A long-gestating series offshoot from TNT‘s successful The Librarian original movies is inching closer to a green light as a 10-episode, straight-to-series at TNT. Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment, which was behind the three Librarian movies, would be back as producer, partnering with the movies’ star Noah Wyle, who is in early talks to serve as an executive producer as well as reprise his role as Flynn Carsen in several episodes as he has a full-time job on TNT’s hit series Falling Skies. Also eyed to reprise their roles from the movies are Bob Newhart and Jane Curtin. Tentatively titled The Librarians, the proposed series would revolve around a group of younger men and women eager to become Flynn’s successor as the protector of secret artifacts. The green light for the series is cast-contingent, hinging on finding an actress for the lead role of a strong, ass-kicking woman. I hear the character is conceived as British, with actresses like Melissa George and Rhona Mitra as prototypes.

Well, Noah's not really starring in it, but good for him! Still haven't watched the movies, actually. Wanted to, but never did.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds awesome the movies were great , although my only problem is that if Noah isn't going to star in it then i don't think it will be as good as the movies but maybe it will surprise me (if it goes ahead).
ReplyDeleteCan this PLEASE happen!? I love the movies and always said that it would make a great show. Even if Noah isn't in every episode, I think it could work.
ReplyDeleteI would watch that. The movies were great!
ReplyDeleteI would watch it. The movies were great!
ReplyDeletePlus, there isn't anything like it on televisions right now and I can use some Indiana-Jones type televisions show to add to my schedule!
Why not just get Melissa George then or Anna Friel? Anyway this sounds really interesting!!! Anything Dean Devlin is great. Will have to check out the movies now. Based on what I read now sounds very Warehouse 13 meets Helic Hunter. With W13 ending I need a new similar fix.
ReplyDeleteYES YES YES
ReplyDeleteYou really should, nice films to watch :)
ReplyDeleteI want this this much. Hope it doesn't mean the worst for Falling Skies though. TNT has a bad habit of killing things I love.
ReplyDeleteYes and nothing ever changes, ever. Cheers to permanency.
ReplyDeleteWarehouse13: TNT. I am all for this. I enjoyed the movies.
ReplyDeleteHe will be in few episodes only.
ReplyDeleteActually according to release Noah will reprise his role but only for a few appearances bc it clearly states he has a full time job on Falling Skies.
