Scene Of The Week - July 14, 2013 - *POLL*

14 Jul 2013

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great scenes that we've seen recently.

DEFIANCE, "Everything is Broken", July 8, 2013, Actors: Grant Bowler, Stephanie Leonidas
The Scene: Nolan gets shot trying to save Irisa
A Dahne:
For me the best part of the show is the father-daughter bond and there were a lot of great scenes of these two in the finale.

DEXTER, "Every Silver Lining...", July 7, 2013, Actors: Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, Charlotte Rampling, James Remar
The Scenes: Harry's video & Deb admits to possibly killing "El Sapo"
Sharon Seymour:
Dexter and Dr.Vogel watch "Harry's Video".
Darth Locke: Deb admits to possibly killing "El Sapo" and asks Dexter for help by switching out her gun from evidence. Dr. Vogal and Dexter scenes were also really superb, but this reveal that Deb might be headed down a serial killing path is really exciting. (Plus I would like mention a shout out to Michael C. Hall, as this episode was his directorial debut. He did a fantastic job!)
DarkUFO: Dexter watches Harry on the video.

FALLING SKIES, "Be Silent and Come Out", July 7, 2013, Actors: Noah Wyle, Drew Roy, Connor Jessup, Maxim Knight, Sarah Sanguin Carter
The Scenes: Hal takes Tom hostage & Mason family and Maggie stop Hal & Hal has the bug removed

Justyna Kubica: The way everyone came together in order to save Hal from himself and to stop him from hurting his own family was a very touching moment. Especially seeing just how badly he was fighting with "the alien bug" inside him, even going as far as almost killing himself only to make sure he doesn't hurt anyone. Brilliant work in the entire episode by Drew Roy. He was great at portraying the differences between the crazy, haunted persona and a desperate, scared man wanting to protect his loved ones. Also, I have to admit, I'm really glad this "Hal is under Karen's influence" plot is over. Wasn't a big fan. My honorable mention for another scene in this episode would be for the moment where Hal has the bug removed - great performances by the cast!
Sharon Seymour: Hal takes Tom hostage.
Linda Zoi: The scene where Hal is tied to the bed and removed the alien bug.
DarkUFO: Hal has the bug removed.

MELISSA AND JOEY, "The Unkindest Cut", July 10, 2013, Actors: Joey Lawrence, Melissa Joan Hart
The Scene: Joey brings over the neighbors' baby to Mel
Klutzy Girl:
Joey brings over the neighbors' baby to convince Mel not to change her mind. The look on his face when he sees her is just pure love. I'm so excited for the day where they have more kids.

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, "Gamma Zeta Die!", July 9, 2013, Actor: Troian Bellisario
The Scene: Spencer quotes Game Of Thrones
Jamie Coudeville:
I laughed so hard at this, definitly one of my favorite Spencer moments.
Jaymie Bailey: Spencer Hastings vs. the college info nerd/quoting Game of Thrones. The girls faced a lot of drama in "Gamma Zeta Die!," so it was nice to have a funny scene that showed Spencer's humor in the best way.

RAY DONOVAN, "A Mouth Is a Mouth", July 7, 2013
The Scene: One of Ray's guys drops of cash for Cloe's surgery
Darth Locke:
One of Ray's guys drops of cash for Cloe's surgery not long after Ray dramatically threatened Cloe after she threatened Tommy Wheeler.

RIZZOLI AND ISLES, "But I Am a Good Girl", July 9, 2013, Actors: Angie Harmon, Sasha Alexander, Colin Egglesfield, Alexandra Holden
The Scene: Jane and Maura succesfully Parent Trap Tommy and Lydia
Jamie Coudeville:
As someone who has seen the Parent Trap a million times, this scene made me very proud.

SIBERIA, "A Question of Reality", July 8, 2013, Actor: Esther Anderson
The Scene: Esther gives the other contestant the magic mushrooms
Sharon Seymour:
Esther gives the other contestant the magic mushrooms.

TEEN WOLF, "Motel California", July 8, 2013, Actors: Dylan O'Brien, Tyler Posey, Crystal Reed, Holland Roden
The Scene: Stiles talks Scott out of killing himself

Justyna Kubica: This week's episode is one of my favorites in the entire series. And the scene is not only my favorite scene of the week but it might just be the best scene I've seen this summer on TV. Stiles, my hero, he just keeps getting more awesome. In this very emotional moment, Scott (under the influence of wolfsbane) just gives up saying there is no hope for him and that since the day he was bitten the people around him keep getting hurt and there's nothing he can do to stop that. He wishes to come back to being no one, "no one at all" and plans on setting himself on fire. That's when Stiles intervenes saying that Scott's his brother and that if he wants to die then he's going down with him.
And seeing his best friend risking his life like this is just the thing Scott needs to stop. But just when everything seems to be okay the two are attacked and in the end Lydia pushes them both away from the fire and saves their lives. That was one beautiful and, at the same time, really heartbreaking moment. Excellent performance by the cast, especially Dylan O'Brien and Tyler Posey! The relationship between Scott and Stiles is definitely one of the best things about the show and I can't wait to see what's gonna happen with these two next.
Klutzy Girl: They truly are brothers (and I hope someday that Sheriff and Melissa make that official) and the scene was so emotional. I just loved it so much and hope we get more of this from the show.
Jamie Coudeville: This scene was so powerful and made me fall in love with their relationship all over again.
Linda Zoi: The final speech of Stiles when Scott tries to kill himself.
A Dahne: Stiles talking Scott out of killing himself with his "we're brothers" speech was the most powerful thing I've seen on TV all summer. It may be the best the show has ever done and the acting was superb all around.

