———-
-Ratings Breakdown:
ABC and NBC tied for overnight Monday dominance, each with a hefty 3.5 household rating point advantage over third-place Fox. But the home of “The Voice,” NBC, will hold a solid advantage in adults 18-49 (and other key young demos), while Fox is poised for second place. While CBS’ revamped sitcom block experienced minor growth thanks to “2 Broke Girls,” now at 8:30 p.m. ET, into an encore of “The Big Bang Theory” at 9 p.m. it was not enough to lift it out of fourth place for the evening in the household overnights.
It was neck-and-neck in the overnights between “Dancing With the Stars” versus “The Voice” from 8-10 p.m., with a 9.0 rating/14 share for “Dancing With the Stars” just one-tenth of a rating point (or one percent) above the 8.9/14 for “The Voice.” Year-to-year, however, “Dancing With the Stars” dipped by 13 percent (versus a 10.4/16 on 10/15/12), while “The Voice” built by 10 percent (versus an 8.1/12). Regardless, both reality/competitions remain highly competitive options with two very different audiences and the absence of the live “Dancing With the Stars” results show on Tuesday only makes this Monday edition stronger creatively.
Week four of drama “The Blacklist” on NBC won the 10 p.m. hour with a 7.3/12 in the overnights, which was 38 percent above year-ago occupant “Revolution” (5.3/ 9). Retention for “The Blacklist” out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of “The Voice” (9.5/14) was respectable at 77 percent.
Second at 10 p.m. was healthy “Castle” on ABC at a 7.2/12, followed by struggling “Hostages” on CBS, which sunk to a series-low 3.6/ 6. Comparably, “Hostages” was 39 percent below “Hawaii Five-O” on the year-ago evening (5.9/10). Four week overnight track for “Hostages”: 5.1/ 9 – 4.1/ 7 – 3.8/ 6 – 3.6/ 6.
Earlier in the evening on CBS, “2 Broke Girls” moved back to 8:30 p.m. with a third-place 5.2/ 8, which was 33 percent above the second, and final, episode of canceled “We Are Men” last week (3.9/ 6 on Oct. 7) and 27 percent above failed year-ago time period occupant “Partners” (4.1/ 6 on 10/15/12). Retention for “2 Broke Girls” out of “How I Met Your Mother” (#3: 5.5/ 9 at 8 p.m.) was also solid at 95 percent.
Returning “Mike & Molly” will inherit the Monday 9 p.m. half-hour on the Eye net effective on November 4. But airing in its place last night (and next week as well) was an encore of “The Big Bang Theory” at a third-place 5.6/ 8. Although that was 10 percent above “2 Broke Girls” last week (5.1/ 8 on Oct. 7), week four of lead-out “Mom” was flat at a 4.9/ 7 (#3) at 9:30 p.m., which was 18 percent below year-ago occupant “Mike & Molly” (6.0/ 9 on 10/15/12). Four-week overnight track for “Mom”: 5.5/ 8 – 4.9/ 7 – 4.9/ 7 – 4.9/ 7.
Consistent, meanwhile, was the observation on Fox with the successful 8-10 p.m. pairing of dramas “Bones” (#4: 4.8/ 7) and “Sleepy Hollow” (#4: 4.9/ 7) on par with one week earlier. And that translated into a 2.1 rating/6 share among adults 18-49 for “Bones” and a 2.8/ 7 in the demo for “Sleepy Hollow,” based on the live plus same day data.
The CW capped off this fourth Monday of the new TV season with episode two of the new seasons of newly paired “Hart of Dixie” (#5: 1.1/ 2) and “Beauty and the Beast” (#5: 0.7/ 1), which just cannot compete. One year earlier, “Beauty and the Beast” scored a 1.5/ 2 in the Thursday 9 p.m. hour (out of “The Vampire Diaries”) on 10/18/12.

I'll wait for finals in demo, but for total viewers I'd expect something similar to this.
Amen. Don't get it. It is an awesome show with international fanbase. I am from germany and I just love it *.*
ReplyDeleteI probably sound like a broken record by now but I hope Hostages doesn't get pulled off the schedule.
ReplyDeleteI just wish CBS would officially cancel it already while burning off the remaining episodes so I could have some peace of mind.
