Supernatural - Ultimate Quote Contest - Round 6 - Poll

15 Sept 2013

At the beginning of hiatus we started with 128 quotes that made it into the Ultimate Quote Contest out of hundreds nominated. Now we are down to 8. Some great quotes have fallen out and I'm afraid it only gets tougher this round. In the last round, my beloved "clowns kill" and "fudgin" bit it, but some of the longer quotes were toppled too. Nothing was really close but the brothers speaking in tandom in Mystery Spot did grab 46% of the vote, while "fudgin" received 41%. Today the best of the best go against each other, including the hardest choice of the whole contest for me. Happy voting!

Quotes Too Long for Poll:

6-1. Dean: "You know when we were little, I mean you couldn't have been more than 5, you just started asking questions. How come we didn't have a mom? Why do we always have to move around? Where'd dad go? I mean he'd take off for days at a time. I remember I begged you, "Quit asking Sammy. Man you don't want to know." I just wanted you to be a kid just for a little while longer. I was trying to protect you, keep you safe. Dad didn't even have to tell me. It was just always my responsibility you know. It's like I had one job…I had one job, and I screwed it up. I blew it…and for that I'm sorry. I guess that's what I do. I let down the people I love. I let dad down and now I guess I'm just supposed to let you down too. How can I? How am I supposed to live with that? What am I supposed to do? Sammy…gah, what am I supposed to do? What am I supposed to do?" (AHBL2)

6-3. Sam: "Yeah because I've been following you around my entire life. I mean I've been looking up to you since I was 4 Dean. Studying you, trying to be just like my big brother. So yeah I know you. Better than anyone else in the entire world and this is exactly how you act when you're terrified. And I mean I can't blame you. It's just…" Dean: "What?" Sam: "It's just I wish you would drop the show and be my big brother again cuz…just cuz." (Fresh Blood)

6-4. Dean: "Sam, come on. Oh Sam. Sam, Sam hey. Hey come here. Come here. Let me have a look at you. Oh hey look. Believe me it's not even that bad. It's not even that bad alright. Sammy. Sam! Hey, listen to me. We're going to patch you up okay. You're going to be as good as new. Huh. I'm going to take care of you. I going to take care of you. I've got you. It's my job right. Watch out for my pain in the a** little brother. Sam. Sam. Sam. Sammy! No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Oh God. Sam!" (AHBL1)

  1. 1. Easy. Both are great scenes but the "family business" sums up the whole series while Dean's fabulously acted scene is more book worthy than quote worthy. Shorter wins for me.

    2. Hardest choice of the whole contest because both of them incorporate a beautiful, perfect brother moment. After much thought, "I lost my shoe." ekes slightly ahead but I really want the "Jerk" quote to come back before the series ends. We've missed it for far too long.

    3. Again we have a book versus a classic quote. Classics win every time although I really do like this Sam speech.

    4. The AHBL1 quote is the only one still left that I am actively rooting against and have no idea how it ever got this far in the contest. I get that it was an emotional scene but the words of the "quote" are nowhere near the other quotes still in this contest. Instead I choose Bobby's heartfelt quote stating that the Winchesters are heroes and family. That's what this show is all about and it was one of the best Bobby moments in the whole series. Even if it doesn't make it into the next round, it is by far the winner for me.

  2. All my quotes are losing :-(
    Oh well.
    1. Family Business - Can't believe it's losing. What a shame.
    2. Bitch, Jerk
    3. FB speech
    4. AHBL speech

  3. I stopped at Purdue to eat at the Triple XXX Grill ( As seen on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives).

    AND I HAD PIE!

  4. As much as I absolutely love I lost my shoe, and how much it pains me not to vote for it, there was no way I wasn't voting for bitch, jerk. Best brotherly quote from the whole series IMO

    1. Wendigo-that quote represents the show
    2.BDABR- it was hilarious.
    3.Pilot-Classic and that's a good rule :)
    4. Death's door- So true.
These polls were hard but fun.

  6. 1. Yep easy for me also..Family Business gets it.

