  5. What a marvelous season this is going to be!!! Love this preview-can't wait for October 8. Looks like the writers are setting up some arcs that could last for at least season 10-and beyond.

  6. Am i the only one thinking Dean asks Metatron to heal Sam?

    ReplyDelete
  7. He was praying to someone...

  8. That's a new scene with Death, right?

    Only times we've seen him
    -Chicago Restaurant
    -Chinatown Butcher
    -Bobby's House
-People's House that had the act of God.

Don't recall him ever turning in front of a fireplace.

  9. That's what i mean - and it would explain why he doesnt tell Sam what he did.

  13. pretty sure it's a new one with Death. The one I'm wondering is the Bobby's scene.I don't remember him saying that

  14. I have missed this show so much over the summer and I am so excited that it's coming back really soon! Season 9 looks awesome so far and I am so happy we got to see Death again. Hopefully this means he will come back this season because that would be amazing. Also, I am really curious about the direction the writers are taking with Castiel having to deal with being a human and how much it will affect him. That should be very interesting to watch. :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. What if Dean makes a deal with Death to heal Sam in exchange for him becoming a Reaper when he dies??

    ReplyDelete
  16. DEATH! I LOVE DEATH. I'm so happy he's back!!
    This season looks potentially awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Alaina Huffman is back as Abaddon, and Cas is half-naked?

    Looks AWESOME.

    :D

  18. there are a lot of interesting things going in the preview but right now I am happy that Castiel does not go immediately to Winchesters but has his own goal but still calls Dean and explains things to him. Finally! ;)

    Oh yay!.
Before I talk about the boys I am so excited for Bobby. So from my understanding Bobby won't be a ghost neither purely human, so whats the equation?. Because they said in an unexpected way..maybe Metraton or his minions ressurected him?.
Death being back would be awesome, I always knew he comes back and stated it alot lol but his duration of the show seems to appear to be short. I wonder if he cures Sam?, it seems that obvious.
Charlie and Kevin would be an excellent addition. But I have slight concern for Kevin, I don't think he will have a major role?, or maybe.. I heard alot of stuff. I hope Kevin still helps anyway.
Abbadon is the next bigger and better Ruby. I do think she is actually going to stick around for a while, strange to say because I did think she will be around 1-2eps but I'm reconsidering because she's powerful and tactical. She may gang up with Crowley's group being the team leader against him?. Or if she's on the angelic side she's with Metraton with a twist. She still would want Crowley (like everyone lol)
I would've never thought Sam would be better automatically, but hospitalisation?!. It would be really interesting to see where this lead to. I don't think the trial is completely swept under the carpet-ever. This storyline could continue right to the finale. I am still standing by that Sam has some returning powers. Until Sam obeys the commandment of trial lol I'm still thinking Death curing. I feel like Sam has a fantastic storyline :)
I don't think Crowley could cure, he may be weaker sort've half humanish. Because he is not the king of hell so far he is probably gonna be a clinger against his will with the boys, but later on and very quickly escapes, leaving him in the shadows (temporary). I do think he will be useful to the boys' knowledge.
Dean probably did call out to Death. That's the secret?. I don't think he'll call out to Metraton unless it was a trap, but he would haveto do something in return for Death. I don't see how conflict could be if he called out to Castiel, or he's killing a likeable character. I'm excited to see where Dean storyline is going because it looks like he got more responsibility and hard decisions maybe leading to a secret. There is so much potential for Dean as well as Sam :)
Cas finally human, I think he will do well playing this part. Looks like he has an angel friend on the same page as him (hopefully) I like her to be good and alive because it could be great help. Looks like alot of good stuff for Castiel.
On the last note, great to see the bunker not burnt down!. This better always be the boys' home, Dean became adjusted to it and Sam got all the books :)
Now I'm wrapping this up but I can't wait to see SPN!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Omg this season is going to rock our world once again!!! Dean why you have to feel guilty of everything!! Gosh!! You break my heart... and Sam at the hospital omg.... dios!!! Yaa quiero que sea 8 de octubreee!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Bobby? Death? Charlie? Sounds like the makings of a good season.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Black In Black Tricksteress 9510 September 2013 at 06:33

Nice theory. But if it was to be in death's path I think it could mean Dean doing a kind of trial, not necessarily like Sam but relating. It may even include Bobby. So many speculations! :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. but isnt Sam thr one who will be going through interesting changes through the season, so maybe Sam is turned into a reaper?

    ReplyDelete
  24. from what I've heard Cas doesnt meet up with the Winchesters for a few episodes, not sure if thats true but it would make sense in that it gives Jared and Jensen time off while Misha films his scenes?