THE FOSTERS, "Consequently", July 10, 2013
The Scene: The Dinner party
Klutzy Girl:
At the dinner party where Lexi's parents explain that there's nothing more Catholic than family and that everyone picks and chooses things in the Bible. I was certain they were going to be homophobic and I'm so glad they weren't. It was just a pretty awesome scene.

TRUE BLOOD, "At Last", July 7, 2013, Actors: Anna Paquin, Alexander SkarsgÄrd, Rob Kazinsky, Amelia Rose Blaire
The Scenes: Eric makes Willa a vampire & Sookie confronts Ben

Linda Zoi: When Sookie tells Ben: "Okay, you can get up. Get up and get your hands off me or you're dead, Warlow!"
Darth Locke: Eric makes Willa a vampire. Even though there were a few scenes that I thought were really interesting (Like Jess attacking Andy's kids, Warlow spitting out Niall's blood, or Sookie luring Warlow into a trap) I really liked how atmospheric this scene was. It reminded me of something out of an older horror.
Robin Smyth: Sookie to Warlow: "Get the f**k off me or die."

UNDER THE DOME, "Manhunt", July 8, 2013, Actors: Rachelle Lefevre, Colin Ford, Mackenzie Lintz
The Scene: Julia finds the map & Joe and Norrie have a seizure
Linda Zoi:
Julia finds the map with the X.
DarkUFO: Joe and Norrie have a joint seizure.

WAREHOUSE 13, "The Truth Hurts", July 8, 2013, Actors: Allison Scagliotti, Anthony Stewart Head
The Scene: The ending sequence & Paracelsus manipulates Pete

Justyna Kubica: I really loved the ending sequence of the episode, with the team leaving the warehouse, running away from Paracelsus, the glimpse of Myka lying in the hospital and especially the final confrontation between Claudia and Paracelsus. I can't wait to see what's gonna happen with these two! And what a fantastic idea to use "No light, no light" in the scene. Love the song! Also, I noticed that whenever I hear one of the Florence And The Machine's songs on TV, it's a always a great scene! And last, but definitely not least, I can't express how awesome it is to see Anthony Head back on TV! Especially after his last performance in another show which I won't name here (still too soon). Anyway, it's hard to believe the show is so close to an end! Season 5 can't come too soon.
A Dahne: Paracelsus' slow strut through the warehouse until Claudia faces off against him like an old-fashioned High Noon shootout.
Robin Smyth: Paracelsus' slow strut through the warehouse until Claudia faces off against him like an old-fashioned High Noon shootout.

  1. Honorable mention: The scene in Warehouse 13 where Pete is crying and begs Myka not to leave him. His abandonment issues run deep and that scene hurt.

  3. I think it should've been one of the choices. JMO. It almost made me cry!

  4. Loved that scene in The Fosters! I also loved the scene at the party where Wyatt breaks down in Callie's arms, Callie comforts him, and then he gets up and cuts out part of his wall art in the closet.

The entire "What If?" episode of Switched at Birth was also great. If I had to pick one scene, though, I'd have to say when Daphne was taken from Regina and brought to the Kennishes. My heart broke for both Regina and Daphne as child was taken away from mother and moved to a new, strange home, wondering where "Momma" was. And later in the episode when teenage Daphne got home from the party and sat in her closet, sobbing and hugging the stuffed dog she had brought with her to the Kennishes. A time which she may or may not have remembered.

  5. The whole Teen Wolf episode just blew my mind, my favourite scene was probably Isaac's hallucination (I just love Daniel Sharman, I can't help it!). I also really liked True Blood (Sookie serving dinner to Ben/Warlow and Jessica trying to be friendly with the fairies were my favourite scenes).

I also really liked Do No Harm (I'm probably the only one still watching it, yes?). I loved when Ian arrived at the ceremony and started flirting with Vanessa's daughter, so many funny one-liners.

I totally agree with both above comments! Think I've watched that scene at least 10 times in the past week and it gets me each time.

  7. The Joe and Norrie joint seizure. It happens when they are in physical contact with each other. They say some words together, about pink stars or something, and I believe the scene is going to be key to the mythology.

  8. Teen Wolf: Stiles talks Scott out of killing himself.
That scene was so powerful. Best scene of the season so far.

  9. I think they say, "Pink stars are falling into line." I agree that this will be a key part of the mythology. In fact, they are the most intriguing characters to me in the show so far.

  10. Teen Wolf had the best scene by far of the week and the summer. It's probably my favorite moment of the whole show too. I love when they focus on Stiles and Scott as brothers. It's my favorite relationship of Teen Wolf.

  12. The whole second half of Warehouse 13 was incredible. From Pete and Myka being emotional about her cancer to the closing sequence with Claudia ... So intense. When watching the very beginning of the episode, I felt it a bit of a "normal" episode, not a season finale. And then Pete and Myka, and here we are. Loved the tears in Jinksy's eyes too when he had to leave Claudia ... Who is definetly this season's character, from the very beginning where she saved Jinks, to the end, trying to save the warehouse
