NBC has put in development Sparks, a drama project executive produced by Medium creator Glenn Gordon Caron and Michael London (Milk ), which has received a script commitment plus penalty. Written by Gwyn Lurie and Gary Marks (The Music Never Stopped), Sparks is based on the case files and life of renowned neurologist Dr. Oliver Sacks.

  1. Interesting, but what does it mean it has a penalty? Is it like "write that on the script and the show is gone" kind of penalty?

  2. It means the writer is paid a penalty if the script isn't produced.

  3. I have no idea who the guy, this show is based on, is, so I can't tell too much about what the show is about....

    Interesting it has a penalty though.... it usually shows some faith in the project, but with those creative names attached I can see why.

    Is the penalty just for producing the pilot or for series order too?
