MOVIES: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 - Philip Seymour Hoffman to be digitally recreated for one scene

7 Feb 2014

The filmmakers behind the “Hunger Games” movies will digitally recreate late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman in a major yet-to-be-shot scene, sources from the flick said.

Editors will use computer graphics and camera tricks — instead of rewriting the script — to film at least one heartfelt scene featuring Hoffman’s character, the gamesmaker Plutarch Heavensbee.

  1. Wait, what? Can people do that? I mean like holograms and stuff? Please say yes.

  2. Oh wow. Not sure ho I feel about this. I guess it's better than a complete re-write...

  3. Well they did something similar with Scott Speedman in the most recent Underworld movie. Plus Tron: Legacy had a digitally recreated, young version of Jeff Bridges. It's not out there, just adds a bit more work on their part.

  5. The Tittle should say The Hunger Games: Mockinjay Part 1 and 2 not Catching Fire that was the last one.... they can do that but the most difficult part would be the voice, his line i guess will be for someone else

  6. Wow, no, I hand't seen it. Amazing. Btw, how beautiful is Charlize Theron? Seriously, woman, give us a break.

And I agree, I think it would be respectful to Hoffman. I'm sure they'll contact his family first and make sure everything is done properly.

  7. They did it with Oliver Reed in Gladiator.

  8. They also did it with Brandon Lee in The Crow, I think. Sucks that he died, especially the way he did. Always enjoyed his work.

  9. I love the Underworld movies but I actually did not care for the last one they made at all. To me it felt like it was meant for straight to DVD or television or something. Did not feel like it was part of the franchise.