    ReplyDelete
  25. First episode looks like its mostly all Dean trying to save Sam who is in hospital, Cas stuff going on on the side
Episode 2 is the Adandon, Crowley, bunker, soldiers/other hunter stuff where Sam is ok

    ReplyDelete
  26. Carver returns to his love of re-booting as he copies 2.1, In My Time of Dying, only it's Dean this time who hovers at his bed-side and does something to bring Sam back from death or the brink, making some kind of deal.
Unfortunately Carver's 're-boots' have all been pitiful, maybe he improves in this one but I wouldn't hold my breath as this 'deal' leads to the bros arguing again. Enough please!
Brothers arguing has got boing now!
    X

Castiel who gets to try out his humanity, Yawn, Yawn. If I remember rightly he ate hundreds of hamburgers, so seen that, been there.
    X

Dean kneeling at the feet of a stronger being getting his face smashed again is something I could have done without. I've always hated to see him punched up like that. That scene in the gag reel was horrible.

    X

The only original thing he has left is the MOl and I wouldn't be surprised if he managed to ruin that too, canon trashing his own canon.
    X

The only positive is that we get to see more of the wonderful Winchester brothers, and since one can fast-forward, one can jump the rest.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Cas wasn't eating hamburgers because he was human. He was eating them because of Famine. His story this season doesn't really impress me so far from what I've heard, but it's very different from that.

I'm as tired of brother angst as you but this doesn't really remind me of "In My Time of Dying." There are more characters involved and presumably no one is going to be selling their soul.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Cindy Shufelt Givens10 September 2013 at 10:11

Cas shirtless and pantless too. I must say it was worth the wait. Misha is delectable in boxers and boots.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yes, Alaina Huffman will be back!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Cindy Shufelt Givens10 September 2013 at 10:15

Dean is sitting at Sam's bedside in the hospital neither are dead but Dean was forced to do something supernatural to save Sam's life because the doctors couldn't help him and Castiel told Dean in season 8 the trials were changing Sam in ways he couldn't help.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Cindy Shufelt Givens10 September 2013 at 10:18

I think Death did come back because I don't recall him ever being in a rustic room with a fireplace before.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Cindy Shufelt Givens10 September 2013 at 10:19

I posted the same comment before I scrolled down and saw yours. I agree it looks new.

    ReplyDelete
  33. That's most of what I noticed too. Yum.

(well, that, and I'm tired of Dean being beat up)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Does Dean really need MORE guilt??? Loved Cas washing clothes..so funny. Season 9 is looking very good, but for me after last season it has to be better, and waiting another month..ugh. DEATH..yea!! One of my favorite characters with the perfect actor.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah, but I don't know if Dean would take such a decision on part of his brother ...

    ReplyDelete
  36. But Jensen is so good with it..one of the things I like about SPN is fights matter, unlike other shows where the characters don't end up with a scratch. lol SPN and Joss Whedon shows always show the results and have awesome fights.

worgje;aodfkjalsdkfj;alrfj;ladfkjs;alsdfkj OH MY GOD I'M SO EXCITED

    ReplyDelete
  38. Gee I can always count on you to be negative, I think this season will be super good. At least this peek makes me excited again, but after last year it would not take much. ;) I will wait until I see the eps to start knocking the show and hopefully they will be good and no knocking.

Since I am not a Charlie fan her being around again does not excite me, but human Castiel does..Huge fan of Misha with all his characters so human should be fun(loved Hippie Cas). Bobby and hopefully Death back will be awesome. Not sure Dean needs more guilt, but hey what would he be without it. lol

    ReplyDelete
  39. Apparently what is a SPN season without Dean being guilty over something even if it is his own invented guilt at times . My concern is that what ever happens it will be more about what it does to Dean than Sam and the weight on Dean's mind .

But the sneak peak does look promising :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Considering that I thought last season was about Dean learning he shouldn't blame himself for anything, hearing this season will be all about more guilt makes me uneasy and sad.

I'm glad Abaddon is back and I am going to give Cas' story a chance, and I hope they will take Death back to what he was early on. I wish we could see Tessa again.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Guilt is part of Dean's make up and in this case as long as all he feels guilty for is lying to/keeping secrets from Sam then thats understandable since he should feel guilty for that. But I dont think he should feel guilty for anything else just yet anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think Dean would do anything to ensure his brother stays alive

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think the reason he keeps it a secret from Sam is because he will be doing something that he knows Sam wouldnt like/want. From what little spoilers we know it seems like whatever Dean does it saves Sam but not without major consequences for Sam considering he'll be going through some interesting changes this season. I would imagine Sam wouldnt be pleased to learn he's becoming something other than human or developing supernatural abilities or something like that considerng how he's just been trying to shed an entire life time of feeling impure and like a freak via the trials.
Its a tricky predicament to be in for both brothers. My guess is their conflict will be short lived.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Cas = comedy relief this season
Joke after joke of him trying to do the simplest human tasks and understand the human condition. I'm a little confused as to why all the other angels we've seen on the show have not seemed so naive/dense?

