Hi folks,

Today is the first half of the Quarter Finals, and we have two incredibly tough to call battles, as one of the biggest cultural phenomenons of recent years, Game of Thrones, takes on one of the phenomenons of years past, in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

We also have a smashing battle between two time winner Supernatural, aiming to home in on a third title in four years. To do so it will have to face the might of Joss Whedon head on, as Firefly stands between the Winchesters and a semi final spot.

For anyone who missed the rules, here they are again:

1) Two shows will go into battle in a poll, where after exactly 24 hours, the leading show will win the battle and will progress into the next round.
2) Vote for you favourite, spread the word with your friends & fans.
3) Comment on what you voted for on in the comments below.
4) Have fun. This is a friendly & competitive competition.

    Game of Thrones on the first one, especially because one of the few horses I still have in the running. Supernatural got my vote on the second one but I am not very invested. I have seen like half of season 1 and I liked it; firefly I only saw the movie and I also liked it, but still saw a bit more of supernatural.

    Firefly I never actually started, I just saw the movie by chance on TV once. Supernatural yes I intend to, but it is impossible during regular season. Maybe next summer.

    I love Game of Thrones, SPN, Buffy and Firefly. So that poll wasn't easy for me.


    On the one hand GoT is beautifully acted, well written but awfully paced. Trough three years there hasn't really been a feel that anything huge happened, alltough so much shit went down.
    Buffy was well acted, beautifully written and well paced. Every season had a climax and its emotional ups and downs and while I find myself walking to the fridge getting a beer while certain GoT storylines are going on I could never stand up while watching Buffy because I was so fascinated.
    But while GoT almost soley consists of good episodes the same can't be said of Buffy, because the occasional filler did annoy me. But considering that a season of Buffy usually had 22 (in the case of season 1 12) episodes I'll let that pass.


    Not easy for me but I have to vote for Buffy. I grew up with it and it's basically the reason I'm addicted to television


    Supernatural vs. Firefly. Now that's a tough one as well. Supernatural is soon entering its ninth year while Firefly was denied even a second. Firefly had a full cast of strong characters to back it up and managed to create a threatening atmosphere with a low budget (the Reaver ship). But sadly many plot points that were hinted at were never fully answered (Shepards ID) not even in Serenity.
    Supernatural started out with the typical MotW principe and would certainly loose to Firefly if I only had the first season to judge from but it doesen't it has 8 years. 8 years that were a emotional rollercoaster ride for me. The show has 4 extremely strong characters that share a bond that even tough fictional is very well feelable for the audience and the evolution from the classic horror movie scenario to a heaven vs. hell storyline was well done. Of course season 6 and 7 sucked donkey balls but even these seasons had fantastic episodes (The French Mistake, The Man that would be King, Meet the new Boss, Deaths Door, Survival of the Fittest just to name a few.)
    In the end Supernatural simply has the benefit of having had more time to grow on us. I don't know how that poll would look like if Firefly had more than one season.

    SPN was easy, it always gets my unconditional vote. First one was really hard, moving toward the final of this competition I find more and more of shows I love run against each other. But - GoT it is.

    I don't think the poll counted my vote. I checked it before I voted then I voted for Game of Thrones but when it showed the results the votes for Game of Thrones where still the same.
