AGENT PHIL COULSON IS BACK IN ACTION! THIS FALL HE ASSEMBLES A DEDICATED,
HIGHLY SELECT GROUP OF AGENTS FOR THE WORLDWIDE LAW-ENFORCEMENT AGENCY KNOWN AS S.H.I.E.L.D., WITH THEIR FIRST ASSIGNMENT TO TRACK DOWN AN ORDINARY MAN WITH EXTRAORDINARY POWERS – POWERS WHICH COULD HAVE DEVASTATING CONSEQUENCES -- ON THE PREMIERE OF ABC’S “MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.”

Joss Whedon, the creative genius behind the feature film “Marvel’s The Avengers,” one of the highest grossing films of all time, and of the iconic television series “Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” has co-created “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” a dynamic, action-packed one-hour drama that brings back Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) to lead a team of highly skilled agents to investigate extra-normal and super human people and events worldwide. The series premieres TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 (8:00-9:01 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

These agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have a mission: To investigate the new, the strange and the unknown around the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary.

In the premiere episode, “Pilot,” it’s just after the battle of New York, and now that the existence of super heroes and aliens has become public knowledge, the world is trying to come to grips with this new reality. Agent Phil Coulson is back in action and has his eye on a mysterious group called The Rising Tide. In order to track this unseen, unknown enemy, he has assembled a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division). The group’s first assignment together as a team finds them trying to track down an ordinary man who has gained extraordinary powers. Powers that could have devastating consequences.

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward, Chloe Bennet as Skye, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz and Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons.

Guest starring are J. August Richards as Mike, Shannon Lucio as Debbie, Ron Glass as Dr. Streiten and Bob Stephenson as Gary, with special guest star Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill.

”Pilot” was written by Joss Whedon & Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen and directed by Joss Whedon.

  3. Not that i'm not hyped about this show or that i dislike Agent Phil Coulson, BUT i don't like the fact that they brought him back to life, AND how the hell did they do it anyway??? He went out great in The Avengers, and they could've left it that way. Hmm however, does that mean he'll make an appearance in The Avengers sequel??? Cuz that would be great. LOL

  4. They said the reason makes sense and it fitting, though I will see about that when we find out. I was a bit put off at first at their decision to bring back someone whose death inspired the Avengers (partly) to victory.

We already have been beaten over the head that its not as simple as "being brought to life" its a series-long character arc and one of the first mysteries we are introduced to and ever since the first hint, there's a sense of dreadful darker tones surrounding him being there.

  7. Idc. This isn't SPN....this is something much more than that. and that's why it bothers me. He was dead, now he's alive. Period. That's my problem. And it's not like they can come up with some cheesy thing, like he had a twin, cuz we know he didn't. What they'll have someone work on him to get his heart beating?? I just don't like it. His death meant so much more. And he's a human being not a mutant. He couldn't have pulled a Professor X. sigh....w/e they decide to do, they just need to make it right. And i really hope it makes sense.

  8. The Rising Tide? Couldn't they have simply used HYDRA instead?

  9. I'm guessing they want to work up to HYDRA.

  10. You're probably right about that.

  11. I have a question. I actually never saw the Avengers or Iron Man 3, at least not yet. I know I need to see them and I want to see them. I've been a little behind on my movies. I do want to watch this and based on this press release, it sounds like it's somewhat of a sequel to something with Coulson and all. Can someone tell me what I should watch first so that I know what happened previously? The Avengers? Iron Man 3? I don't like to jump into TV series at random times. I like to go from pilot/premiere through to finale. Thanks.
