Not really looking forward to End!Verse. I don't care for human!Cas and dickhead!Dean (Sam's cool tho lol but only because Jared plays evil so well). End of the world stories are cool, but Croatoan obviously has the been there done that vibe to do it again. I guess it's nice that they're doing something like it since the year's rightish, but I thought the show was all about defying fate, heaven, and hell, and making your own way, ya know, that free will mattered. ;P
Dean is not a dickhead. Don't like that much. Cas I can live without but Dean is the heart of the series. His sacrifice and love for family holds it together
Is that just a camera thing or a flashback?. Its just unusual with the black and white photo because it gives other ideas. Regardless, looks interesting and these hunters could go a long way :)
So this is ep 4 they are filming first, and Sam's probably not ready for prime-time yet (I assume). I'm sure Dean doesn't mind the sub. LOL! She's got some serious hunting clothes on too! ha!
I'm not sure if we're going to go that way again. Dean in season 8 really wasn't that much like the "future Dean," and if they write him that way it's just going to feel like a plot device.
Well, they tried to ruin the Sam character in every other way last season so replacing him completely with a female wouldn't even surprise me any more!
They probably thought it was going to come across better than it did. Two kindred spirits both lost someone they loved , both dealing with it. The problem was it did not work . She came across as well nasty frankly and the moment she was introduced that way she and the relationship was never going to be accepted. Instead of getting the audience on side and caring , they did the opposite for alot of people including sad to say myself. Add the Sam did not look for Dean into the mix and it just was all wrong from the start IMO.
Oh, I agree. Leaving apart 'the Sam not looking affair', their love story was just badly done
Then there was no way that Amalia's loss however sad, could be compared to Sam's.
There was an abyss between her life and the one Sam had lived.
She still had a loving father as we found out, while Sam was truly alone.
Then if Sam was not going to tell her about the supernatural, it was doomed to failure anyway. Lisa had known and yet there was no future there even for her and Dean
In my opinion, if they had given Sam a more loving positive girl like Jessica seemed to have been; someone who would have cheered him up, it would have gone down better.
Too late now however. I just hope she doesn't come back again. I wouldn't like for Sanm to have to spend the reat of his life with her.
I think they were trying to communicate someone in pain. Also, I'm not being snarky here, but I think the sarcasm was supposed to remind us of Dean. A lot of the characters on SPN are very sarcastic, the biggest being Dean and Bobby. For some reason though, the fans accept sarcasm in male characters much more easily than in female characters, with maybe Ellen as the exception.
I think it's telling that they ended up writing Lisa a little like a cutout doll. No real person would be as accepting of all of the baggage Dean brought with him, or with him moving out when he did, without at least more of an adjustment, but that's what they needed to do to get the audience to sort of accept her. It's sad really.
I was just taking a "fresh look" at the picture and everyone is wearing shorts except for Jensen. The "chick" looks like the same one who is likely "Tracy" in earlier OTS picture with Guy Bee where she's holding a 'coffee cup'. I've don't recall "Dean" ever dressing that way either. Maybe it's a photo of a rehearsal not an actual shot of what's going to air. If they are all militia or hunters, I doubt that everyone would be wearing shorts. So much "chatter" has arisen from the young woman being dressed inappropriately for "hunting" and I've seen no comments about the male actors wearing shorts, too (unless someone has commented since last night).
If you don't mind my asking, where are you finding this episode identified as episode 9.04 because I've also read (without source cited) that it's episode 9.02. Anybody with a source can reply :).
Been following the tweets of Jim Michaels and Adam Glass, etc...they've all confirmed that he first ep being filmed is episode 4. Guy Norman Bee is the director for this eppy. Not sure why they are filming this one first, no one's really said. I know in the last 2 years, they filmed out of order so Jensen could prep early for his episode, but you got me on this one. Maybe someone else knows? Its def ep 4 though.
Yeah, I've been crudely following Jim's Tweeter every few days for a month now and I couldn't find any post saying it's ep 4. Then I scrolled through Adam's and Guy's twitters and couldn't find anything either but I rarely use twitter. Thanks anyway! A poster on my usual board said that she read on "lj" that it was ep 9.02 but she didn't say which SPN LJ. No matter, though... the scene looks great! I also have no idea why the show is delaying filming the premiere unless the premiere by necessity will be "Dean -heavier" and "#901" is a little "Dean lighter" (so JA could be a little more rested for the premiere). Shrug. We already know that Osric is in #901 because the same person (who provided the this pic and the earlier "Croatoan/The End" -like pic) also tweeted a pic of "Kevin in the MoL bunker" - unless the show very partially filmed the premiere and that pic is from the "premiere".