    ReplyDelete
  45. The unknown amount of time before Cas is reunited with Dean and Sam is one of the only things that mars this amazing sneak peek for me! I'm so happy with almost everything, but as a huge Team Free Will fan, I'm more than ready to have my favorite trio together again. Though I too am really happy that we see that Cas will at least get to call Dean and explain things to him.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yeah, I'd love to see Team Free Will together again without lies etc. But before this sneak peek I was afraid that they'd use Cas only as a comedy relief and occasionally additional angst (poor, helpless Cas thet the boys need to take care of etc.). Most of the fanfiction went that way and I didn't like at all A bit of both won't hurt but I am glad that they're actually giving him his own quest :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. I hope he's not. But I have a feeling that it could be like that - Metatron will help if Dean won't interfere with his plans. And then we will get the drama of Dean actually lying to Sam and Cas instead of being the one who is always wronged...

    ReplyDelete
  48. It's the interactions with humans that make an angel stupid, so it would seem :P

    ReplyDelete
  49. These scenes didn't really come across as comic relief to me.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Me too. I was pleasantly surprised.

    ReplyDelete
  51. It will always be about how hard it is on Dean and only Dean. Sam's emotions got thrown in the trash a long time ago. We will see Dean felling guilty, Dean lying to Sam. Then if it turns out that the after effects are bad for Sam we will hear about how bad DEAN feels about it and how hard it is for Dean to see his brother change and how Sam is being a B*tch to not pat Dean on his head and understand that it is all so hard for Dean. That has been the story ever since season 2, and last season was particularly egregious about not showing what Sam was thinking and only how things hurt Dean. I really don't expect that to change.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I may not be a Castiel fan, but I will admit that I would like him 100% better if he is not comic relief, so I hope that he isn't.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I honestly wish I could put my hand on my heart and say that what you say isnt true but the sad truth is I can't .I realized back in season 2 and when the boys lost John and they only really dealt with how it affected Dean that Sam's feelings did not really matter and that was before I came online . And it carried on from there so I pretty much know it will be about how bad it is for Dean and the guilt of whatever he does weighing on his mind.

    ReplyDelete
  54. The Bobby scene is definitely new. He says something like "I'm dead, are you?" (I watched the vid last night so don't remember the exact words).

    ReplyDelete
  55. And I doubt Sam will have an out of body experience.

    ReplyDelete
  56. :) But in the next scene they always look perfect. Touched by an angel, anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  57. If they have been "touched" then healed, otherwise they have shown scars for several eps, depending on time frame.

    ReplyDelete
  58. "Dean is going to make some crucial decisions that is going to drive the mythology for the rest of the year." ---- maybe Dean is finally getting his own myth arc.

    ReplyDelete
  59. OK here we go again season 9 wop pee lets repeat the same thing we did over and over again in other seasons Dean doing something to keep Sam alive and then lie to him over and over again untell us fans really get sick of it and stop wanting to see this show. I am sorry but this is happening again right? they really are doing this again. WOW just plane WOW. I really wanted to get happy about season 9 but if they pull this crap on us again I can't and that suck. But hey we get human Cass that should be ok right?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Black In Black Tricksteress 9511 September 2013 at 02:46

Lest there is a positive :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. OMG is that Death at 4:06 ?! Yes it is Death is back guys i've been waiting for this for so long !!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Outstanding news! "Knights of Hell" may have similar abilities as angels to repair their vessels/meatsuits. Abaddon returning in her Alaina H 'suit' (with new clothes) after being French-Fried by being doused with Holy Oil and set on fire could be one reason why the Dean calls Kevin at the MoL Bunker and asks him for everything they have on KOHs.

    ReplyDelete
  63. There is a very crude premiere promo floating with Ezekiel "putting Dean" into Sam's mind just like Cas did to put Sam and him into Fred's mind in 8.08 Hunteri Heroici. So no Sam OOB.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Yes, Death is the premiere - there was a low quality premiere +9.02 promo released and Death says (I think) "Hello, Sam, I've been waiting for you". So Death is there to reap Sam.

    ReplyDelete
  65. It's because I love the brothers thait I don't want to see tthe show turn into a childish repetitive melodrama, completely eliminating the saving, people, killing evil part.
    X

I want to see strong capable brothers who kick butt, not moping all over the place

    X
.Once upon a time Dean was a force to be reckoned with, not now.
The same with Sam, he was an expert hunter who had empathy with monsters too, now I don't know what Carver has turned him into.
    X

They used to laugh occasionally, prank one another and even managed to find a little happiness in their lives. Now it's all depressing.
    X

But as I said I love the brothers and I'll still watch for them.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Well at least I'm consistent.:)
    X

I'm just so annoyed that Carver took away my enjoyment of a half-season and more of episodes in S8.

If he improves in S9, I'll revise my opinion but until then, I'm certainly not going to gush all over these writers.

They blow their own trumper enough on Twitter!
    X
I know you love Castiel and I'm sure you'll enjoy him in S9:)
    X
I have nothing against Dean feeling guilty now and then, but he's at his best when he's kicking ass, burning Wendigos and decapitating vampires and best of all when protecting Sammy. :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. His actual being human this time, has come about through a spell He didn't fall as Anna did and be re-born, so,in the end it's the same thing.

