TNT gives Pilot Orders to Dramas Proof & Guilt By Association

The Closer star/executive producer Kyra Sedgwick is back at TNT with another female-centered procedural drama project, this time strictly behind the camera. The cable network has given a pilot order to Proof, a supernatural medical drama executive produced by Sedgwick. Additionally, TNT has greenlighted a legal drama pilot co-written by Marcia Clark, the lead prosecutor in the O.J. Simpson trial, and Nashville showrunner Dee Johnson.

Written by Rob Bragin (Greek), Proof centers on a skeptical, hard science, female surgeon who’s struggled with family issues including a tragic death. She is persuaded to investigate cases of reincarnation, out-of-body experiences, hauntings — all of it looking for verifiable proof, to try to answer one of life’s greatest questions: Is death truly the end, or is there something … beyond?. Bragin and Sedgwick executive produce with her manager Jill Littman and producer Tom Jacobson (Ladykillers). There are no plans for Sedgwick to star.

Clark and Johnson’s Guilt By Association is based on Clark’s novel about Rachel Knight, a gutsy Deputy District Attorney in the Special Trials Unit of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

She works closely with a tough-as-nails female LAPD detective named Bailey Keller and a stylish female prosecutor named Toni LaCollette, both of whom routinely crash at Rachel’s place. Nelson McCormick, who has served as director on both The Closer and Rizzoli & Isles and directed the latter’s pilot, is on board to direct the pilot for Guilt By Association and also will executive produce.

  2. ya proof sounds cool, but like most of its kind it gets canceled fast. But I really like Reincarnation stories and the new connections they make, and out of body expedience is always great.

Guilt By Association, what is this a lesbian drama? not that i mind, actually i want it to be that. and even if its not, I hope this"both of whom routinely crash at Rachel’s place" is prominent in the show like every episode. I like those set up post work and stuff.

  3. Yeah, you're right but it's a pretty unique concept on TV. Developed a lot but rarely picked up. I read recently there's been an increase in the population from being in an organized religion to general spirituality, if that's true there'd be a slightly bigger interest. Hopefully it it gets picked up, it's good and also I would hope TNT would put the effort into marketing it right.

  4. ha, Marcia Clark, here's hoping she writes better than she was as a prosecutor because that did not work out well. ;)

Proof sound interesting, kind of like the Mary O'Reilly Paranormal Mystery book series I am reading about an ex cop that helps ghost move on.

  5. Proof sounds very interesting. I'd love to see KaDee Strickland in the leading role.
