I honestly thought that when he and Gloria were shouting and he told her he loved her, I thought he would say, "And I love Mel too!" But admitting that he liked her was good enough for me as well. But ugh Mel... so far this season has been focusing a lot on her feelings, so I'm assuming the rest of the season (or at least the first couple of episodes) that Mel will be in denial... Just go home Austin. Please. I don't like you anymore. >.>
I just knew it.That something would get in the way.Austin aside, the episode was awesome. Can't wait for next season which obviously is going to be all about Joe chasing Mel with Lennox cheering him on.Very excited about that.Just wish Mel was more open to the idea of them getting together/admitting her feelings ,but I guess her previous relationship issues has scarred her.Austin is probably not going to last long anyway and as long as they don't pair Joe with someone else by the time Mel is ready to tell him how she feels ,I'm good.
i agree. i feel like Mel is very scared of her feelings, as we saw when she went back to Toledo. Something tells me in the that if it came down to it, Mel would chose Joe in a heartbeat.
Hahaha. I thought he was gonna say he loved Mel when Lennox asked him about his feelings in the car. I TOLD YOU!! I KNEW he was gonna come out with his feelings first, b/c he's been struggling with it more. I mean it's constantly all over his face, I'm SIKED he unleashed his feelings, and i'm glad Lennox was supporting him. I knew she'd be happy, when she started clapping her hands, i started clapping mine. lol IKR??? With his stupid vasectomy penis!
i agree, i feel like she is very scared of her feelings for Joe, because they are strong and she if afraid it wont work out. but come on, just tell him YOU LOVE HIM MEL!!!! :P
poor Joe. you could just here the defeat in his voice when he said "Austin". :( i hope in the xmas special they continue it cause how the hell will they act like nothing happened?!?!?!?!?!!!! :/
Who knows, this special could stray from the present story line, since it's just a special and a single episode. But maybe not. :) Hopefully not! Mel might continue to act like nothing happened, but Joe won't. They should eventually move towards a relationship though. That's what MJH hinted at in an interview.
Oh boy i just thought of something(can't believe it just came to my attention now) since december is the next new episode, does that mean they'll do a time jump?!?! If they do, i hope we get flashbacks of what went down when Austin was standing there with Mel and Joe.
Poor Joey - Austin go away, far far away!!!!! It would be cool if Mel got pregnant after that night - that would be a story to tell - hormonal Mel and italian love Joey :D:D:D:D
Hm maybe. Right now every season has been a year. Since there's a second season 3 set it should be around 3 and a half years since the start of the show. Then they suddenly skip to December? And then what, skip back? Oh wait like a future episode I actually kind of like that idea. xD
I want them to have a baby eventually, but not right now. They would probably go with the whole "who's the father,Joey or Austin" thing if it happened now anyway.
Huh. Weird. Of course everyone knows that they'll get together eventually, but if it is a future episode I think it would spoil them getting together by the end of the season.
Unless Mel has a quick 2-minute goodbye conversation with Austin. But they set us up for this making it seem like it's such a big thing, and it's going to be torture waiting, so as weird as this may sound if they resolve the whole Austin issue too quickly in the beginning I'll probably be mad.
If they drag it out a little I wouldn't mind, because it would give Mel a chance to realize who she really wants to be with, and it will give Joe a chance to show her possibly. Maybe Mel will tell Austin she has to think about it? That actually might work for me. She tells Austin that and he goes away and they go about their Christmas happily... wait that doesn't make sense, it's not Christmas time in part 2... Ugh this is going to kill me.
Maybe she'll mention that she's still unsure about Austin or he's away on some trip or whatever. And she and Joe will get closer and then she'll back away because she's still so unsure. Or maybe the whole episode will be one big happy dream she's having that she and Joe are finally together.
hahahaha. take 2 aspirins, and reply to me in the morning. It's Shannon recommended. lol.....but seriously i'm right there with u. If they resolve Austin's situation i'll be uspet and i won't like that they rushed Mel and Joe either cuz then it won't feel right. For example...with my show Bones...they waited 7 yrs to hook them up!! 7 freaking seasons of us fans waiting, THEN when they finally did hook up IT WAS OFF SCREEN!!!! we didn't get a kiss of them in bed NOTHING. Then Brennan tells her BFF Angela the next day (w/o actually saying it mind u, just giving us facial expressions and nods to what went down) then at the end of the season finale she tells Booth she's pregnant!! U have no idea how pissed the fans were. smmfh!! Ok i've gotten used to it now, cuz when it returns on the 16th of this month it'll be starting it's 9th season, BUT it still doesn't feel natural to me, well season 8 didn't. It's very cute to see them together. But b/c we missed them actually hooking up(and they never did flashbacks of that scene with made it worse, we don't know who kissed who first, what was the last sentence they said before doing it, NOTHING) it just felt off and rushed. I really hope IF they do a time jump, we get to see what happend. I'll even consider the dream theory, cuz that just means subconsciously she wants to be with Joe and she'll make it into reality.
Am I the only one that thinks the Christmas special is just a side episode? Looking at the promo, a lot of things don't fit. Like when Joe asks Ryder if Mel does this every year (Dressing up as Santa Claus). He's lived in that house for three years so he would have known, unless he visits his folks during the holiday season. Yes, we have a little tease with Joe seemingly leaning in for a kiss, but I think that's all that it was. Personally, I think we will have a longer wait until the Mel/Joe/Austin thing comes full circle in 2014. That storyline doesn't look like something that can easily be dropped for one Christmas episode.