With Famine, it might have been Castiel's vessel that was craving for the hamburgers but Castiel seemed to feel the enjoyment too.

Then he was married to a woman in season seven, I don't know if he had sex, pooped or whatever when with her but for me this whole 'Castiel is learning to be human thing' is just old and tired.
    X

Now if he had been a tough warrior angel during all the past seasons and then became human, it would have had sense to see the transformation, but he's been cringingly naive since season five.
    X

I make no bones about thinking that the Castiel character has run his course. Having tto find a use for him holds back any kind of alternate slory-line, but if I was a fan of his i would feel rather insulted at what TPTB have cooked up for him.

Even in his case, the writers have no creativity, they have simply gone with the easiest way, making him human; something that everyone knew was inevitably going to happen, as they couldn't think up any other way to shackle Castiel's angel powers, which would have made the Winchesters useless once again.
    X
This first episode might turn out differentlt to IMTOD, but the set-up certain reminds me of that ep.
One brother so near death and the other looking for a way out.
The bros have no friends, so the only alternative I can see is that Dean finds or does something to save Sam. I can't see anyone alse caring about saving him. However all will be reveaed. :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Everything looks really awesome, I feel like there are many, many things I'm gonna love this season.
But unfortunately, I'm really worried about Dean's secret. It NEVER ends well, when boys hide things from each other, so that takes away SO much of my excitement for season 9.

    ReplyDelete
  69. How do some people know that is Ezekiel? I can barely see people on the promo I'm looking at!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Isn't that always the case? Haha!

It's almost always more about how it affects Dean than how it affects Sam - even when it's happening TO Sam.

Maybe the writers learned how to give POVs for BOTH their leads instead of just one. That would be nice. I know it's a long shot, but a girl can hope!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Yeah, I wish that wouldn't be the way it is likely to play out, but you're probably right.

And the sad part is I want to know what Dean thinks about whatever secret he has or how he feels about it BUT I also want to know how Sam feels about whatever is happening to him.

Maybe they'll surprise and do it differently this year. Doubtful, but we can dream, right?

    ReplyDelete
  72. The boys could definitely have some happier, more playful moments. Did they smile at all last year? Not once that I can recall.

Sam didn't even crack a smile during that horrible LARPing episode. Dean was having fun during that one. I also don't recall Sam smiling with the "love of his life" (gag me), Amelia. He wasn't even happy w/her. He looked miserable the entire time.

I know they don't have much to laugh about, which probably explains why Sam doesn't appear to be fighting for his life in the premiere, but it would be nice to see them have some happier moments.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I can take or leave Cas, but I do not hate him. I like the character, and Misha seems to be a hoot.

That said, I have many reservations about Misha's status as a regular and about this "human" story for Castiel. As you said, Cas has been presented as very naive since S5. None of the other angels behave the way the does, so I hope that does not continue this year. I also hope they can make me interested in his arc since it seems to be completely separate from the Winchesters.

As a OG Supernatural fan, I watch for the Winchesters and no one else. Not Bobby. Not Ellen. Not Crowley. Not Castiel. They are supporting characters to the Winchesters in my mind. For the past few seasons, I've found myself bored w/Cas's separate arcs. Often, during his scenes, I've found myself just wanting to go back to Sam and Dean, and whatever they're doing. I hope that can change this year.

I'm willing to give this next season a chance. I am very cautiously optimistic. I just have to see how it all plays out. I can say that these previews and the new promo have made me more interested than I've been, which was not hard to achieve since I had ZERO interest in S9. Haha!

    ReplyDelete
  74. so true it will never end good they do this every season and its like WHY?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Yeah. Some fans already have their pitchforks sharpened for when Sam finds out... they are already assuming that once again Sam will be his "usual" (rollseyes) ungrateful-brat self because to paraphrase lala s "the secret will be about more about how Dean feels about the stresses of keeping it" than how Sam will be effected. Of course that's an over-exaggeration but I already reading some fans grumbling and angry about another humungous guilt trip for Dean and "Dean will again be all about Sam".
The CW aired an official version of the regular promo last night during Capture and again during Arrow and SPN and it looks very good (even though I'm no CasFan). I'm feeling a lot better about S9 so far than I did about S8 at this time last year (indeed, until LATRG re Sam's sl; I did like a lot of Dean's Purg sl).

    ReplyDelete
  76. The CW aired the promo I referred to yesterday and today...that's what I meant though some posters saw a brief flash of Ezekiel near the end of this sneak peek fighting in the hospital parking garage.