Guess we'll find out eventually. :) You could be right. It would make more sense for them to be filming #2 rather than #4 right now. And I'm sure #1 will be a tough one for Jared, no doubt, trying to pick up all that emotion from the end of Sacrifice right into the premiere. October is so far away. :)
It definitely could be. It wouldn't be the first time the fandom has thought it was an actual scene in the show but it ends up being something else. I still miss the sunglasses the brothers were wearing in the Good God Y'All promos that never appeared in the actual episode.
I think you're spot on. But it seems when some women get written as snarky, they get hated. But I have seen a few people who did like the character. Some may've been because of previous love of the actress, though. I thought Aycox Meg was phenomenal in that department. Miner and the writers ruined her to the point I refused to believe she was Meg.
Or the episode is about a camera crew following Dean and some lady around while they hunt stuff. Kinda like Ghost Hunters. Well, more like Mountain Monsters, cause that shite is HILARIOUS.
But without the Ghostfacers. I can't even come up with a reason why this camera crew would have found out about them or why they'd think it was a good idea. Then again, since when do the writers of this show need a good idea to put anything on screen lately? Maybe a mix of COPS, Ghost Hunters, with a side of Mountain Monsters.
I'm really just going off into my own little world here ... I'm sure it's all some innocuous behind the scenes photo that I'm building a non-existent episode on. Wouldn't be the first time ...
Okay, I'm getting in on the imagination game here. Dean and Sam are on a case involving a ghost town. When they arrive they see the camera crew and realizing they are not idiots like the Ghostfacers, the only choice is to wait until the crew is finished, risking that someone will die, or join them. Dean calls on his experience as a PA to land a job with the crew. Tara gives him a great recommendation. The lead guy gets attacked and while Dean and Sam save him, he is hurt and cannot finish the shoot. Rather than risk another actor joining the hunt, Dean and Sam do rock-paper-scissors to see who has to go back on screen because the experience in The French Mistake still scars them both. Dean of course loses. Dean goes in while Sam figures out how to erase/distort all footage from the shoot and blame it on the ghosts.
If their intention was to make her a male version of Dean they failed miserablly IMO,for she just came over as rude and arrogant and overbearing.
Bela , Ruby 1, Meg etc, were all snarky females, but Amelia was none of that . She was just downright unpleasant and if we were supposed to think that Sam was happy with her , well it certainly didn't show on-screen. He looked miserable most of the time, so for me she didn't add any joy to his life.
X
As for Lisa, I could sympathise with her in a way. She finds herself with this complicated man whom she probably loves and wants to help.
Her son has come to love Dean too.
As far as we know Dean is caring and attentive towards them, so she tries to be patient and understanding and wait him out.Nothing wrong with that.
In the end however, it's the supernatural that splits them up, not their relationship as a couple. She can't deal with that, and who can blame her.
Not bad . I would definitely watch that, especially as Dean now has his acting experience in TFM to fall back on and will surely fit in brilliantly as the new lead in the film.
Of course Sam decides to keep some of the footage of Dean's acting to bait him with, earning himself another dose of itching powder in his underwear.
For what it's worth, IMDB now has #901, Devil May Care, listed as 9.02 with an expected air date of 10/22/3 .... a lifetime away, lol! You're right about working harder to recapture the heavy emotions from the S8 finale; I don't know about the film timing of the S5 premiere (because I wasn't keeping track of these things until the beginning of S6) but with JA's directing the first filmed with different airing schedules (6.04. 7.03, 8.03) the J's may have become accustomed to filming a less emotionally charged episode first(s), then the heavier premieres later. It also tends to make more sense that "Kevin Tran" would almost certainly be in 9.02 and less certain 9.04 - not that I think he will be killed off so soon into S9, it's that the boys might have other fish to fry by then and will limit their Bunker time so they might call Kevin at the Bunker and have a one sided conversation.
Thanks for the intel. Yeah, I can imagine it's easier to get back into the character first and THEN get into the emotional stuff...making filming out of order better for the boys.
