  2. Lots of good nominations! Though it's a shame The Americans didn't receive more nominations, it's an excellent show.

    ReplyDelete
  3. so disapointed the series the following wasent nominated-it so deserved 2

    ReplyDelete
  4. Its a shame that the lead actress of Orphan Black was not nominated! Hoping for Breaking Bad to take all the awards due to its final season!

    ReplyDelete
  5. i really wish there were some surprises in these noms tbh. its almost the same shows and actors every year. still, happy for Vera Farmiga.

    ReplyDelete
  6. can't believe Tatiana Maslany the lead actress of Orphn Black was not nominated!

    Wooooo! Go Emilia Clarke!!

The Academy has been terribly rude in not nominating Hannibal. What's to be done about that?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Wilson Crawford18 July 2013 at 14:28

Well, I'm disappointed... Glenn Close in the series finale of Damages was absolutely out of this world. That scene with her father was pure emmy gold and the whole episode she was in rare form.

    Eat The Emmys.

No tatiana Maslany nomination?? What is wrong with those people?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Excellent to see House of Cards get both Outstanding Drama and Outstanding Drama Actor/Actress nods

YESSSSSSS KERRY!!!!!!! I'm so happy for her!

  14. Every year is the same. Same shows, same actors. GoT, BrBa, Mad Men, Homeland, Danes, Lewis, Cranston,Paul, TBBT, Parsons. Some of them are good, some of them not. TBBT since season 4 just terrible compared to first 3 seasons. Then again where is SoA? Justified? Olyphant? Goggins? Hello..

    ReplyDelete
  15. Im happy for Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad, but I think Hannibal deserved some nominations :(

    ReplyDelete
  16. Nicolás Festa18 July 2013 at 14:51

50% of those nominations have no sense... What's Girls doing there? Nashville for best lead actress? No Emmy Rossum or William H Macy? What the hell! Where on earth is Shameless? No Danny Pudi again? I could go on and on... Why is GoT everywhere you look? It's a good show, but it's not Mad Men or Breaking Bad...

On the other hand... good to see they pay atention to House of Cards. AMAZING ACTING.

That's a joke, right? I can't believe how many people were missed here!
The most obvious one: Tatiana Maslany! It's like with Fringe Cast all over again!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I think this is the year in which I like the nominations the least. I hope GoT and Homeland kill it all for what is worth but it is so ridiculous, like, seriously, I won't even get into who should be nominated and is not. My only happy moment came from seeing Kerry Washington nominated for Scandal. On the comedy side, the absence of New Girl, Zoey and Jake is mind blowing but whatever, I hope MF or TBBT can win their categories.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ok first if all, I am very happy about the Veep moms, especially Anna Chlumsky!
BUT where is Hannibal? Mads and Hugh for Lead and Gillian Anderson for guest? Furthermore they again left out Parenthood! Lauren Graham us long overdue and Potter and Krause both were very strong this season.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm at a loss for words.....

    ReplyDelete
  21. I can't believe that Tatiana Maslany wasn't nominated for her brilliant portrayal of the clones on Orphan Black. I'm seriously flabbergasted. I get that many of the nominees are talented but she plays six roles. *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  22. I don't get outstanding vibe in these nominations.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I find it hilarious that Downton Abbey continues to get so many nominations, it's been total crap for years now (other than the wonderful Maggie Smith that is).

Nice to see Merritt Wever nominated, hope she wins it this year. Ditto Sarah Paulson for her great work this year on AHS: Asylum.

    ReplyDelete
  24. It's the best the poms have got and it is one of the best series in the world at the moment. It deserves every nomination it gets

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ceci Bibbó Pollio18 July 2013 at 15:47

No Michelle Fairley? Seriously? The North Remembers...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Panos Nestoras18 July 2013 at 15:47

As usual at least half the nominations suck...The ones that i'm happy for are all the nominations for House of cards, Breaking Bad, Emilia Clarke, Diana Rigg and Jeff Daniels.. I can't believe that Tatiana Maslany wasn't nominated..She definitely deserved it more than some of the people in that category. Also what the hell, no nominations for The Americans and Justified? Let's hope Breaking Bad gets all the awards..

    ReplyDelete
  27. /agree with everything EXCEPT GoT is hands-down the best show on TV right now and definitely above Mad Men & Breaking Bad.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm shocked that Justified didn't get a single nomination for what I thought was the best show of the year and I thought Jimmy Smits and Jim Beaver were locks for Guest Actor in a Drama. The Emmy voters need to look into separating the broadcast and cable categories. Maybe not for the acting categories but definitely Broadcast Drama and Cable Drama and Broadcast Comedy and Cable Comedy.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I live in the UK and know for a fact it is definitely not the best we've got, nor does it even come close to the best series in the world, that's just laughable!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think that if Jen Carpenter didn't get it for the phenomenal Season 7, she won't get it for this year, as phenomenal as she is. It's simply ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  31. That was my only hell yes moment when seeing the list

    ReplyDelete
  32. lol no game of thrones is not the best show on tv. you may prefer the genre of GoT to mad men and bb but the writing on Got is far shoddier, the pacing is horrible and a standard episode simply revolves around cutting from scene to scene. David and Dan do not seem to understand how to write for episodic television.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I like Emilia Clarke but I would have rather seen Michelle Fairley nominated.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Breaking Bad dominating like a boss.
    So good.

    ReplyDelete
  35. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-zrvLojzg8

Great that Emilia Clarke got a nomination she deserves, even though I expect Maggie Smith to win once again, not that it would make her not show up to the ceremony :D.