    ReplyDelete
  77. CAN'T WAIT!!! Watch this be THE best season yet. And ugh! Abbadon will be back?? i wanted that demon bitch goneeeee! Although i am excited to see that scene with Dean. Awww, my poor Castiel, living like a human..Yes Cas mortality sucks! But the food can be delicious. Does anyone else want him to sit down with Dean and eat pie?? LOL I would love that! I'm wondering how long Sam will be in the hospital? Speaking of hospitals, did my eyes deceive me or did i actually see Death return??? That would be awesome. I didn't even think about that til just now. He Is an Angel, so i'm glad he's back, same for Bobby. Man they really need to bring back Ellen and Jo this season. Jo's return was not good enough. I want her to be back as a fallen Angel. Abbadon, gimme a break! i'm sorry, i just can't shake that off, you know what demon i would LOVE for them to bring back, MEG!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  78. I don't hate Castiel, I just think he's run his course, and I really can't see any sort of decent story-line for him in the future either.
    X

What you say is true, other angels seem to understand things much better than Castiel. I don't know why they insist with the ingenuous and simple-minded approach to his character. It's not particularly attractive nor funny.

Then he's so easily manipulated too.

You'd think he would have learned some cunning by now.
As for his arc being separated from the Winchesters', that's a positive for me! :)

    X

I only watch for the bros too.The best episodes of the entire series have been those where they were hunting on their own or with help from Bobby.
    X

Season 8 has been a flop for me, let's hope 9 picks up a little.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Yeah, I don't think I've seen such a dismal love affair as Samelia. I never saw her as being broken and needing to hang onto Sam. She seemed spunky enough to me, but poor Sam looked utterly miserable.
    X

The best smile of all was when Sam hugged his brother in Rufus' cabin in Ep 1 but it all went downhill from there!

    ReplyDelete
  80. He is easily manipulated. He fell for Metatron in like 2 seconds. Haha!

I don't know if Cas has outlived his purpose b/c I can see him as another useful support character, but the way they've been using him has been bad, IMO. I just don't know about him. I hope he's written better this season!

    ReplyDelete
  81. I was actually amazed at how horrible the Sam/Amelia pairing was. Then, I read that she auditioned over the phone so I was less shocked. What a bad story and awful pairing! They had the opposite of chemistry. It was crazy. I'm so happy she's gone!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Okay. Thanks very much!

    ReplyDelete
  83. And the way I see it, everything is ALWAYS about Sam. Your'e right about one thing; I'm tired of Dean always feeling guilty about everything, when all he has ever done was to save Sam. As for Sam's feelings, I wish we saw them too. But even with Sam's heartfelt speech at the season finale, it seemed like he was blaming Dean for how bad he felt about letting him down so many times when it was Sam's own actions that caused Dean to have so many trust issues with him. There's only been a couple of times where we saw Sam ever feeling guilty about anything he had done to Dean; in season 5, and then in the season 8 finale. Sam didn't feel guilty when he completely turned his back on Dean while he was at college. He didn't feel guilty when he was bitching about Dean to Meg. And he certainly showed no guilt at all for not even trying to figure out if Dean was alive or dead when he was in Purgatory.
Sam already gets almost ALL the main storylines ( Cas gets the rest) and has all the specialness bestowed upon him as far as mythology. So now you even want to take Dean's only arc, his human emotional conflicts, away from
him and give them to Sam.
I'll tell you what, how about giving them BOTH important storylines and POV. Stop making 85 to 90% of SPN all about Sam.

  84. These promos look pretty good to me, and it looks like Dean will finally have an important season long story arc. I don't think that Sam will be hateful to Dean, I think he will be upset because he doesn't want Dean to sacrifice himself for him again.

  85. And before someone starts, I do NOT hate Sam. I know whenever anybody defends Dean and laments his always being sidelined in favor of Sam, they get this tired and wrong accusation thrown at them. It's not true. It's just that EVERYTHING on SPN is always about Sam while all Dean does is exist for him. I love Sam too. I just want equality as far as good, important story lines. Being the one who supports and sacrifices for the one who IS deemed important is NOT a story arc. It's a personality trait. And I would LOVE to see Sam show emotion over Dean. The only time I recall him feeling any real heartbreak for Dean was at the end of season 3 when Dean was ripped to shreds by Hellhounds and killed. If indeed Sam loves Dean as much as Dean has always been shown to love Sam, let's see it.

  86. I'm certain both brothers will have strong storylines this season and IA that in all likelihood Sam will not remain angry at Dean for long at "what cures him/puts a 'Band-Aid'" on him for long, unless Carver/Singer choose to throw out over 8 years of Sam never being angry with Dean for long. But who knows; in S8 they had no problem last year with throwing out the running theme of the brothers breaking their promises to "not look for each other/not do anything extraordinary to "bring each other back".
For the record, I'm nearly in total disagreement with your reply to Percysowner earlier but I know I'm not going to change your perception any more than you're going to change mine so I'm bowing out with only reaction: Seriously - you're "still blaming Sam" for going to college and "leaving 22 year old Dean"? That's as ridiculous as S8 Dean "blaming Sam" for "coming back without a soul".

