STV Podcast 65 - The Best and Worst of 2013 Argument

24 Dec 2013

CJ, The ODI and guest Bradley debate the best and worst of 2013. As usual no one can agree and it leads to some funny arguments about what deserves the awards.
We unfortunately can't watch all TV shows so we have not mentioned some fan favourites however have your say in the comments below on what you think is deserving of awards.

It's our annual review of the year podcast but rather than having a typical "this is what we think was great" we like to argue the case for our favourite shows, what we found didnt live up to expectations and even make up some awards that you wouldn't find on a red carpet. You will also find some very immature and funny behaviour (even if it all just comes from CJ).

We have split the podcast into 2 parts of 1 hour each for easier listening. Keep an eye out for the Spoiler TV staff picks for the best shows of 2013 coming soon.(Update: click here)

The audio podcast is live on itunes and help us move up the TV&Movie charts . Also don't forget to subscribe and review!

  10. Thanks for this guys!
    PART 1:
I have to say, I absolutely agree with you CJ about Amy Acker, she's easily one of my favorites. As much as I loved Taraji in her last episodes, Amy had many more amazing scenes both at the end of last season and at the beginning of this one. And yes to Michael Cerveris! He was brilliant! Then again, so many fantastic performances on Fringe in general (John Noble, Josh Jackson, Anna Torv...).
Also love the episodes you guys mention: Arrow's "Sacrifice", Person Of Interest's "The Crossing", "The Devil's Share", Fringe's "Enemy Of Fate" (!!!) and that HIMYM's scene was amazing.
But, I would definitely give John Noble Award to John Noble for last episodes of Fringe alone, but ALSO for Sleepy Hollow where he's pretty fantastic too. Also worth mentioning: Jensen Ackles, I don't know if any of you watches SPN, but I have to say, no matter what happens on this show, this guy always gives fantastic performances (and so does his co-star, Jared). Those two are brilliant. I so wish they would get more recognition. Maybe after SPN ends... Another one: Michelle Fairley. I can't believe after last season of GOT she's not mentioned more when it comes to awards.

    PART 2:
Death scene - Carter or Red Wedding's victims, also worth mentioning Tommy on Arrow and Ryan on Nikita (very recent).
Yeah, I can't choose the worst show. Not good at it. But I feel like I have to say, I do love SHIELD! It gets better every week.
The FBI Award from me goes to Linda on Under The Dome. I can't believe she's a cop. That's just...no words. Don't watch The Following, so I don't know how things are there. I guess not good.
TV highlight of 2013: Doctor Who 50th celebration, Fringe's finale and Person Of Interest.
Best Film: So hard to choose. Haven't seen Hobbit 2 yet. Loved Iron Man 3, Catching Fire, Star Trek 2 and more. I would have to watch some more films and remember the ones I've seen. And then, I could maybe choose.
Same with the shows. I could name a few: Person Of Interest, Arrow, Sleepy Hollow (biggest surprise of the season for me), Doctor Who, Fringe... Some honorable mentions: Teen Wolf, Nikita, Continuum, Psych, The Mentalist. But I could name more ;)
My favorite comedies: new - B99, The Crazy Ones, Trophy Wife, returning - HIMYM, Parks and Rec. Also good: TBBT, Modern Family.

  32. Love how you put in the BatB, Castle and SPN tags even though we didn't mention them lol. This whole podcast is still making me laugh thinking about it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. its because we didnt mention them and they are popular shows on the site that also need a chance to have their views heard :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Jared Padalecki has been outstanding on SPN especially the back half of season 8 and so far this season essentially playing 3 characters. He's probably one of the most underrated and underapreciated actors on tv today. No matter what the show's writers throw at him (which is literally anything and everything) he always delivers amazing performances.