Should be interesting to see what tid bits come out of the Comic Con panel today.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
CROATOAN IS COMING
ReplyDeleteHa, it does give off that vibe doesn't it? For me the fact that the photo was taken in black and white adds to that feeling.
ReplyDeleteBut to me that wouldn't make sense right now.
Same guy posted another photo earlier of soldiers standing in front of a "WARNING: Area contaminated" sign.

Thanks, yes. We posted that one yesterday I believe :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Every pic I've seen BTS and filmed is black and white. I wonder if we're getting another B&W episode
ReplyDeleteDean is not a dickhead. Don't like that much. Cas I can live without but Dean is the heart of the series. His sacrifice and love for family holds it together
ReplyDeleteOf course when the brothers split up, the hot hunter has to go with Dean LOL. So predictable. "sideeyes"
ReplyDeleteIs that just a camera thing or a flashback?. Its just unusual with the black and white photo because it gives other ideas. Regardless, looks interesting and these hunters could go a long way :)
ReplyDeleteWouldn't you? ;)
ReplyDeleteBizzare views of the characters.
ReplyDeleteOur Dean isn't, but "The End" Dean was, that's why they're calling Dean that.
ReplyDeleteDude who's the chick?
ReplyDeletethey meant future Dean was a dickhead and he really was.
ReplyDeleteSo this is ep 4 they are filming first, and Sam's probably not ready for prime-time yet (I assume). I'm sure Dean doesn't mind the sub. LOL! She's got some serious hunting clothes on too! ha!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I hope that's not where the show is headed.
ReplyDeleteI don't really remember Dean having all that much story with hot lady hunters (I'm not counting Jo as she died soon after they met up again).
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if we're going to go that way again. Dean in season 8 really wasn't that much like the "future Dean," and if they write him that way it's just going to feel like a plot device.
ReplyDeleteDidn't you hear? Jared quit and they recast Sam as a woman.
ReplyDeleteSomeone that probably will not be written like Amelia was,
ReplyDeleteWell, they tried to ruin the Sam character in every other way last season so replacing him completely with a female wouldn't even surprise me any more!
ReplyDeleteI know this isn't the place for it but "Happy biirthday Mr Padalecki."
ReplyDeleteI'm really curious, and I am beng completely serious here. Why did they even write Amelia as they did?
ReplyDeleteDid no-one realise how unpleasant she was and that the way she treated Sam was so unloving.
I mean how could anyone have liked her, especially Sam?
They study the filming at the end of each day. Was there no who could have pointed it out? Muh.
They probably thought it was going to come across better than it did. Two kindred spirits both lost someone they loved , both dealing with it. The problem was it did not work . ReplyDeleteThe guys in shorts look like the camera crew.
ReplyDeleteOh , I see... one is definitely carrying a camera. I still feel this is a rehearsal/blocking pic.
ReplyDeleteI really don't know what to actually make of all this "In The End" looking sets....
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've been crudely following Jim's Tweeter every few days for a month now and I couldn't find any post saying it's ep 4. ReplyDeleteShe kinda looks like a female Sam, IMHO. Dunno if they could find a woman tall enough for him.
ReplyDeleteAww, a thumbs down for my comment? C'mon, admit it, thumbs down person, you laughed when you read it.
I think you're spot on. But it seems when some women get written as snarky, they get hated. But I have seen a few people who did like the character. ReplyDeleteThis reminds me, are they ever going to make a genderswap episode?
ReplyDeleteThey really should. That and a musical. Those are the two things this show needs to do. Stop taking itself so seriously.
ReplyDeleteSo....Ghostfacers 3?
ReplyDeleteBut without the Ghostfacers. I can't even come up with a reason why this camera crew would have found out about them or why they'd think it was a good idea. Yea for brother pranking and happy smiles,
Maybe they'll do a crossover. They can go wipe out The Originals. And one of the Originals was a Navy pilot so Gibbs and Co. come after the boys.
ReplyDeleteMay have worked better if Sam hit HER dog. Might have generated more sympathy for her that way.
ReplyDeleteAdd in one fake psychic and his sidekick and you have the best episode of SPN in the history of EVER.
ReplyDeleteYes, I recall a couple other "promo scenes" that didn't make it into the actual episode.
