Banshee - Episode 2.02 - The Thunder Man - Preview and Dialogue Teasers

I enjoyed last weeks heavy exposition return but I know some fans missed the sex, violence and downright creepiness that this show is known for, and of course there wasn't a great deal of screen time for the villain we love to hate, Kai Proctor. But, rest assured it’s business as usual this week, in fact the brutality seems to build in stages throughout the episode until it hits a climatic peek towards the end where director Greg Yaitanes treats us to two beautifully intercut scenes of sheer savagery.

We saw Rebecca make her choice between the farm and her uncle last week, and before the pre-credits roll this week we see her struggle with another choice that involves her uncle. The show has done well in slowly introducing this incest story so far, and this scene is certainly the most inappropriate one so far, it’s extremely uncomfortable to watch even though she is technically by herself the whole time. I think that it also heavily implied that she will now probably go down this path whether she wants to or not by this point and that, unfortunately, it will break one of them.

Elsewhere, Alex is feeling the tribal council breathing down his neck, in particular George Hunter who would happily step into his shoes and take on his role, so it’s no wonder that he is hasty in jumping to conclusions and makes a huge mistake this week. Led by his sister, Nola, he starts playing a very dangerous game of one-upmanship with the wrong man. Whose nerve will hold out the longest, and which of them will end up in a blood bath…

The Thunder Man airs at 10pm on January 17th on Cinemax, below are some teasers to see you through until then. Don’t forget to come back to vote in the poll on the site after the it airs to let us know what you thought of the episode.

“You’re security personal weren't very effective, you may want to talk to them when they wake up”

“We can’t sit back while our tribe’s fiscal security is threatened”

“A few weeks ago you told me you owed me one, I'm sure you recall that conversation”

“Right, not a job you generally associate with getting shot and getting buried in the woods”

“A word to the wise is unnecessary, it’s the damn fool who needs the advice”

“Careful now, I'm trying to be gracious here, to make amends”

“So, you’re one of Proctor’s lackeys, is that it?”

“I'm done sending messages, it’s time to take a more direct approach”

“I want you to know that I left three years ago angry and drunk and I'm neither of those things any more, I've been sober now for two years”

“You don’t put that shit on me, she’s in this mess because of you, not me”

  3. I think the premiere was needed as a breather after the gunfight, to establish that Rabbit is still out there and to give reasons for our main cast to stay put in Banshee/Rebecca to continue with Proctor rather than make a bolt for it to somewhere safer. Now that's all in place it really is business as normal, though it does seem to build slowly through the episode, and the person who swings the first punch might be a surprise! lol
