FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA TO MAKE SPECIAL APPEARANCE ON NBC’S CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED COMEDY ‘PARKS AND RECREATION’

Appearance to Take Place on Comedy’s Season Finale Episode Airing Thursday, April 24 (8-9 p.m. ET)

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — Feb. 27, 2014 — First Lady Michelle Obama is set to make a special cameo appearance on the season finale of NBC’s critically acclaimed comedy “Parks and Recreation.” The season six finale is set for Thursday, April 24 (8-9 p.m. ET).

Mrs. Obama’s scene in the episode titled “Moving Up” was filmed in late February in Miami where she celebrated investments in healthier out-of-school programs as part of her “Let’s Move” initiative dedicated to solving the challenge of childhood obesity.

The First Lady’s appearance is not the first time real-world politics have interwoven with the “Parks and Recreation” storyline. National figures who have appeared on the series include Vice President Joe Biden, Arizona Sen. John McCain, California Sen. Barbara Boxer and former Maine Sen. Olympia Snowe.

“Parks and Recreation,” which airs Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT, centers on Leslie Knope, a proud civil servant in the Parks and Recreation Department of Pawnee, Ind. The series stars Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Aziz Ansari, Adam Scott, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Retta and Jim O'Heir.

“Parks and Recreation” is a production of Deedle-Dee Productions, Fremulon, 3 Arts Entertainment and Universal Television. Greg Daniels, Michael Schur, Howard Klein, David Miner, Morgan Sackett and Dean Holland serve as executive producers.

“Let’s Move!” is a comprehensive initiative, launched by the First Lady, dedicated to solving the challenge of childhood obesity within a generation, so that children born today will grow up healthier and can live up to their boundless potential. Combining comprehensive strategies with common sense, Let's Move! is about putting children on the path to a healthy future during their earliest months and years. Giving parents helpful information and fostering environments that support healthy choices, providing healthier foods in our schools, ensuring that every family has access to healthy, affordable food. And, helping kids become more physically active. More information can be found at www.letsmove.gov.

  1. I can only imagine how much security there will be during the filming of this episode O.o
But that's awesome! I love it whenever politicians and other important real-life public figures in society make appearances in TV shows! I honestly don't watch this show, but I'm considering watching this episode!

  2. They've had quite a few politicians show up. Some I can't name, but some include John McCain and Joe Biden.

  3. I hope they write her scenes accordingly. I think she's charming, but not great at acting. At all. lol. Last night actually I watched last week's Jimmy Fallon with her when she guested on his skit "EW!" and it was like watching something from PBS. lol

  4. I think I've only seen her on iCarly.