GO! BONES!!!
ReplyDeleteRelax ladies its a matter of time the show is completely different now, (not being biased here, I know it had so many flaws before) and maybe its not the cup of tea to some people but it does have a lot of internet buzz. Im just tired of some people downgrading the show just because they dont like it, I dont like half of the shows out there but I dont waste my time putting them down...so as much as it has internet buzz and some following we are alright!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYay for 'The Blacklist'! Up from last weeks 7.0/12 to a 7.3/12. Last weeks gained a 3.2 in the demo so it is either steady with that number or up!
ReplyDeleteCastle was great last night but its ratings are always the same, there's no way it can be improved. :(
ReplyDeleteYeahhhhhhhhhh 2 broke girls!!!!! the best tv comedy on the tv!
ReplyDeleteGlad Sleepy Hollow is stable-ish!
ReplyDeleteDon't go overboard.
ReplyDeleteI have stopped watching a couple of shows but would never be negative in a way the affects their chance of survival.Thank goodness we are noisy on the internet,
ReplyDeleteSince NBC was inflated by Colt/Chargers game, Blacklist will most certainly adjust down, and one must consider the usual Voice overrun also. It seems it is following the same path as Revolution last year.
ReplyDeleteMy poor B&TB is against MONSTERS on Monday, I was worried about Sleepy Hollow, when they're facing TBBT and The Voice!!... o_0
ReplyDeleteAmen. Hate people like that. They don't have a life. Everybody can like what they want. It is not fair to affected the survival of a show. When I don't like something, I just don't watch it
ReplyDeleteI don't get it either. I'm from the Netherlands and I love it too! Great actors and crew.
ReplyDeleteNot bad for HIMYM!
ReplyDeleteCastle is outstanding - 6th season, Castle and Beckett engage, even bigger than normal ratings - amazing!! Proud fan from years ^^
ReplyDeleteIt's probably not helping that it is broadcasted one day earlier somewhere else, making it available online beforehand.
ReplyDeleteI'm not defending BATB its clearly a failure but why does the cw Keep putting shows behind hod it is not a good lead in. It has killed every show that has followed it. (Emily Owens, cult, batb) and knowing this is the cw they'll probably put one of their mid season shows behind it again
ReplyDeleteIf the show had at least equaled Hart's demo you would have a point, but it is loosing from its demo, so your point is mute. Also, Beauty and the Beast is a second year show that spent the entire year after the CW's highest rated show, it should be able to stand on its own.
ReplyDeleteExcellent for How I Met Your Mother I might add
ReplyDeleteI would prefer if it stopped falling, especially since it has an hiatus ahead. But it is already renewed, so it is more about how it handles the 9 months hiatus than anything else.
ReplyDeleteI think NBC was preempted (and the voice had an overrun) though so it might go below a 3. In any case, it is doing excellently, I am super happy for it.
ReplyDeleteYou should defend BatB because it's not a failure at all. This new season is awesome. It's just aired on the wrong network and on the wrong night. It deserves so much better!
ReplyDeleteI am a huge huge fan of Revolution, and I am also becoming a huge fan of the blacklist, so I should be impartial here.
ReplyDeleteThe Blacklist so far: -13%; -6%; 3% (preliminary) - Level at 3.2
Revolution equivalent airings: -17%, -6%, -6% - Level at 3
Please explain how they are following the same path.
2 Broke Girls is a great show but not the best comedy :)
ReplyDeleteCastle is having a great season ratings wise (and quality wise if I might add), ABC wishes more of its shows could be as reliable as Castle, it's probably the least of its problems.
ReplyDeleteNo. You may like the show as much as you want, it is certainly your right (I have watched some season 1 episodes and I don't dislike it at all, I just have too much other stuff I would rather watch with the time I have, but that is a personal thing). But no amount of internet buzz will save your show if the ratings don't show up (or if the CW doesn't have bigger problems elsewhere. I don't think it is a certain cancellation yet (it could be moved to fridays next year with hart of dixie if reign dies with the cw having the 2 monday slots and the thursday slot vacants for new dramas; it could be that the originals or the tomorrow people also collapse - both of which however are pending on the midseason replacements no being better options than it), but it certainly is a very likely cancellation right now and if you are a fan, you should be worried.
