We say goodbye to Breaking Bad, which unfortunately just couldn't get into the fight with Supernatural in yesterdays poll, meaning the two-time champion remains to fight in the final 16. Joining it in a round three battle we haven't seen since the 2010 competition is LOST, the show you all have to credit as without LOST, there would likely be no SpoilerTV. That should be a humdinger of a battle, and is certainly my most anticipated fight of the next round thus far...
Today we have a couple of popular current shows challenging a couple of cult hits. Firstly we have The Mentalist challenging Leverage, whilst Revenge aims its target at Joss Whedon's Space Opera Firefly...
For anyone who missed the rules, here they are again:

ReplyDeleteI have a feeling my choices are going down today but Leverage and Revenge. I would vote for Leverage over almost any show in this contest, and definitely over any show in this bracket. I really miss Eliot, Hardison, and of course Parker. Still hoping for a movie with them. I watched season 1 of The Mentalist but could not stand the Jayne character so I had to quit that show. The other characters were good though.
ReplyDeleteRevenge is a fun, soapy, somewhat addictive show and I enjoyed it even though that is not usually my type of TV. I thought Firefly was good but I went in with way too high expectations after hearing everyone rave about it so it ended up being disappointing to me. I think I would have enjoyed it more had I not heard that it was the best show ever from so many people.

ReplyDeleteFirst poll I didn't vote, as I have never watched Leverage and I have watched like the first 8 eps of the mentalist but ultimately fell it was not compelling enough to make me stick around for yet another procedural.
ReplyDeleteOn the second one, it was an easy vote for Revenge. I have never seen Firefly, although I think I should, and Revenge is one of my favorite shows on the air, so Revenge gets it easily.
Only ever watched firefly so that gets my vote , still cant get over the fact that it got cancelled

ReplyDeleteSecond poll - I voted for Revenge, although I plan on checking out Firefly at some point. Having said that, it's a bit funny that a few people are saying that Firefly will easily beat Revenge when it's been very close all day. It could go either way!
I just recently watched Leverage and I finished the whole series in about 2 weeks. It's an amazing show and their continuity and character development is off the charts. It makes me sad that it ended, and that few people have watched it. So my votes whole-heartedly go to Leverage and Firefly. (I don't like the Mentalist's main character, and I prefer Psych anyway!)

ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about Leverage is the chemistry between the cast and how much each character grew over the years. I doubt I will ever like a TV trio as much as I adored Parker, Eliot, and Hardison scenes. The three of them brought such diverse talents to the screen but ultimately made for one tight-knit family. I miss these characters so much.

"The Mental-List" was a rip off anyway! So it should be disqualified! The whole premise was stolen from an infinitely superior show, "Psych" on USA. James Roday and Dule Hill are hysterical together, and former "LA Law"er Corbin Bernson leads Timothy Omundson and Maggie Lawson in a terrific supporting cast.