  87. If the reason for Cas becoming human and the angels falling has anything to do with getting back to the Michael and Lucifer story, then I can get behind it. I never felt that story was finished. I can see the angels being angry at Cas, but I can also see them blaming his screwups on his connections and fondness for humanity i.e. Sam and Dean. I know Cas killed most of Raphael's followers but I can see these other angels getting angry and wanting revenge on Earth and humanity. So maybe they would want to free Michael and Lucifer and get the Apocalypse back on.

  88. I like Cas. I just think he is far more interesting when his storyline is directly intertwined with The Winchesters, especially Dean. It's ironic: Cas was this extremely powerful supernatural being, yet he has screwed up on a monumental scale a couple of times, more so than either Sam or Dean, the humans. I really don't know how he is gonna be able to redeem himself.
I was dead set against a Dean/Cas romance, mainly because to me, Dean has always been written as completely straight. However, in the last few months I have really warmed up to the idea. I could see where a true spiritual connection might be able to override someone's given sexual orientation. Cas was, until now, a totally spiritual being only using a human as a vessel. Sexual orientation probably means nothing to him. And along with the enormous chemistry I see, honestly, I can't think of another being who knows Dean so completely, the good and the bad, and accepts him for who he is. Even for Lisa Dean had to become someone he wasn't, a construction worker and regular suburbanite. But I seriously doubt it will happen though.

  89. I've got nothing against either of the boys finding love, but it has to be someone who knows all about them, the life they've lived, the things they've experienced, the bad things they've done as well as the good, and accepts them for the hunters/MOL that they are. By this definition of course, even Jessica didn't fit. Lisa knew who Dean was and all about him (I presume) but he still had to become someone he wasn't in order to be with her, which was understandable, since she wasn't involved in the hunter world and had a child who rightfully was her first priority. Amelia definitely was NOT the one for Sam. He needs to find a smart lady hunter who, like him, is more refined than the average hunter and has an intellect to match his, a good fit to work along side him in the M&WOL. Dean needs an independent, strong baddass female hunter who shares his taste in music and pop culture, is a hotshot at pool, and is a match for his quick wit. Either that or Cas if the writers are ever brave enough to go there.

  90. I DIDN'T blame Sam for going to college. I said that Sam turned his back on Dean while at college. You clearly misunderstood. nobody faults Sam for going to college.
Yes your'e right about the fact that you're not going to change my perception. As far as I can see, Sam has ALWAYS gotten the lion's share of focus and importance. That in no way means I dislike Sam. I actually do like him. I just am tired of Dean being relegated to the support role. It doesn't bother me that you disagree, as long as you disagree without insulting me, or accusing me of hating Sam.

  91. I agree that if the boys ever found their 'true love' it would have to be someone they could be completely open with about the lives they have led and that is why I think they never will, settle down, because the bonds formed by their shared experiences and past life together as brothers are too personal and intimate, making them incapable of giving any more than a small part of themselves to another person.
    X

You say that Dean should find a girl like himself, a bad-ass hunter , but I don't see it that way.

Dean could have met various women hunters 'off-screen' that we don't know about, but all the girls we have seen that he has felt something for, have been 'Civilians'.

The only hunting girl he could have settled for was Jo, who knew all about him and the life, but he basically ignored her.

On the contrary, I think Dean needs an understanding loving woman in his life, one who is willing to spend time working on their relationship.
I thought LIsa was perfect for him character-wise, and as he is a man who loves children, having Ben was a wonderful addition to his relationship.

    X

As for Castiel, sorry but there is no way I would wish for Dean to pass the rest of his life with such an individual, and I have never seen any particular chemistry between them..

He isn't a human ,even although he has tempoarily lost his grace, and IMO he has neither the understandiing, intelligence, sensibility or loyalty to be a partner for a complex individual like Dean Winchester; apart from the fact that Dean has always professed his preference for women..So just no!
    X

As for Sam, despite the fact that he is the one whom we are continually told seeks normal, I see him as the brother who would ultimately find it much more difficult than Dean to settle down.

I too, see Sam more as the scholarly type who is at his happiest immersed in knowledge, and unlike his brother has no particular empathy with kids.
I could see him settling down with a smart bad-ass huntress more than I could see Dean doing so.
    They say opposites attract, so...:)

  92. I admired Castiel when he was a bad-ass warrior angel, but that soon petered out and he gradually was reduced to being the comic relief, because honestly ,how could the human Winchesters who were the ones that were supposed to be the heroes ,compete with an all-powerful angel.

How often have Castiel's powers been curbed with a ruse to make him less powerful; worst of all being when he was' crazy' in season seven.

I loved Sera's idea of making him the big bad in S6. It gave the angel a juicy role and a reason to still be in the show, and it could have been cool for him to have continued on in S7 as the leader of the Leviathans, keeping him as the Winchesters' antagonist instead of Dick Roman.
In S8 he had no scope whatsoever, but of course the entire season eight was pointless except for the Mol idea.
    X

Now in S9 we're back to the comedy relief again; learning to poop and

have sex, how to wash clothes. Sigh!

