season. While Collar‘s status as one of USA’s signature series would weigh in favor of the second option.

  1. Oh, I hope they can work this out so the show can get a final season!

  2. it would be awkward if talks fall apart and usa network announces that they cancelled white collar

  3. As long as it ends well I will be satisified. Of course the longer off that end is, the better.

  4. Hope its a satisfying end either way. Though I wouldn't mind a final season at all.

  5. So long as the series ends well and not just pulled from the air I'm good. They could do a movie for all I care so long as they wrapped everything up! But if I had to vote either way I would probably go for a shortened season or something. I mean, I can't see an entire season devoted to finding Neal and getting him free (both from the baddies and from the government). It would be too plodding for just that storyline and it would make sense to end with something big like this instead of solve this crime and then finish off the series with procedural episodes. So I think about half a season's worth of episodes would be enough to wrap that storyline up. They were so close to getting Neal free before the powers that be decided he was too good an asset to give up! So I'm seeing it go down like this: They figure out who's got Neal and why, solve that crime and take the bad guys down (per usual) and then either make said powers that be think Neal's dead so he can get off the grid or somehow get him off the hook above board. I'm not quite sure how I'd do it but I'm really hoping that they get to finish this thing on their terms.
That's my opinion at least ^_^

It will be renewed but likely be like psych with 10 or less episode.....with addition episode order

  7. I don't think USA should be too eager to get nitpicky about how big White Collar's final season order should be. This network isn't the original series juggernaut it once was. The new shows USA has introduced since 2011:

    Fairly Legal
    Common Law
    Necessary Roughness
    Suits
    Graceland

Only one of these shows (Suits) is a hit. The other (Graceland), renewed for a second season, has crappy ratings and likely won't get another pickup. The rest were canceled. White Collar might not get big ratings anymore but they're still fairly solid and USA can't afford to kick any solid performers to the curb right now.

  8. Wait a moment...final instalment? Why? Isn't that a little bit hasty? Of the shows which are still on the list, only Suits is a hit. With Royal Pains and Covert Affairs I am fairly sure that they will only last until syndication. Graceland I am even surprised that they got a second season. There are new shows planned, but there is no telling if one of them will be appreciated by the audience, especially since USA intends to treat new ground.
I mean, I am glad about every bit White Collar we get and I am all in favour for a good conclusion. But I am not ready for seeing it end just yet. The last season was way better than the fourth and the third and it doesn't look like the show is running out of steam just yet. I somehow expected at least two 13 episodes seasons....

  9. Why a final season ?? I mean Matt Bomer its getting more famous by the day!! And I think that for a little network the ratings are fine, Do you remember Supernatural ?, they get a rouge start on the CW, and now they got a lot of more season that they plan in the begining !!! I want more White Collar !!!

  10. dude wtf why wouldnt there be a final season im so sick of these cable networks cancelling great original shows, like how many fucking vampire teenage love drama ideas can these fucking idiots force feed down our throats. we got fuckin teen wolf remakes gettin slated for new seasons and that god awful shitshow they called graceland. i watched the first 5 minutes and wanted to punch the main actor in the throat. no criminal would ever believe him to be any other thing than a preppy fbi undercover snitch, and he'd get iced in like 2 seconds. they already cancelled burn notice and now there gonna cancel the second best show they have, if they cancel white collar im boycotting this channel for the rest of my life

  11. I guess Matt Bomer becoming famous might be a problem in this case...he is already one of the best paid actors on TV. I suspect the cost for the cast plus the cost for shooting in New York make it the most expensive show on TV. It has a lot of out-door shots, too. There is only so much you can do with product placement.

  12. i hope they see the show as an investement, I mean Tim and Matt guest in lot of shows, talking about the show, maybe more paid publicity inside the show , I remember that reading somewhere that in its time Queer as Folk add ten minutes to the show to introduce more advertisment... BTW, really?? Matt is making good money in WC?? I didnt expect that ?

  13. There was an article two years ago about the best paid actors on TV - Matt Bomer was on the list, and considering that actors usually get more the longer a show is on and not less, he still should draw quite a salary. Especially now that his career is taking off. They better make a decision fast, or their main actor won't be available.

  18. I' greedy I want as many more seasons as we can get

  19. I think that it makes sense to have at least one more season, even if it were shortened. Kidnapping Neal shouldn't be able to be resolved in one 90 minute movie.

  20. Please give us another full season of White Collar! It can't just end with Neal getting kidnapped and leaving us in suspense and possibly forever without any conclusion!
