While the Doctor himself is more than 1,000 years old, this week sees a raft of celebrations to mark his 50th anniversary.

On Monday a ceremony at Buckingham Palace starts the countdown to Saturday night's special episode.

Lizo Mzimba went behind the scenes to meet three Doctors and one companion during filming.