I really can't imagine what they will have him do now .

The only thing I can think of is that he somehow convinces the fallen angels to trust him again , gets back his powers, and leads an army of angels to the conquest of heaven, ousting Metatron.

It would certainly be more heroic than 'pooping'!

The Michael / Lucifer theme could still be in the works, Carver seem to love re-booting so who knows!

  93. As much as I agree with most of what you are saying, Sam did show emotion when Dean was killed in Mystery Spot and spent the next few months trying to find "trickster" to get him back.
I have liked Sam and even understood why he did some of the things he did, like going with Ruby to save people without killing them. But I have also understood why Dean would not trust him, he did pick a Demon over his brother and beat the holy hell out of him doing it. ;) Until S8 I understood why Sam and Dean did the things they did. Season 8 trashed canon and threw Sam under the bus.

  94. Oh PLEASE no Dean Cas romance, they are awesome friends and don't need to be more, but with Carver in charge nothing would surprise me, but THAT would be when I leave., Sam not looking almost got me there.

    ReplyDelete
  95. All shows are going there so it does not take bravery, just follow the trend, which I am not for, leave Dean & Cas friends.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Yep, just say one thing about Sam that is not glowing and you HATE Sam. Been there and been called a hater. Join the club. lol Face it Carver is the one that HATES the Sam character or he would not have forgotten all canon from 7 years.

  97. Well the same can be said the other way as well. It isnt like you can genuinely question Dean's actions without being told how wrong you are and that he had his reasons. I personally dont like unfairness and I think some of the accusations aimed at Sam are just that unfair. I dont like the fact that Stanford as been twisted into something it never was and has become about Sam's father and brother and their feelings and Sam's rights get lost .

As for Jeremy I wouldnt argue with you but for me it isnt Sam not looking it was the way the sl was told and how poor the approach to Amelia was . I have thought for along time Sam gets good sl's but the poorest storytelling which allows for open interpretation where has Dean's and even Castiel's actions are made more clear and easier to understand . But having said that the fandom is not blind, stupid or ignorant so while Sam isnt given to the fandom on a silver plate people have been watching , listening and seeing to what Sam has gone through .It isnt a leap sometimes to put two and two together with him.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Yes, you're right about Mystery Spot.
But my point was I was responding to this idea that SPN focuses on Dean feeling bad. It doesn't. It focuses on how special Sam is. Heck, now he's probably even going to be possessed by an angel. What's next, Sam becomes God? Sam ALWAYS gets the important stories and the most focus The Amelia story sucked, but it was shoved front and center. The Purgatory story was mostly about Cas's penence and Dean feeling guilty, had absolutely no lasting impact on Dean whatsoever, and was dropped after a couple of episodes. Then after that, it was business as usual; the main story arc going to Sam and Dean just there to support him. People will say that Dean is the heart. I wish I knew how that was some great storyline. Jared gets to stretch his acting muscles all the time because he gets challenging stories, like being souless. Jensen basically can play the self sacrificing, caretaker in his sleep by now. Nobody wants to sideline Jared. Just even things up, that's all. Write a main story arc for Jensen for once that shows different shades of Dean, and allows him to stretch his acting muscles as well. There are supposed to be TWO leads.

  99. I thought that Dean was wrong to kill Amy behind Sam's back and then not tell him. I that the text was a douchbag move. I certainly don't give Dean a free pass when I think he is wrong or has behaved badly.
But Sam, to me, has has hurt Dean far more than vice versa. I don't think I'm being unfair, I am only going by what has been presented on screen for 8 years. You and others here however, seem all ready to unfairly judge Dean as if he doesn't have very good reasons to have been hurt by Sam's actions. As far as Stanford, sorry, but I disagree. There is nothing wrong with going to college and wanting something better for yourself. But Sam DID turn his back on Dean while doing it. This is what I saw. How does that take any rights away from Sam? Sam has always pretty much done whatever he wanted, regardless of whether or not John or Dean approved.
.Sam has shown love for Dean at various times, but more often, to me, he has tolerated Dean as a necessary burden. Whereas Dean has made Sam his whole life, sacrificing any hope for happiness he might have. You can say he had brief happiness with Lisa, but Lisa was a promise he made to Sam, and whatever small bit of happiness he had there was tainted by his heartbreak over Sam, whom he NEVER stopped trying to find a way to save.
Handing Dean to fandom on a silver plate? How? When so many characters on SPN have told Dean over and over how unimportant he is, how very important Sam is, and the SPN writers confirm that by giving Sam all the important stories?
Hopefully, in season 9, Dean will start to think a little about himself for a change and stop making Sam his entire reason for existing, as Sam has never had a problem doing in regards to Dean.

  100. From what I've saw, I'd say Sam is Carver's favorite. He not only gave him every major plotline last year, he talks more about Sam and his storyline than any of the other characters. Last year, even when questioned specifically about Dean and his story direction, he not only refused to even mention his name but he turned around and talked about Sam more.
But since he's actually mentioning Dean this year, I have hope that things will finally even out.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Relax, I sincerely doubt it will ever happen.

