decent ep with some forward movement of sorts, but I do feel that a few of the performances felt a bit forced/cartoonish still, but not so much that they detracted from the ep for me. still enjoying the show quite a bit
Good entertainment. I liked the bonding of Julia and Junior--uh, James. So big Jim and the crazy cleric are in some drug business together? Whatever. But the best part was the two teens in seizures after touching each other. And they said something, about stars or something. Wonder how that will play out.
This felt like the first episode to show some real character development. Big Jim especially felt much more like a real person with his own agendas, concerns, and values compared to the relatively broad, cartoonish villainy of the past two episodes. Good to see different pairs interacting.
Couple things I noticed, or wondered if I noticed. XD - Angie has a butterfly tattoo on her shoulder... Does it have symbolic significance? She is trapped in a cold war chrysalis of a sort... Just sayin'. - Did Barbie shy away from (or outright about face) from DJ Bushy/ Phil or was it just me? I wonder what their connection is. Did Phil get his radio training in the military? Did he meet Barbie some time prior. Maybe at the Barbie dream cabin?
This was an okay episode but some of the dialogues were plain stupid like Norrie's "My moms, my pops" and Big Jim talking about Duke eating mashed potatoes in the sky. And how stupid is Ben? Also we never really did find out what Paul was upto.
And now we talk about Junior. What's his deal? When he saw Julia in that tunnel and was all like "You shouldn't have followed me" I thought he was going to kill her. And then there was the milk scene at the end. Was Big Jim asking Junior to drink his milk and Junior throwing it in the sink supposed to have some deeper meaning which I missed?
Agreed on Junior. I cannot decipher if he is a dangerous and violent individual or just socially odd and disturbed. OF course the two are not mutually exclusive in the end.
I took the milk scene as Junior hates his dad and his condescending tone so much he will do the opposite of what Big Jim says to show he is his own man... and not just Junior. So no real deeper meaning, just typical childish rebellion! XD
Big Jim was drinking alcohol, yet he poured milk for his son, as a symbol of who was the adult here, and who was the child. Junior objected to his father's put-down. He's not a kid anymore.
As others pointed out, I thought some of the scenes felt kind of cartoonish. I don't know if it was the writing or the performances, although I'm betting on the former. Like the first scene between Junior and Jim, it's like they were going down a checklist of clichéd things and oneliners they could toss out.
Anyway. I like that the plot is moving forward relatively fast!
For the most part, this episode just felt off. There were way too many long speeches when there could have been action, Junior was even more annoying than usual and got a bigger role, no one was worried about the essentials, nothing more was found out about the dome, and I find it hard to believe that no one is missing Angie yet. Looks like next week things are going to pickup though.
I find the mystery of Joe and Norrie's seizures to be a highlight of the show too. For me it is second only to the dome itself in questions to be answered.
This is how I took it too. The milk itself was symbolic of being a child. Dumping the milk out was Junior's way of saying he was no longer a child his dad could boss around and insult.
This site has recently put up an interview with the producer, Neil Baer, where he says the reason no one's looking for Angie is that she's an independent sort and has her own apartment. I don't know why people aren't more freaked about being enclosed in a dome. Not like it happens every day.
Yes but this is not normal times. You would think that Joe, having no other family, would be seeking her out. Her job has noticed she's missing and people know she was inside the dome, but no one's questioned why she hasn't shown up. That is very odd no matter how independent someone might be.
Lets not forget James was trying to knock the dome down lol but also resulted in the power surge at the house. And it seems like it's magnetized if that's the case then why not try to short circuit with a shock of energy cancelling the magnetized part of the dome which im assuming is acting like a shield and let's say the magnetized part was short circuited would that mean the dome would crack open with a punch or strike of a blunt object??
I feel that the DJ may have just seen Barbie with the doctor and he was trying to save face... at least for some reason I'm hoping it's something that simple.
Sinister conspiracy theories can be my go to also, but in same cases I think the easy answer can actually work better in terms of story, and this is one of those situations.
Really? I find the seizure thing to be the worst part of the show. I wish they would at least rehearse it a few times, That goes for you too mr. cameraman.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteSure, certainly could be something like that!
ReplyDeleteMy mind goes to darker and more clandestine regions first though! XD

ReplyDeleteHaha, but you keep coming back to watch it :-)
ReplyDeleteI gave it a chance. I quit at the 6th episode.
ReplyDeleteIt's more the mystery of the seizures than the seizures themselves.
ReplyDeleteI'm only on episode 4 and honestly thinking about quitting soon too.
