Oh wow, Deathstoke in all of his glory! About damn time. Cannot wait to see Ollie start to train Roy. I would be excited to see a similar relationship to Timothy Olyphants character and #4 in I Am Number 4. That could be pretty bad ass. Might even see some Laurel action next week to get her back on track to being likeable and vote worthy to be Black Canary.
It's good to see Laurel finally get a storyline. Honestly, if they start writing her well it would make me happy for 2 reasons. One, she wouldn't be annoying dead weight anymore but actually relevant. Two, it would prove that the majority of Laurel critics aren't doing it because of Olicity, but because of how her character has been written up until now - so better writing = better feedback.
The problem is that even if they write her better, something needs to be done about Cassidy. I'm usually against making mean comments about an actress' weight/figure, but in her case she genuinely looks unhealthy. Not everyone who is a size 0 looks like that: take Maggie Q from Nikita for example. She's beautiful and natural-looking, and since she even does her own stunts in action scenes, it's clear she's fit and healthy. Cassidy probably isn't any skinnier than Q, but she looks terrible. Her face looks so long now, face and arms are both bony. I think even the makeup and hair departments haven't been doing her favors this season, the overly-curly hair and this week the strong shade of lipstick... not a good look for her. And finally, it's hard to separate the issue of her looks from the issue of her acting because the botox, weight loss and all that stuff makes her so inexpressive. I certainly don't think she's a great thespian or anything, but god knows she was better on Supernatural and even on Arrow last year. It's sad to see such an initially beautiful young woman ruin her appearance this way because of Hollywood's obsession with hiding facial lines/wrinkles and extreme thinness.
I agree with what you said about Cassidy's appearance. Last season I thought she was a very beautiful woman but now . . . Jesus! It actually distracts me from what's happening in the scene. She looks so unhealthy. And it's true. I doubt she is thinner than Maggie Q, who actually always looks healthy, but Cassidy looks terrible. I hope the actress is actually ok because all of this reminds me of Alex O'loughlin in Hawaii 5-O, when he had become addicted to painkillers after an injury. Cassidy's appearance actually fits with Laurel's storyline right now and her downward spiral with the pills and everything but there's no way all of this is for artistic reasons. She looks like she has a problem. Especially considering camera generally "adds" weight to the actors. I can't imagine what she looks like in reality. I hope I'm wrong and she just lost weight without realizing it.
It would be sad irony if Cassidy was actually going through a hard time in her personal life and popping pills to deal, just like her character. Hope she's okay. I've criticized her a lot as an actress, even wondered if she's only on the show because The CW is so in love with her, but I wish no ill on her as a person of course.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Oh man! This gave me chills. Can't wait for the Slade action!! Extended promos are always worth staying up for.

ReplyDeleteNot sure I like the Deathstroke mask but will know better once I see the actual episode.

ReplyDeleteDid Oliver just tell Quentin "I will get her home"? Does that mean Quentin finally puts the pieces together?
ReplyDeleteThe guy noticed the mask right on, he clearly knows
ReplyDeleteNot necessarily. This could be after Laurel's arrest and not about the rescuing she'll inevitably need during the upcoming episode.

ReplyDeleteDid Oliver said that he was the arrow??
ReplyDeleteI think it's nice, mostly because it looks like the armor he used in Batman Arkham Origins and the Injustice game. looked pretty nice, but let's see..
ReplyDeleteI think Lance is about to figure out the truth. Can't wait!
