Sci-fi staple Tahmoh Penikett (Dollhouse, Battlestar Galactica) has landed a multi-episode arc on Season 9 of Supernatural, TVLine has learned.

Penikett’s Ezekiel is “a dignified warrior angel injured in the Fall” that took place at the close of last May’s finale, says executive producer Jeremy Carver.

He will first appear in the Season 9 premiere, airing on the show’s new night, Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 9/8c.

  6. Good actor and good choice.

  7. I am hoping they will include an angel as a possibly recurring character in the spin-off. Or go into lore that Supernatural only barely explained such as what constitutes "Godhood"? - Some loose end tying like Adam spontaneously released from the cage, Where is Chuck? Go into the whole Natural Order bit they touched on in S6 and barely any in S7. Plus, bring the golem & the rabbi back. That would be pretty interesting.

So defining dignified he wasn't trying to fall?. He sounds traditional but good and I hope so because there has to good angels and there have been some over the seasons, gotta be some more Cas alikes :)

  10. Hope he lasts longer than Benny.

  11. I'd rather Tahmoh (<3! ) be a recurring Hunter but the Angel Fall was very well done. I wonder if Ezekiel will be the angel that fell into the nearby lake.

  12. Secondary charaxters a-go-go. Carver comes right out and says it.

"We're really including some of our supporting characters in big ways this year," he said. "We're doing a lot more B and C stories than you've ever seen from the show before,"
    X

Sam and Dean have definitely been kicked to the side. It's going to be arcs about everyone except the Winchesters.

That's why Dean can't talk about his arc He doesn't have one, because he and Sam are no longer central to the show.

Obviously this new direction suits every body, actors included who are going to get a ton of time off.
It doesn't suit me, but then i'm nobody.

From reading all the spoilers it can appear to be like that, but the show will always be about the Winchesters. True the some storylines may lie upon supporting actors and actresses but not 100% Sam and Dean are kicking them to the side! (I'm only joking)
You may disagree but I thought to chuck in some hellfire light :)

  14. Well he's very easy on the eyes perfect for a worrior angel, strong and fit has a commanding look about him. About time the show gave us an angel like this. Cant wait to see how this character brings to the show. Lookinf forward to seeing him work with Jared and Jensen.

  15. Really? You can tell all that just from a few TINY snippets of spoilers and haven't seen the ACTUAL season yet?!

Seriously, this show has THE oddest fanbase I have ever been apart of :P

(Before anyone flames/down votes me, the above was a joke/compliment)

  16. Not a fan of the actor, but will reserve judgement and see what he does with the role.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yes to all of these except Adam and one of the FEW

    ReplyDelete
  18. I want more Benny!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh like Bitten had anything to do with the Winchesters, they were hardly on screen at all.

  20. Sounds like fun, I like the actor and a warrior Angel could be good or bad. Or not Angel at all any longer from the fall. Interesting.

  21. Or not Angel at all any longer from the fall.

The angels are still angels. The fall only trapped them on earth and took their ability to teleport, the rest of their abilities are intact.

    ReplyDelete
  22. OK thanks, I did not see that info on the Angels.

    ReplyDelete
  23. a fallen warrior angel sounds like perfect hunter material to me, more so than any angel on the show previously. It would be interesting to see how this angel adapts to life on earth if he wants to or if he wants his wings back?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Definitely a good fit for the show....

  25. He's so damn ugly! :-(

  26. This show is totally becoming "Supernatural & Friends."
I'm w/you! That comment from Carver doesn't excite me in the slightest. I have no desire to see supporting characters in huge arcs. I feel that's been attempted and has failed, but that's just me. If others like it, cool!
I'm a "brother" fan to the end. Those are the two I'm most interested in seeing, and they are why I watch Supernatural.

So only one episode you mentioned covers everything?.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think the show will find a way to bring Benny back if Ty is available,

    ReplyDelete
  29. I don't see many angels being too thrilled that they don't have "their wings" but some of them may be at least relieved that they're free from Naomi and her CIAngels' reprograming. Ezekiel may one of them and may be one of the angels who see the value in Cas's attempts to help angels achieve free will. So he may turn Hunter if he sees that path as a way to find personal fulfillment or helping the Winchesters (and Cas) deal with other "monsters" and "pissed off angels" allows Kevin the time to see if the angel tablet says anything about getting the angels' wings back.
If the SPN God had the foresight to see that angel and demons possessing humans could be problematic enough to leave instructions on locking each species away, he could have foresaw the Angel Fall and possibly left notes on how to reverse Metatron's spell. I know in an IGN interview of Singer/Carver (I couldn't get the link to work and only read a summary) said the Metatron would get lonely or bored and return select angels to Heaven. How does he do that? (There's no answer yet) Does he come down to earth and just take them (wingless) to Heaven or does he do "something" to the select angels to return their wings. It doesn't make much sense storywise for the all the angels to be stuck on earth forever (until the end of the series).

  30. Yup. It's the brothers I watch for too, there is just something special and addictive about them and their story ,and IMO no secondary characters can take their place,

In the end however, it's the ratings that matter.

If the viewers are happy with the show concentrating on other characters, fair enough.
However I will continue to root for Sam and Dean.

    ReplyDelete
  31. What Carver said seems pretty clear, and if there is a wealth of stories concentrating on the secondary characters, it's clear that there is going to be much less time for Sam and Dean, who are the only ones i watch for.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love how you are always so optimistic. I wish I could see things like you. :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I started watching True Justice just because Ty was on it, would love him back as Benny. Feral Dean, Benny & Cas were the only high points for me last season.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Not a Cas fan - ever - but I did like Feral Dean and would have enjoyed Benny a lot more, *IF* the show hadn't used 'Benny' as a point of inadequately explained contention between Dean and Sam.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Me too!

I just know how boring and disruptive I found Cas's arc this past year so I don't have much hope for other side characters' arcs. Oh wellI I will go in hoping it plays out better than it did last year!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Benny was just another example of hypocrisy of Dean and the writers.

    ReplyDelete
  37. The whole first half of the season was "inadequately explained contention".

    we're both fans regardless :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Don't get me started on this topic ... it'd turn ugly. As a poster somewhere on this board said, the show treated Benny like "Jesus" even though he had killed many people in the past before meeting Andrea. and Benny could have fell off the wagon at any time when he got topside.