    2. Jerk, even thought the look on Dean's face after the Shoe bit was so good. lol

    3. Since I am not a fan of scenes being in the quotes, going with the classic Driver Picks the Music.

    4. This for me is the best thing Bobby ever said and I loved him even more for it.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I loved that moment with Bobby too. I will be sad if it gets defeated by a scene/quote. For me it incorporates everything the Winchesters meant to Bobby and that makes it a winner to me.

  8. I can't believe that "the family business" is losing either but I knew this would be the hardest competition it has. If it wins this round, it is very likely to be the overall winner and I have to say that that would make me very happy. It sums up the show better than anything else.

  9. But of course. You can't go to a diner and NOT get pie. :-)

  10. I tossed and turned once I figured out last week that they would be going against each other. Here's hoping for a tie.

    ReplyDelete
  11. 6-1 The mission statement. Which I'm surprised to see is losing.
    6-2 "I lost my shoe"
6-3 shot gun shuts his cake hole. :-)
    6-4 Bobby's quote

    ReplyDelete
  12. Thats funny because Bobby is the only quote left that I'm actively rooting against

    ReplyDelete
  13. I am hoping that in the remaining hours that the mission statement will make a comeback.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Is it because it's the only one not given by one of the brothers or did you not like quote?

    ReplyDelete
  15. this is the best ever

    ReplyDelete
  16. 1) Difficult, I love Dean's speech over Sam's body but that's what it is, a beautiful speech not really a quote, so I go for the family business.

    2) I love the shoe quote but I love the 'bitch' one too; 'bItch' tips it as both boys get a word in . It's a true bi-bro quote. :)

    3) Here I'm even more torn because the Sam quote is one of the few times we get to hear how he feels about his early life with Dean and it deserves to win for that alone, but the other is a classic.
Going to go with Sammy here. It probably won't win anyway.

    4) I'm too much of a big softie when it comes to that scene, the bros great love for each other gets me every time, and while Bobby's quote is heart-felt too, the boys' thoughts and feelings win every time for me; so Ahbl1 gets it.

  17. I don't have much hope of it. But, I love the brothers so I'll be checking it out anyway. Though I must confess that during season 7 the show dropped from a show whose recording I watched before I went to sleep to having a stack of eps collected on the DVR that I watched when I got around to it. Though it's still ahead of Vampire Diaries. I may only watch the season premiere and then, only if I'm bored and theres nothing else to catch up on.

    Good strategy of voting :)

  19. OT: Dahne just want to keep you posted on Gilmore Girls, still loving it. This is such a fun show, but I did cry when Luke's uncle died and no one came to the funeral, then all the guys showed up. That was so sweet. Anyway thank you again. :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I didn't like the quote because I thought it was overly dramatic. But I also don't like the Fresh Blood quote for the same reason

    ReplyDelete
  21. That's exactly what I have voted for, too, almost for the same reasons. Only difference is I don't care so much about the shoe quote.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Those are all the ones I chose too, but I guess we're in the minority.
Since "saving people, hunting things, the family business" is getting knocked out, I don't really care which quote wins. To me, that quote sums up the show so it's the winner in my mind ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Aaronia, I don't get the love for the "shoe" quote either. "Fight the faeries" was a better funny quote, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Great minds think alike!.LOL :)
    X
I agree that the words of the shoe quote in themselves are nothing special; it's the way Sam delivers them that is the power behind it.
He manages to appear like a five-year old despite being a Gigantor and Dean's eye-rolling at him is just so funny. :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. 'Saving people, the family business' is without a doubt the up-front quote for the show and deserves to win, but the show seems to have shied away from that basic premise lately, so maybe a lot of voters don't see it like that any more. Who knows :(