ReplyDeleteI agree HOD is a terrible lead in but I don't think Beauty would do that much better with a better lead in either, its bleeding from HOD as it is.
ReplyDeleteSyndication is helping yet another show
ReplyDeleteI think showcase getting #BATB before CW is one of the factors that is affecting the ratings. We won't give up. Beasties are strong.
ReplyDeleteVery unlikely. Unless the people with Nielsen boxes are illigally downloading the episode then it won't affect the ratings at all.
ReplyDeleteThey both started pretty high in the demo. And for the 4th episode both will be around 3.0 demo point. I don't think Blacklist will remain the 3.2 in the finals due to the Voice overrun and the fact NBC was preempted due to the game. It might adjust down to 3.1 or even 3.0 and that would be the same demo Revolution got for its 4th episode. And Revolution even went up for its 5th episode to a 3.3 demo. So i think up to now they are still at the same level. Although Blacklist could hold up better in the spring. (They do have the Winter Olympics to promote it well).
ReplyDeleteYeah, Castle. Just a great episode and show. More people who have never watched should give it a try. You will not be disappointed.
ReplyDeleteYou know that the only other show I watch this fall is SH and unfort is opposed to BatB on Mondays, I find bot showa quite similar without the romance/horror stuff but I gave up SH to dvr and BatB to live. ;)
ReplyDeleteI knew it that with the cancellation of 'We Are Men', 2 Broke Girls would be better again in the ratings. Thank God that CBS cancelling WAM quickly.
ReplyDeleteLove your comment, especially the Stana part (sorry, couldn't resist)!
ReplyDeleteWell, goodbye Beauty and the Beast. :( Hopefully it at least finishes its season, and it's wrapped up its storyline.
ReplyDeleteI wish the ratings for Hostages would go up. Love that show!
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean? English is not my first language..
ReplyDeleteGlass half full: Honestly, at least CW mondays haven't fallen any lower as of this point.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who suddenly can't see the ratings table?
ReplyDeleteI swear there is one person everyday.
ReplyDeleteDelete you cookies and try again. Although the ratings have not been entered in the table yet.
The CW's Monday is a failure.
ReplyDeleteMom is stabilizing, which I think is a good sign. We'll see if M&M will help or hurt it.
Not much more can be said without the 18 to 49s.
Thanks, it worked!
ReplyDeleteHopefully Sleepy Hollow has stop dropping and more people will catch up over the three week break
ReplyDeleteI really hope Bones went up this week. But if it didn't, that's okay as long as it didn't go down.
ReplyDeleteEdit: Ugh. The prelims are exactly the same as last week.
Looks like Sleepy Hollow has stabilized at a pretty good rating! Great news!
ReplyDeleteStable ratings is a good thing for a show in its sixth year.
ReplyDelete3.2 for 'The Blacklist'! Even with last week.
ReplyDeleteI expect demo maybe down a bit from this
ReplyDelete2.2 for Castle YEAH :D
ReplyDeleteIt actually rose a tenth.
ReplyDeleteHIMYM and Hostages are even with last week.
ReplyDelete2BG is up by two tenths, while Mom is down by two tenths (Looks like TBBT repeat hurt it).
Bones and Sleepy Hollow down a tenth and two tenths respectively.
The Blacklist rose a tenth while Castle rose three tenths.
HoD and BATB are even with last week.
There will most likely be some adjustments in the finals ratings.
http://www.spoilertv.com/2013/10/ratings-news-8th-october-2013.html
ReplyDeleteIt seems like Sleepy Hollow hasn't quite settled in yet.
ReplyDeleteWow, The Blacklist still in the 3.0 range in episode 4. So happy for it. Hopefully this three week break will help Sleepy Hollow because more people need to start watching it. Awesome for Castle adjusting up three tenths!
ReplyDeleteThose are the preliminary ratings, it adjusted down in the final ratings.

YEAAAAAAAAAAA CASTLE <3 Cute cute cute scenes. I love how this episode was more centered on crime again :))) Love love loveeeee Beckett and Castle interactions. Stana is the most beautiful creature to ever walk the planet!!
ReplyDeleteHaters away! Castle's amazing :))
