This table shows the early overnight ratings. These ratings are normally adjusted later in the day when all the ratings have been consolidated to take into account any local preemptions and/or overruns. You can find all the final adjusted numbers in our Ratings Database. (See the About section below for details about ratings)

Metered Market Wednesday Ratings
Easy Victory for CBS
Wednesday 12/11/13
Household
Rating/Share
CBS 6.8/11
ABC 4.7/ 8
NBC 3.8/ 6
Fox 3.7/ 6
CW 1.7/ 3
———-
-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Wednesday 12/12/12:
NBC: +36, CBS: – 1, CW: – 6, ABC: -19, Fox: -31
———-
-Winners:
“Survivor” (CBS), “Modern Family” (ABC), “Criminal Minds” (CBS), “CSI” (CBS)
-Honorable Mention:
“The Middle” (ABC)
-Losers (excluding repeats):
“Back in the Game” (ABC), “Super Fun Night” (ABC), ”The Tomorrow People” (CW), Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Christmas Music Tale” (NBC)
———-
-Ratings Breakdown:
It was another midweek Wednesday overnight victory for CBS care of its combination of “Survivor: Blood vs. Water” (6.3 rating/10 share), “Criminal Minds” (7.4/12) and “CSI” (6.9/12), which were all right on par, on average, from the year-ago evening. In other words, there is every reason to believe CBS will keep this line-up intact next season (if deals are signed for the veteran crime solvers, of course). The current edition of “Survivor” concludes this Sunday in the 8-10 p.m. block (followed by the live reunion show).
Second-place ABC, as always, got a boost from “Modern Family” at 9 p.m. (#2: 7.3/12), which will top the night among adults 18-49 (and other key demos) with ease. But lead-out “Super Fun Night” remained a super flop at a 3.8/ 6 at 9:30 p.m. (#3t – with 52 percent retention out of “Modern Family”). And sophomore drama “Nashville” followed with a 3.7/ 6 at 10 p.m., which inched past competing NBC special “Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Christmas Music Tale” (#3: 3.6/ 6) by one-tenth of a rating point.
Earlier in the evening was always reliable “The Middle” (#2: 5.6/ 9) and canceled “Back in the Game” (#2: 4.1/ 7) from 8-9 p.m.
Over at NBC, two-hours of holiday completion “The Sing-Off” scored a modest 3.9/ 6 from 8-10 p.m., which was 29 percent behind the 5.9/ 9 for its expanded season-premiere on Monday (from 9-11 p.m.). And that opener, of course, got a boost out of “The Voice.” Yes…lead-in still matters.
Elsewhere, diluted “The X Factor” on Fox scored a 3.7/ 6 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m., which was 31 percent below the 5.4/ 9 one year earlier. And solid “Arrow” (#5: 2.2/ 4) on The CW led into a disappointing 1.2/ 2 (#5) for “The Tomorrow People” at 9 p.m. Comparably, retention for “The Tomorrow People” out of the 8:30 p.m. portion of “Arrow” (2.1/ 3) was just 57 percent.

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.
If you’re interested in Ratings/Renewals/Cancellations then we have a number of resources here at SpoilerTV that we recommend you check out.

I seriously can't understand anything from these ratings. Someone help, please!
ReplyDeleteWait until the 18-49 demographics are released, Berman's overnights are extremely pointless and usually tell us nothing about how a show actually performed.
ReplyDeleteThey basically mean nothing. We just have to wait until the preliminary numbers come out in an hour or so.
ReplyDeleteIt has nothing to do with ratings, but I want CSI to die. Every time I read Marc speculate on its return, another part of my soul evaporates. I was a HUGE fan of that show for the first 12 years, but it's a creative shell of its former self, they've completely lost sight of their roots, and the actors look bored. I hate the focus on the new characters at the expense of the old. TPTB are rude to fans on Twitter. I've never wanted a show to go off the air so badly in my life. I'm not sure Ted Danson still has his legs, because he hasn't moved from that chair since the premiere.
ReplyDeleteThis data says more about viewership then about dvr, that is how u have to see it
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. Can't wait till they're out! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!! I wonder why they release it in the first place?
ReplyDeleteTPTB? :)
ReplyDeleteWhich show is that?
these are the very first ratings available, they mostly indicate how many households watched a show, but what really matters is the demographics which are released later (in about an hour from now).
ReplyDeleteOh, just an acronym for the powers that be. :)
ReplyDelete3.0 in the millons for Arrow! Wonder what that means for the demo.

Damn..Nashville....DAMN.
ReplyDeleteNashville is hanging on a thread I don't expect a S3
ReplyDeleteIs that a series low for TTP?
ReplyDeleteyou mean demo not DVR?
ReplyDeleteyes it is in both demo and total viewers (pending final adjustments)
ReplyDeleteYes, in both viewers and demo.
ReplyDeleteNoo!! The Tomorrow People can't drop any further! It was so steady. It should go up, not down!
ReplyDeleteArrow did well but that does not bode well for TTP we will have to see how it does when it comes back in January but not good to be ending the year so low.
ReplyDeleteIS Back In The Game is wrong TVBTN has it as a 1.5?
ReplyDeleteFrom CW Press release:
ReplyDeleteLast night’s midseason finale of ARROW, part two of the Barry Allen story arc, hit a series high in M18-34 (1.6/6), ranking #1 in the hour. ARROW delivered The CW’s best M18-34 rating for any show in more than three years (Smallville on 10/29/10). It’s the network’s best performance in M18-34 in the Wednesday 8-9 pm time period in more than five years (10/29/08).
ARROW also matched its second highest rating ever in A18-34 (1.1/4), and tied its second best number of the season in A18-49 (1.1/3). ARROW was up 10% from last year’s midseason finale in both A18-34 and A18-49, and was virtually on par with last week’s rating in both demos.
ARROW also tied both Fox and ABC at 8pm in A18-34.
I won't Panic about the Tomorrow people until spring. There are still two shows that could bomb and with Nikita being gone, TCD and Batb looking to be on their way out, it may scrape a renewal.
ReplyDeleteOh God, The Tomorrow People :(
ReplyDeleteI really hope it's adjusted up, and Arrow too.
If the CW do choose to move one of Reign/TTP to Mondays at midseason, today's ratings might make them decide which show to move and basically cancel before spring time (Mondays are bad for the CW.) I think TTP entered the danger zone now.
ReplyDeleteIf they would bring back Matt Davis I would be compelled to watch CSI again
ReplyDeleteYay for Arrow being in the 3 millions. But TTP...was nice knowing you.
ReplyDeleteYep, fixed now. Seems a typo in the early press release.
ReplyDeleteArrow dis great i wans t expecting to go Up, cause we are not talking about TVD which has a better fan base but it still good for the show, it can stand on his own and that`s great, TTP woao what a drop from last week, Hope Reign keeps steady tonight if it goes up even better but im doubting that!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to watch a show that one dislikes. Thank goodness not everyone watches a shows don't like, I would really hate for CSI to go I still enjoy it very much
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched since they changed the leader of the CSI group for a 3rd time, and a couple others were replaced. When a show loses most of its original actors it is a bad sign. I just lost interest. I love it when my shows get a long time on air, but even my most favorite shows I would not want on longer than 10 seasons, and that is pushing it. Even if the plot doesn't get boring sometimes I get bored just because it has been on for many years.
ReplyDeleteTTP moves to Mondays March 17
ReplyDeleteno :_( TTP is awesome. It is annoying to life in another country and seeing this...
ReplyDeleteThat was really helpful. Thanks a lot! :D
ReplyDeleteYou're most welcome :)