    ReplyDelete
  26. You're probably right :-(

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ha! I think Dean's speech in AHBL1 is overly dramatic. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Glad you are keeping up with and enjoying it. There are a lot of tender, awesome moments in between the funny. That's one of my favorite things about it.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I have now given up hope that the family business will win too. I liked season 7, minus Baby's absence and Bobby's death. It is season 8 that has taken Supernatural off my must-see TV list. So far I have only missed watching 1 episode on the day it airs in 8 years. This year I am not watching ANY until hiatus. That's how much of a travesty and farce I believe Jeremy Carver made of this show.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I love this line too. Sadly it was beaten out in round 3.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I hated "Fight the faeries." For me there is little funny about it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The shoe quote was part of such a classic brother moment that made me think Dean had that reaction to Sam a lot when they were kids.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think it is more that the people voting like emoangsty quotes, and there is no scene more emoangsty than the one in AHBL2.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Don't count on me to much, as S8 did a number on me and I am having a hard time even watching my favorite season 4. He ruined Sam so badly for me and I hate the way I feel. Going to try and go into 9 more open minded. lol

    ReplyDelete
  35. I thought it was hilarious b/c Dean was being misinterpreted. I loved that entire episode.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Well we tend to have different viewpoints on many things so I will take everything with a grain of salt. My guess is that you will end up liking it better than me.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm gonna change what I mean, the quote is kind of redundant. I didn't think it added anything to Bobby that we didn't already know. And you can say the same for the AHBL1 quote but that was just Dean trying to comfort himself and Sam

    ReplyDelete
  38. I can't go as far as rock bottom. I'd use that phrase to describe Vampire Diaries before Supernatural.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Perhaps for you Supernatural's rock bottom will always be higher than Vampire Diaries' rock bottom. I have no way of judging because I only saw season 1 of VD. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yes. I can totally see a childhood full of pouting Sammy with Dean eye-rolling for all he's worth.
    So cute! :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I can do nothing but agree.

Season eight is unexplicably awful; it's not just one or two episodes but the entire frame-work of the season.
I don't think TPTB could have done worse if they had tried!
    X

There are episodes I didn't like in past seasons too, but I never had the total aversion for them that I have for S8.

I would even be willing to marathon the eps of crazy Castiel over s8, and for me that is really saying something!

    X

Season nine seems to be more promising, apart from the over-abundance of angels but we'll see.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It is impossible to argue with that statement. :-D

    ReplyDelete
  43. Not sure I would go so far as to watch Reading is Fundamental again over season 8 episodes, but it would be very, very close. I would rather not watch either. :-P I do hope that season 9 will get Supernatural back on track but my aversion to all things angel on SPN now makes it iffy. I am so tired of the angels.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The angels and Cas is what has me excited about s9 and the reason season 4 is my favorite with 5 close behind.

    ReplyDelete
  45. That's why I am going to take your opinion about season 9 with a grain of salt. :-P To me angels have been nothing but the ruin of Supernatural.

    ReplyDelete
  46. For me Carver ruined SPN by throwing out 7 years of canon.

    ReplyDelete
  47. No argument here. The angels (read writers' strike) screwed it all to hell, Sera wouldn't let Kripke end them like he wanted, and then Carver took napalm to the whole thing for kicks.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Maybe I did exaggerate a pinch there.
Condemning myself to marathon of RIF was a bit too much! Lol
    X

As for the angels, Yeah I get it, but I have to say I'm sorry that someone like yourself after loving the show for so long and dedicating so much time to it has to pull back because of the carelessness of these writers. :(

    X
Completely changing the subject. I've been watching Veronica Mars and it's such a great show. I'm just curious about why it was chopped. Was it due to ratings or something else?

    ReplyDelete
  49. There are days when I would rather marathon Bitten than RiF. Man do I hate that episode. I do have hope that the writers will all be fired and I can return to the Supernatural I adore. Maybe season 10.

So glad you tried Veronica Mars. It was one of the better shows people here at SpoilerTV recommended to me. Sadly, it did have woeful ratings which caused its cancellation. Veronica Mars along with Supernatural started before the big WB/UPN merge into the CW and it was Dawn Ostroff that made the controversial call to give it a third season over some shows that were considered more commercially successful. It was the last decision she made that I agreed with.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Thanks for the info on Veronica Mars.:)

It's so difficult predict people's tastes.
One would think a quirky show like that, with an interrligent and fascinating heroine like Veronica would have more of a following than run of the mill teen or reality show but it doesn't work that way i guess!
    x

I sincerely hope season nine is good enough to entice you back for S10.
