The end of November is approaching rapidly, and most Thursday shows are coming to the end of their initial unbroken run of episodes.

CBS's The Big Bang Theory has led Thursdays all season, with all but one of its 9 episodes to date rating higher than 5.0 in the adults 18-49 demographic. Last night's episode was better than most though, with a 5.3 rating and 18.94 million viewers garnered. That makes it the third highest rated and third most viewed episode of the season, with the two episodes that have ranked higher airing back-to-back in premiere week. The Big Bang Theory had a week's break at the end of October, and takes another week's now, returning for its penultimate episode of the year on December 5.

ABC's Grey's Anatomy hasn't been doing as strongly as previous seasons, but that's the trend across the majority of televisions series at the moment. A steady 8.61 million viewers tuned in for Thursday's episode, which is right on par with most other episodes this season. Under ABC's unique split season format, there's still 2 episodes to go this year for Grey's Anatomy, though the show will take next week off before it rounds out the year. So far the season is averaging a 2.87 rating and 8.92 million viewers, but those figures jump to a 4.81 rating and 13.047 million viewers when Live+7 DVR data is included.

CBS's Elementary isn't as popular as last season with late night viewers, despite the series improving in quality this season over last. Thursday's episode garnered a 1.8 rating and 9.24 million viewers. Four out of the last 5 episodes have seen 1.8 ratings, so it's a number that Elementary seems to have settled into, which is backed up by the 1.81 season average rating. However the audience figure broke the 9 million viewer mark for the first time in 3 weeks, and was 700,000 viewers larger than the previous week's 8.54 million viewers. Like most other Thursday shows, Elementary takes a break for a week, and returns on December 5.

ABC's best rating drama, Scandal, continues to do exceptionally well at 10|9c. Thursday's episode garnered a 2.9 rating and 8.93 million viewers. That makes four from the last 5 episodes to make the 2.9 rating mark. The season is averaging a 3.05 rating and 9.18 million viewers, largely thanks to the first three episodes of the season which broke the 3.0 ratings mark. From the 5 episodes that have Live+7 DVR data available, those figures jump to 4.70 and 13.150 million viewers. Compare those Live+7 numbers to its lead-in, Grey's Anatomy above, and it makes for pretty impressive reading. Scandal also takes a week off and will return on December 5.

That's all for now. Remember you can see all the data along with graphs for all these shows on my website, www.seriesmonitor.com

  1. so glad Grey's is doing well when the Live+7 DVR is included, that's impressive for a shot that's been in the air for 10 years!
