-Ratings Breakdown:
Led by an estimated 27.0 rating/41 share from 7-8 p.m. for the San Diego Chargers at the Denver Broncos on an NFL primetime football overrun, CBS concluded the week on a winning overnight note. But the “71st Annual Golden Globe Awards” on NBC, hosted by Tina Fey and newly minted Golden Globe winner Amy Poehler, rose to a seven-year high with a 14.1/21 in the overnights from 8-11 p.m. Comparably, that was up by 8 percent from the year-ago evening (which translated into 19.69 million viewers, based on the live plus same day data) and 21 percent from 2012 (11.7/18). For a complete listing of the winners, click on the following: http://tinyurl.com/m6tmkc5

Earlier in the evening on NBC was the “Golden Globes Arrival” special at a 5.5/ 9 from 7-8 p.m.

Leading out of the mammoth NFL primetime overrun on CBS was an 8 p.m. edition of “60 Minutes” at a second-place 11.8/17, followed by “The Good Wife” (#2: 7.3/11) and “The Mentalist” (#2: 6.6/11) from 9-11 p.m., which held up despite facing “The Golden Globes.”

Elsewhere, the results were limited. ABC populated the evening with veteran “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (#3: 3.1/ 5), 8 p.m. special “The Bachelor: Behind the Scenes” (#4: 2.3/ 3), “Revenge” (#3: 3.7/ 5) and “Betrayal” (#3: 2.0/ 3). And Fox aired repeats of “Bob’s Burgers” (#4: 1.4/ 2) and “American Dad” (#4: 1.5/ 2) from 7-8 p.m., followed by “The Simpsons” (#3: 3.0/ 4), “Bob’s Burgers” (#3: 2.5/ 4), “Family Guy” (#4: 3.4/ 5) and “American Dad” (#4: 2.7/ 4) from 9-11 p.m.

About the Daily Ratings

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.

The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).

Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.

Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.

Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.

If you are new to ratings or still confused, we recommend you read this excellent Ratings FAQ.

Nice to see the CBS dramas be pretty steady, although I wonder if they'll take a big demo hit.

  3. Revenge? What does it mean??

  4. Bet the Golden Globes are happy they booked Amy and Tina to host next year! Whilst I find award show tedious they are good hosts.

  5. Why Revenge is not a loser this week ?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Because the HH ratings increased from the 8pm show.

  7. Tina and Amy are a good Team the people who cast the hosts must be happy cause they do a great job with them....

TGW and TM ratings will be hard to predict. They were up against the Golden Globes but the CBS primetime recieved a huge NFL lead-in (and their aired on time, not almost 1 hour delayed).

  9. What does 6.6/11 on the article?

    Oh ABC, you are ridiculous.

TGW beats TM in viewrs but skews a bit older, I hope it beats it on the demo, TM needs to go.

  12. Great for Revenge, a 1.6 against Downton Abbey, Golden Globes etc wow :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. CBS drama went good against GG

  14. Devon Maxwell-Pierce13 January 2014 at 16:44

Good ratings for TM and TGW relative to themselves, although I bet CBS would like to capitalize on that whopper of a lead-in more.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Although Mentalist +0.2 pt for the 18-49, 1.8% and this is not the final results will be higher.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Great for REVENGE. Honestly, I expected 1.4 but to get 1.6 in this horrible lead-in and strong competition, that's quiet good.

Also, the episode was amazing. Loved it so much. It's finally back to the awesomeness of Season 1. Go Revenge!

  17. disqus_BLvd5NQY3F13 January 2014 at 16:52

    TM go up again!

    ReplyDelete
  18. The Good Wife's highest rating in a year.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Considering the weaker lead-in as opposed to last week (this time it was only a BTS show of The Bachelor, hence getting much lower numbers) and being up against the Globes, Revenge did quite decently, I have to say. Sure, it's not a great number but the show is hanging in there, considering it's dropped to 1.3 and once even 1.2 before. I also think this adds credence to the idea that Revenge isn't lead-in dependent, which is going to be critical when it has a most likely DoA Resurrection leading into it.

    ReplyDelete
  20. They also had an excellent lead in. CBS went into 7:30 PM with a 11.4 rating from NFL. Then followed 60 minutes with a 4.2 , Good Wife scoring a 1.8 and The Mentalist scoring a 1.7. I know this seems a great rating for the dramas but for me is just an inflated by product of the NFL game. I think the real situation for both the Good Wife and Mentalist will be clear in the spring.

    ReplyDelete
  21. TGW and the mentalist are inflated and should fall around 0.4 in the ratings when the finals come out tomorrow, still good though.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Not surprised for the Golden Globes, Tina and Amy were the hosts.... And they were awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The Mentalist did really good considering the Golden Globes were on :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think this was Revenge's strongest performance of the season baring the season premiere. I am so proud of it.

    ReplyDelete
  25. And with a 0.9 lead-in ;)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ow The Mentalist! I know the episode wasn’t good but that great lead in should have moved more! It is going to be adjusted .1-.2 down hopefully not too much. Good Wife did not fare that much better but it is up more. I wonder how much demo is going to get hit.

When is the latest shows are renewed? March? April?

really want TM to go down stop watching!

    ReplyDelete
  28. The episode totally deserved it, too. At this point, I think Season 3 is almost surpassing Season 1 as the best yet. What an endless thrill ride.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sadly I haven't watched it yet. My week has been crazy so far work wise. Hopefully I find the time tonight.