    ReplyDelete
  102. How did Sam turn his back on Dean during college?
In the Pilot, we learn that they hadn't spoken in TWO years - yes, I know that was a mistake but it's canon - so that means Sam and Dean were in touch during Sam's Freshman and Sophomore years. They, clearly, had an argument or some type of falling out and stopped speaking to each other. We can't say who was directly at fault for that.

  103. I have ZERO interest in a Dean/Cas romance. Dean is a heterosexual male and nothing has ever been shown to make me think otherwise.
That said, I agree that Cas works better - at least he has for me - when his story is related to the Winchesters. I

  104. I agree, Roxi! I LOVE Cas. He's pretty much my favorite character ever. And I enjoy his storyline okay when it puts him alone more, but I like it best when it directly intertwines with Dean (esp) and Sam too! All three of them are just awesome to me and I'm happiest when they're all together...a large part of why Season 5 remains my most favorite season.

I love in the S8 DVD feature, Angel Warrior: The Story of Castiel (favorite special feature ever!), when the writers and others really seemed to get a lot of why myself and others love Cas so much, especially given his (rather large) past mistakes. As EP Bob Singer says, the fact that he's an angel and he feels guilt makes him a character that they can do a lot with. And like Andrew Dabb says, "Castiel is the boys' best ally and he's kinda the one friend that isn't each other that they've been able to rely on for years. That doesn't mean he's perfect, because he's definitely not that and that goes the other way too, but he's always been there for them." The fact that his motives are usually pure, his heart's just about always in the right place, and the massive guilt and pain he feels because of his mistakes all go a long way to redeeming him in my eyes no matter what, the same way that I can pretty much always forgive Dean and Sam for their mistakes too.

I love that you've went from being dead set against a Dean/Cas romance to warming up to the idea. I agree with all that you said about that, especially about how Cas knows Dean, good and bad, more completely than any other person or being alive, except for Sam (but Sam is out as a potential romantic interest for Dean since they're brothers). And likewise, I don't think that there is anybody else that has touched Castiel and impacted him as much as Dean. Dean's seen Cas at his best and at his worst too and still needs him and wants him in his life.

Personally, I've been on board with the idea of a Dean/Cas romance since I first began watching Supernatural. For all the reasons you listed and many more. For me a romance between the two characters just makes perfect sense and I truly, honestly believe that if Castiel had been a female vessel instead of a male vessel, we would already have had a Dean/Cas romance on screen seasons ago. Thus in my mind, the only thing holding this relationship back is the fact that they are two males....which for me personally just isn't a good enough reason not to go there. I just see love and gender isn't important to me, especially when it is fictional characters. Love is love and if you an tell a great love story, then gender and sexuality of fictional characters just doesn't matter that much to me. Also helps that I see sexuality as something that is fluid. People grow and change, their personalities change, and sometimes even their sexuality can change. It has for me personally and I know it has for others as well in real life.

Plus many people really have seen hints of bisexuality in Dean's character for years now...a viewpoint that was happily given some credence due to comments made by Ben Edlund and Phil Sgriccia that really hint towards the potential for Dean to be a bisexual character. Like you, I don't think that they'll ever actually have Dean/Cas romance on the show but I think that it could and would be amazing if they were brave enough to go that route.

    ReplyDelete
  105. All shows are going there? Really? Cool. Could you maybe recommend some of them to me so I can watch them? I don't know of any show, especially a drama or sci-fi that has a compelling, will they/won't they love story between two characters of the same gender.

I know of Spartacus and I loved the relationship between Agron and Nasir on there, but there wasn't really a lot of build up for that relationship and I don't think the characters were explored as fully as they could have been, but still it was a compelling homosexual relationship on a really great show.

I know of shows like Glee and comedy shows that feature homosexual and bisexual relationships in them, but to be honest, those kinds of shows don't really appeal to me that much. And even with those types of shows, many of which show those types of relationships/characters are more comedic relief than dramatic love, there really still isn't a great representation for LGBT in the media, so I, for one, would be very glad to actually see this trend.

I would LOVE to know of a good science fiction/fantasy genre type show that features main characters as LGBT and gives us the same kind of LGBT love story that has made relationships like Spike and Buffy (or Angel and Buffy), or Elena/Damon (Elena/Stefan), so beloved by fans.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Oh, thank you! I just looked it up online. It looks like an interesting show... cop shows/police dramas like that really aren't too much of anything I love though. I'm just much more into fantasy/sci-fi/horror type genre shows.

I assume from what little I saw of Rookie Blue that the relationship you were speaking of is the Gail and Holly thing, with Gail being an assumed straight character that looks to become bisexual next season? That's what I gathered from the article at After Ellen anyway. That is amazing and wonderful! And I might give the show a try one day.

Thank you for that one recommendation though!
