HIT HBO SERIES TRUE BLOOD TO END RUN IN 2014
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 3, 2013 – The hit show TRUE BLOOD will end its run in 2014, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. Consisting of ten episodes, the previously announced seventh season will launch next summer.
“TRUE BLOOD has been nothing short of a defining show for HBO,” noted Lombardo. “Alan Ball took the books by Charlaine Harris, assembled a brilliant cast led by the magnificent Anna Paquin in the role of Sookie Stackhouse, and crafted a show that has taken its many devoted fans on an unforgettable journey. Alan passed the baton to Brian Buckner, who led our fantastic writers and crew in crafting a spectacular sixth season, and he will lead us through the seventh and final season of this amazing show. Together with its legions of fans, it will be hard to say goodbye to the residents of Bon Temps, but I look forward to what promises to be a fantastic final chapter of this incredible show.”
“From the moment I read Charlaine’s books, I thought there was potential for something really special,” says Alan Ball. “Then our amazing writers, cast and crew brought her world to life in a way that exceeded my wildest expectations. I’m deeply grateful to HBO for being true partners and collaborators, and, of course, to the viewers who chose to spend Sunday nights in Bon Temps with us.”
“I feel enormously proud to have been a part of the TRUE BLOOD family since the very beginning,” says Brian Buckner. “I guarantee that there’s not a more talented or harder-working cast and crew out there, and I’d like to extend a personal heartfelt thanks to them for their dedication and tenacity over the years, especially this past year, as I stepped into a larger role. Thank you also to HBO for their unwavering support and of course to Alan Ball, whose genius enabled all of us to share in this incredible journey. Finally, a huge thank you to the most passionate fans in television. As we take a final walk through Bon Temps together, we will do our very best to bring Sookie’s story to a close with heart, imagination and, of course, fun.”
Mixing romance, suspense, mystery and humor, TRUE BLOOD takes place in a world where vampires and humans co-exist, after vampires have come out of the coffin, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood that means they no longer need humans as a nutritional source. The series follows waitress and part-faerie Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), who can hear people’s thoughts, vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and vampire Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård). Alan Ball (creator of the Emmy®-winning HBO series “Six Feet Under”) created the show, which is based on the bestselling Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris.
The sixth season of TRUE BLOOD, which concluded last month, inspired critical raves, with the Boston Herald praising the show for “suspense, surprises and crackling dialogue,” while US Weekly noted that the show’s “cheeky humor and vivid imagination are still there to relish,” and the New York Post called it “bloody hilarious.” With an average gross audience of 10.6 million viewers per episode, the show remains one of HBO’s most popular series.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
ReplyDeleteDefinitely for the best and with the slight ratings slip with S6 they probably realise its time to finish it.
ReplyDeleteFinally! It built up to it's highpoint somewhere between season 3 & 4 but I'm glad that they saw to wind it down now.
ReplyDeleteFinish while they are still doing good ratings wise. I'm sad to see it go but good choice by the network.
ReplyDeletei am calling it right now that Sookie will become a vampire in the series finale.
ReplyDeleteStill no words on how many episodes they will do?
ReplyDeleteAnyway creativity-wise, this was long overdue. Show run out of gas a couple years ago (even though I kinda liked S6).
It's time to finish Shite of Thrones too (worse ratings than True Blood btw).
ReplyDeletePress release says 10 eps 'Consisting of ten episodes, the previously announced seventh season will launch next summer'
ReplyDeleteI know you are just trolling but GOT ratings are increasing pretty much every week its become the biggest show on HBO. So yeah.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, I totally missed that first paragraph. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOh and good news by the way, they clearly work better with less episodes to fill.
It's their signature show, they won't cancel it until the story is concluded.
ReplyDeleteNo, i'm not. You're the only troll here, celebrating the cancellation of a great show like TB.
ReplyDeleteImagination? PUHLEES! So predictable it's ridic.
ReplyDeleteIt's time to finish Shite of Thrones too (worse ratings than True Blood btw).
ReplyDeleteI love it and I am impressed everytime I see a network give a show a proper goodbye by announcing the last season beforehand. Be happy that you get a definite end fans! A lot of shows don't.
