CBS Developing new CSI Spin-Off

18 Feb 2014

Spinoff will revolve around a special agent in charge of a cyber crime division of the FBI

The network is working on another iteration of the “CSI” franchise — which has already included “CSI: Miami” and “CSI: NY” — in the form of a cyber crime spinoff planted within show drama.

The spinoff will explore a world where technology has amplified human behavior to the point where faceless criminals are committing crimes at global proportions with a touch of a button. Avery Ryan, special agent in charge at the Cyber Crime Division of the FBI in Quantico, Va., is tasked to solve high octane crimes that start in the mind, live online, and play out into the real world.

  1. The concept seems cool but how is this in ANY way related to CSI other than, presumably, the way the crimes are solved? This seems like a combo of CSI (for the solving), Intelligence (for the technology) and The Following (for the FBI).

  2. CBS ordered this pretty late, seeing that is is airing as backdoor pilot in spring.

What have we done for deserving this?

Those pilots and that new spin-off proliferation have started keeping me away from watching new series, as the number of watchable shows is only dropping.

This fall season was dreadful and 2014 does not look any better.

  4. A CSI spinoff interesting but it sounds like a different concept

  5. year by year tv series are getting worse and worse, nothing original...So many premieres every season and so few watchable shows, hardly any of the series that started recently will be given second season.

  6. Dear God, Intelligence and CSI are having a baby. Looks like someone should have used some birth control. And the quality of T.V. slips a little further...

  7. This could be great! A mixture of Elementary POI, and Intelligence, NCIS type things thrown in i can see it going places.

  8. Haha, this just makes me laugh. CSI is a dying franchise for sure. I watched an episode of the original a few weeks ago because I had to Viggle it (great app, TV lovers!) and there was nothing else on...the acting and writing seems much much worse than I remember it being but I haven't watched it in years, so maybe my memory is off. But damn. Seems like they should just kill this franchise.

  9. But not at the expense of intelligence!

  10. How is this related to CSI. I like the concept, but I don't ser any resemblance between this and CSI.

  11. That's exactly what we need.. Another boring CBS procedural.

  12. Another cop show? I just got into Castle and love it but c'mon.. do we really need another cop show? Castle, Rookie Blue, Csi Vagas, Criminal Minds, Hawaii 5, NCIS, NCIS LA, The Mentalist, Intelligence, Chicago PD, Law and Order, and Broadchurch to name a small selection. Do we REALLY need another cop/crime show?!

  13. How about instead they bring back CSI NY? Or just not bother with this. I used to like CSI but now I just don't want to watch it. There's much more interesting TV on.

  14. No,of course not.

  15. When Isaw the title, I was very excited as a big CSI fan but now, I'm disappointed. This is not CSI! I wish they would do "CSI:LA" or "CSI: Chicago" with the original concept instead of this...

  16. We getting it because people watch those shows. You don't get spin-offs if the original show doesn't do well.

  17. And its not just cop shows.that could also be said for just about everything that is on the air right now. You have your vampire shows, your SyFy shows,Medical shows and law shows. Its been happening for the past 50 years and will continue for the next 50 years...

  18. "You don't get spin-offs if the original show doesn't do well."

Tell that to NBC. I don't believe they chose to follow that logic with Chicago Fire / Chicago PD. :)

  19. Yeah, i'd love some fresh ideas to but at least with the supernatural element you can be more creative. I tend to watch one show in each genre because I personally get very bored quickly but I love supernatural and sci fi shows since they can be different in different ways.

  20. not too psyched about yet another CSI-ish procedural... even though it could be interesting, I'd prefer to see CBS try something a bit more daring than their usual bag of tricks

  21. How bout a show about a Vampire Cop who protects the city from rouge vampires lol

  22. I was watching a re-run of CSI:Miami and was joking to my brother saying why not they do CSI: Los Angeles lol

  23. WHAT

I mean, might be cool, but how it is related to CSI?

Are they hoping to put Mags there once Intelligence craps out?

  24. So this is CSI: Cyber Scene Investigation?

  25. Ever heard of the show 'Moonlight'? ;)

  26. But it's NBC....

  27. Damn it and i thought my idea was original lol

  28. GOD not another one. I did like it back in the day.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yeah, that was my point. NBC aren't exactly the geniuses of the broadcast TV world.