I really did like how some things were acknowledged, like how Ryder and Lennox in need of a nanny is a bit silly at this point and of course Joe liking Mel.... :D I was also unreasonably gleeful about how open they both were over the sex being good! Yes.. I'm five BTW.....
The Longo's shouting and fighting as a sign of love was awesome! And adorable.
Ryder and the rat, LOL! Lennox getting humbled was awesome! Lennox and Ryder talking about Mel and Joe was hilarious. Ryder's "I thought that was me" killed me!
Between Joe's "does she do this very year" and Lennox not having her pink highlights, I'm thinking it could be a flashback episode to their first Christmas together. Otherwise the time jump from spring to next Christmas has A LOT to account for and the way they left the story with the episode this week, it's gonna be hard to fit smoothly in the story.
So yeah it's either a completely random "special" episode or it's flashback involved...
The fact that he brought up how ridiculous the "I need to be your nanny" front is makes me wonder if he has suspected for a while now that Mel may return his feelings. Which brings up the question, how long has he suspected? Lol. I know they were drunk on love potion, and I think some people were upset that their first kiss and first time was while they were drunk, but honestly I don't see how it would have happened any other way. And at least, as you said, they both indirectly admitted that their first time was special to them.
After watching the ending to the episode (As painful as it was), it raised a couple of questions I was thinking about. Like, let's say Mel chooses Austin for a while, will Joe put his feelings for Mel aside and continue living in her house, will he move out since the kids are too old for a nanny. Or if things are left undecided, Ryder's rat chases Austin out (That was a not-so-serious scenario.) I understand Mel's frightened since she doesn't want to ruin the friendship with Joe, but I think she might noticed her feelings for Joe are much deeper than she'd like to admit. I fully expect Lennox to get on her aunt's case when the show comes back.
I also would like to see Joe's mom again on the show. She cracked me up, especially when she convinced Joe to go after Mel. That was the highlight of the episode for me, with Joe telling Lennox about how he feels about Mel.
7 years that's crazy... and they didn't show anything?! What?! I don't understand that lol. If they have the time jump, I'm sure they'll jump back when the rest of the season picks back up again. But now I'm just thinking it will be a totally separate episode. It makes the best sense to me.
It's hard to say. I don't think it will have anything to do with the cliffhanger, but I don't think it's a flashback either because Mel and Joe just look so comfortable with each other, and they LOOK like they almost kiss, so I'm getting the feeling is it from this season... Maybe he did go visit family over the holidays? It's confusing. :/
IKR???? we were pissed and that will always bother me, cuz they have yet to flashback to that moment. smh anyways i think the writers on this show will have flashbacks. I'm actually curious to see a flashback of Mel and her fiance. That would be something worth watching. IMO.
I like that; him moving out would be an interesting twist. It would be hilarious to see the house fall into chaos. Mel scrambling to cook something edible, lol. Ryder's rat chasing Austin... lmao! He'd be a Mel/Joe shipper just like the rest of us! Oh, maybe Joe's family could come visit for Christmas? That would be funny.
Sorry I haven't responded in a couple days; been busy! A flashback to her fiance or their wedding, that would be interesting. Not sure how they could fit that into the story line though.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Of course Mel's ex had to come back just in time. *grumble*
ReplyDeletePoor Joe.
I had a stupid fire drill and missed most of the episode (so pissed), but I'll watch on ABC Family's site tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOD at Mel and Joe actually sleeping together!
Ugh at Austin coming back when Joe was finally ready to admit he has feelings for her!
And ENDING ON TO BE CONTINUED? THAT IS SO CRUEL.
It was awesome! I'm pissed at Austin though... and Mel... he loves you, why can't you see that?! And you love him! December is going to come slowly...
ReplyDeletePoor Joe! Great episode!
ReplyDeleteI honestly thought that when he and Gloria were shouting and he told her he loved her, I thought he would say, "And I love Mel too!" ReplyDeletei was crying!!!!! cant wait till december!!!
ReplyDeleteAwww were you really? Out of happiness or sadness? LOL December is sooo far away. UGH!!
ReplyDeleteHahaha. I thought he was gonna say he loved Mel when Lennox asked him about his feelings in the car. I TOLD YOU!! ReplyDeleteI honestly dont see the charisma between Joe and Mel. I dont. There was more between Shannon Elizabeth and he a few episodes back.
ReplyDeleteThat would have been a good moment too. Yes you were right! :D Mel is just so damn stubborn... And scared that it might fail..
ReplyDeleteout of happiness of course! :) i hope it comes quick!
ReplyDeletei agree, i feel like she is very scared of her feelings for Joe, because they are strong and she if afraid it wont work out. but come on, just tell him YOU LOVE HIM MEL!!!! :P
ReplyDeleteHere here!!
ReplyDeleteI think Joe is willing to fight for her and he'll reassure her that he's not going anywhere. = )
ReplyDeleteLOL nice!! I'm glad my other shows are returning next month, that'll keep me very busy til December. December will be here before you know it. = )

ReplyDeletenooooo why the show had to end like that

Really Austin, really? I literally yelled this at my TV. They really do love torturing us.