ReplyDeleteWhy would someone downvote this? There is so much brats on this site. Goddamit.
ReplyDeleteYeah hopefully the final season will be more focussed or focussed for TB!
ReplyDeleteMeh, I've just gotten used to it. I was once downvoted for just saying "I love this!"..... true story
ReplyDeleteAbout time...
ReplyDeletenot really surprised by this. at least this gives them the chance for a propper ending
ReplyDeleteOh me too, consistently. I understand when it's an opinion that might have negative view on something but once I got about 10 down votes on something just saying something looked great and I was excited for it. It's gotta make you laugh though, if they can't take the time to explain than obviously they're just negative Nancys so who cares. :)
ReplyDeleteIn the "24" section, try debating whether "Live Another Day" is Season 09 or Season 01. Most people here are under the strong impression that it is Season 09 and not a new series. So if you are looking for some serious downvotes (25+ easily), just go there and call it a new series, then watch as the counter rises faster than the sun in the morning, haha!
ReplyDeleteAfter last season finale all I have to say is "About time"
ReplyDeleteHaven´t seen season six so far, but to me it´s sad that this show ends after season 7 and other shows like Dexter run for eight seasons, though they should have ended four years ago (Let the hate begin :) )
ReplyDeleteSaw this coming I guess, but I still hoped they'd pull a Sopranos/Breaking Bad and do a 16 episode 2-part final season over 2014/2015. Sad that there's only 10 episodes to go :/
ReplyDeleteNot so sure. There was scene this season that leads me to believe it could end similar to the books...
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad, I was hoping for 8 seasons with season 7 and 8 being a two-year arc. Well, a guess whatever they cook up better be something really good, because I don't know if the vampire-zombies are gonna do it for me...
ReplyDelete...if i may interrupt for a moment. I just wanted to say that your conversation is even better than the news. :)
ReplyDeleteHehe, and for the downvotes part i highly recommend to go to the new poll for the series 'Lost Girl' and say that you hate Doccubus (Bo and Lauren (especially Lauren)) ..that should do it to. XD ( for serious downv. particularise why you don't like it^^)
they dont always follow the books you know. so it could still end differently
ReplyDeleteThis makes NO sense. While sure many might think it's time, the ratings are still HUGE. I've never seen a show have such little warning with ratings so high. Lost and Dexter gave what... over 2-4 season warning?
ReplyDeleteI think contacts played a part of it, they all came to an end of season 7.
ReplyDeleteFANS went mental at the end of the book. I can't see them doing that.. i think the scene this season was to show how far the characters and relationships had changed.
ReplyDeleteOf course. All I said is that there was scene that made me believe that (in some way) they might follow suit with one or two things.
ReplyDeleteThere is: the main actors' contracts are apparently up after season 7.
ReplyDeleteRatings are just a small part of the whole business, and Lost and Dexter's long set end dates are the exemption, not the rule.
ReplyDeleteMost shows end either by ratings not performing well or because contracts run out.
I'm good with this news as it will give the writers a focal point to hopefully craft a tight farewell season of good plots unlike the past few seasons where there was one main plotline and several unnecessary plotlines to service the top heavy ensemble cast
ReplyDeleteMy Prediction for Deaths/Living by Series Finale
ReplyDeleteDeaths (Jessica, Bill, Holly, Jason, Sam, Andy, Sarah)
Living (Eric, Pam, Tara, Willia, Sookie, Lafayette, Arlene, Hoyt, Lettie Mae, Alcide)
well, it’s no totally a surprise, but i expected to end in Season 8. Anyway, hope it will be a great season, and a great finale. I will miss True Blood.
ReplyDeleteSo Sad But Has Definitely Had A Great Run.
ReplyDeleteDamn, I am disappointed by this news. I am not completely surprised though as (I think) actors contracts run out at the end of season 7.
ReplyDelete"The person only breathed" HAHA, thanks for the laughter! Bahahahaha
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!^^ XD
ReplyDeletei'm good about this just as long as they wrap it up properly!! 7 seasons is a good run. But i will miss the show.
ReplyDeleteFinally it can die.
ReplyDeleteTrue blood will meet the true death after season 7. :D Sorry, couldn't resist. :D
