We're down to the Final Four, after last round gave us so big surprises. The mighty "family business" quote was knocked out by the only speech still left in the contest, Dean asking what to do over Sam's corpse. That positions the speech as a favorite to win the whole thing, given that it beat the #1 nominated and #1 voted for quote so far. (Of course it has to beat the big brother slogan today to do so, which should be tough.) Other than that, all other speeches also left the contest. The sole short quote that lost was "I lost my shoe," which garnered 47% of the vote. Today you decide which 2 quotes make it to the finals. Surprisingly it is a very easy decision for me today, now that my absolute favorites have been voted out. Hope it is easy for you too. Happy voting!

Today is super easy for me to vote, which is rare in these contests. While I like all four of the quotes, it is the pilot that sports the winners and I would love to see the pilot duke it out in the finals. It was by far the most quotable episode Supernatural ever had and a great tribute to Kripke's ability to tell a story and design his world. I do love the scene in AHBL2, but the quote is just that - a scene and therefore does not quite fit the spirit of the contest for me. I am glad it prevailed in the early rounds but it should never have beaten the "family business" quote. I am rooting for it to lose. As far as the Bobby quote goes, that one is harder to vote against. I have voted for it against a lot, but driver-shotgun is the first major quotable in SPN and often rival by beloved "no chick flick moments" as my top quote of the show.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we can get a quote from Death after episode 1. Seems like Carver "went to the bullpen" early. Maybe he's trying to appease the rumbling in the fan base.
ReplyDeleteI just have a hard time voting for scenes in quotes polls, so went with Jerk and as much as I like the shotgun one, Bobby wins it for me.

ReplyDeleteMe too. It seems like these scene quotes violate the spirit of the contest and I will be very disappointed if Dean's scene wins. I am good if either wins the second poll.
ReplyDeleteHe would be better off by fixing the brothers than going to the standard secret keeping if he really wants to appease the fans. I honestly think he doesn't care. I do think that bringing Death back, as long as it doesn't further obliterate canon, is the best idea he's had yet. Julian Richings can do no wrong.

If you do another one of these, maybe limit to two lines or have a poll for scenes instead of quotes.
ReplyDeleteNot only is AHBL2 one of my favorites, but that speech is my favorite emoangsty speech in teh history of the show. Still will not get my vote and I still hope it loses because it is an entire speech as a quote.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I was looking back on the quotes that didn't make it into the contest and those that fell out early. There are a lot of great quotes in SPN.
ReplyDeleteHa! I am done with Supernatural contests after this one, but it has been a blast getting to know everyone through them. Here's hoping we can all come together with a different show in the future to continue the conversations. Right now I suggest Teen Wolf and Sleepy Hollow.
