This just in: FX Networks has ordered the drama pilot "Hoke," starring actor/producer Paul Giamatti, who will play Hoke Moseley, a homicide detective in the midst of a midlife crisis in 1985 Miami.
"Hoke" is based on the Charles Willeford novels Sideswipe, New Hope for the Dead and The Way We Die Now. Scott Frank adapted the books for the script and will direct the pilot. He'll also serve as showrunner if "Hoke" goes to series. Curtis Hanson, Carol Fenelon, Paul Giamatti, Scott Frank, and Dan Carey are executive producers. The pilot will be shot later this year in Miami.
