"She is not the alice you thought you knew...except she kind of is"

I really wish this show went further at subverting expectations(for example how American McGee reimagined alice, as this already borrows quite a bit from that), but from every promo so far it seems they are playing it "KIND OF" safe.

I hope I am wrong and the pilot blows me away, to be honest, but so far I am far more excited for the content OUAT S3 offers, than this :/

  2. Finally a good promo, I've been waiting for this one!

  3. I'm just hoping there'll be more adventure than love.. I'm kind of getting tired of all these shows with love as main topic!

  4. I don't think you'll be happy. Love is definitely the main theme of the show. love is the main theme of human existence. I think all you can hope for is a happy balance between the two.

  5. I wouldn't mind if the show had both. I'm just saying, if the show offers us only love love and love, then bye bye

  6. Very good promo with the right mix of action and romance. I am really looking forward to the show, I hope it delivers and I hope it does well in ratings. If it does, I think ABC will win thursdays on a weekly basis which would really be something considering the power of TBBT

  7. I agree, especially since OUAT laid down "Love is the most powerful magic of all" mantra at the core of it's mythology and themes.

I do think the Persian/Mid Eastern/Eastern Myth might be interesting in terms of existence...Cyprus denial proving one's self might go hand in hand with Transcendent Philosophy where "existence proceeds essence". As a Genie who's a kind of slave, may really not be a full person until he begins to love, in which he starts to believe in his essence and self interest.

Love done right offers some well-done drama, in my opinion, though I'm certainly not fond of soap-opera-esque love. Love that leads a person to make great sacrifices, brave great dangers, etc., makes for a good story. So long as there aren't tons of scenes with people sitting around talking about their feelings, I'll be satisfied.

  9. Yes, this is what I meant. Love for the sake of it and nothing else would be ridiculous. but a backstory to love, while keeping in the Once tradition would be a welcome addition.

  10. So far it looks really good! In the trailer there is a good balance of heroics and romance. The genie (Peter Gadiot) is adorable! Prince charming from OUAT has some serious competition here! Good luck to them on Thursday!
