Two convincing wins for both Person of Interest and Homeland sees both comfortably into the final 32, whilst The New Normal and ER exit at stage one.
Today we have two very exciting battles, as 30 Rock takes on House for the penultimate place in round two, whilst we finish round one with a humm-dinger of a battle between ratings behemoth NCIS and cult classic The X-Files. Talk about saving the best until last!
For anyone who missed the rules, here they are again:
1) Two shows will go into battle in a poll, where after exactly 24 hours, the leading show will win the battle and will progress into the next round.

ReplyDeleteHouse all the way on the first one. It had some not so good moments, but it was excellent or at least very good for most of the time during its eight (!!) seasons run. On the second one, I have only watched random episodes for both but I have memories of watching random eps from The X Files when I was younger and they are some great memories. I went with The X Files

Liz Lemon is my hero, and 30 Rock is my personal favorite comedy tv series of all time. :)
TXF is such an iconic sci fi series that paved the way for so many other great shows as well.

ReplyDeleteSince there's literally no reason anyone should vote NCIS over X-Files, Mulder and Scully will ALWAYS have my vote (they only run into issues if they have to face off against Breaking Bad at this point for me).

Fairly easy: House and X-Files.
ReplyDeleteAll good shows in the pack, don't get me wrong, but I do have more of a soft spot for those two.
I never watched House, so I went with 30 Rock as I have seen a few episodes of that. NCIS and X Files was tough, but went with NCIS in the end, even though X Files was awesome, and had the amazingness of Mulder/Scully. Anyone remember that really freaky guy, Tooms? Those episodes still haunt me to this day.

ReplyDeleteI literally have 3 shows in R2 with a possibility of NCIS being my 4th. Unbelieveable. Surprised 24 and Arrow went out. 24 always popular and Arrow is one of those new ones with a growing fanbase.

H50 v LOST the former is seriously unlikely to win. LOST is a fan favourite of probably 85% of TV fans, while H50 has annoyed a lot of people with the latest storyline saga.
POI v Homeland. Could be tricky. POI is popular but Homeland appears strong. Lot of people fans of both. Very interesting battle.
Possibly NCIS v 30 Rock or House. NCIS would walk over the former, perhaps a struggle over the latter.
X-Files & 30 Rock

Most of the shows I wanted got into round 2, except for big bang theory and smallville. I'm really hoping at least a few of the following will make it to round 3; Game of thrones, Once Upon a Time, Supernatural, Revenge, Firefly, SG1.

ReplyDeleteI wish the matchups had fallen differently. I don't like either of the first two, although I can stand The Office and I never could go more than 3 minutes when Dr. House came on screen. However I have thoroughly enjoyed both NCIS and The X-Files. Since the X-Files was my second TV love though, I have to give it to Mulder and Scully and Skinner.
ReplyDeleteSkipped the first poll...as I hate 30 Rock and found House too formulaic in it's first season to hold my interest. Interesting for me...is that I voted for X-Files, a show that lost me...instead of NCIS, a show I sill watch after what 9, 10 seasons? I think it comes down to...NCIS is comfortable. Where X-Files was, in its hey day, dynamic and fresh.