If there's not Emmy win written all over this scene for Glenn Close, then I don't know what she could have done. Oh, DirecTV probably didn't push the show, Glenn Close didn't parade around to get a nom and since all the voters are old, they forgot about Damages already.

I'm glad Netflix is getting recognition for Arrested Development and House of Cards, well deserved, and hopefully encouraging them to continue with great original series.

Showtime found a AHS loophole to get Laura Linney a final nomination for The Big C: Hereafter. If it were up to me, she'd be in the regular "best actress in a comedy" category, and she'd win, even if The Big C isn't actually a comedy, I know. Awesome for John Benjamin Hickey (Sean) who got one too!

Through Laura Dern, Enlightened got a nomination even though the show was ruthlessly cancelled (not that episode 2.08 can't act as a definite series finale, it can for the most part), I like that.

Louis CK is getting so many nominations. Not just for Louie, but also for his HBO special and even his SNL guest host appearance!

I'm surprised and delighted that Jonathan Bank, Breaking Bad's Mike, is getting an Emmy nomination.

"We had a good thing, you stupid son of a bitch, we had Fring. You could have shut your mouth and cooked and made as much money as you would have ever needed. But no, you just had to blow it up! You and your pride and your ego, you just had to be the man! If you’d done your job, known your place, we’d all be fine right now.

That scene was one of the best moments of the entire series. I remember getting chills when he got to "you, and your pride and your ego." Pure epicness.

    ReplyDelete
  36. They didn't nominate the final season though. It will be back next year for another ride.

    ReplyDelete
  37. too overrated actress. Scandal is much better than her acting. but it was obvious she was nominated after all the press she did.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well you're forgetting that Emmys are an American award, not a UK one. You're also forgetting that it's the only show of its type that has any sort of notoriety and recognition. I reiterate, it deserves every nomination it gets

    ReplyDelete
  39. No, I'm aware the Emmys are American, thanks. I just don't think Downton Abbey is good enough (anymore) to warrant the high number of nominations it has received.

And notoriety shouldn't get shows nominated, quality should. Alas, that doesn't really seem to be the case these days.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ugh, I'am royally pissed right now. How can you not nominate Tatiana Maslany, Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen, or AT LEAST Monica Porter?! It boggles my mind. So disappointed. But on the bright side, Kerry Washington got nominated! I do love her and hope she wins...

    ReplyDelete
  41. Indeed! I was expecting at least some nomination in the more "technical" categories

    ReplyDelete
  42. With Nikita heading into its final season, it's nice for the crew to get some recognition in the form of the Sound Editing nomination, even if it's a minor category (they were nominated for that two years ago as well). The episode that merited the nomination is an odd choice, though, I don't recall unusual music there, except for the creepy "cleaning" scene with the blood in the bathtub.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Amanda Mastropietro18 July 2013 at 17:09

I agree with you WarrenMax007. I said the same thing on my twitter account. It's always the same shows, actors, actresses, etc over and over again. No Justified? No Hannibal? No The Americans? No Walking Dead? I don't know who votes for these people, but I also feel some of the actors can take their ballots out of the running and let some new people get on the list finally. There are so many talented actors and great shows, but these award shows are so bogus.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Amanda Mastropietro18 July 2013 at 17:11

Yes. Tatiana Maslany from Orphan Black is incredible and not even nominated. WTF Emmy's?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Sound Design and Cinematography should have been a lock for Hannibal. Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Amanda Mastropietro18 July 2013 at 17:13

Emilia Clarke is okay in GoT, but IMHO I think there are much better actors out there right now. Kerri Russell from the Americans should have been nominated. She rocks! Tatiana Maslany also.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Amanda Mastropietro18 July 2013 at 17:13

Agreed! Hannibal is one of the best f'ing shows on right now. Mads, Hugh and even Fishburn should have been nominated.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Fuck the Emmys! I get that Castle doesn't fit properly in any category, but seriously, haven't they seen Stana's acting!? That woman is very good at what she does...

    ReplyDelete
  49. Absolutely! I think GoT is extremely overrated and, except for Peter Dinklage, most of the actors are mediocre/average. It only stands out in its scenaries and costumes, because the story itself and the way it is conducted (written and directed) is very poor and clichéd). It is far from the quality of shows like BrBa or Shameless (so very underrated, this one!) and their amazing actors. Such density and complexity in every single episode; they're each a work of art.

The comedy categories' nominees are also very poorly chosen! For instance, I don't think those MoFamily actors are that good and the show has lost much of is charm and originality since season 1.

Overall, it feels that quality, hard work and creativity were not the main criteria in the choosing of this year's nominees.

    ReplyDelete
  50. For me, the best actress of her category. She was absolutely brilliant in Bates Motel! But not sure her work will be recognized...

    ReplyDelete
  51. Totally agree! None of the actors stands out and the story has no longer any content..

    ReplyDelete
  52. I don't think she is that much talented...Just because people enjoyed the last 5 minutes of that episode (mostly due to how the director exposed the events), it doesn't mean she is emmy material. And neither is the writing of the episode, btw.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Only speaking of the Drama nominations as I never care about the Comedy....
Not a bad list at all!

I think Emilia Clarke getting a nomination is insane though. There are at least 5 other Supporting Actresses on Game of Thrones better than her...

Glenn Close not getting the nod is a surprise, but the women nominated are all good so Icannot complain much. Some years even great actors/ actresses get left out due to other great actors/ actresses getting nominated.

I love Orphan black, but I'm not surprised there were no Emmy love this year. The show was in that limbo time period and could not be nominated.... Honestly because of that I just expected Tatiana Maslany would miss out as well.Next year though there will be a better chance.

I think Justified was definitely good enough to deserve some Emmy love, but the other shows in the list are all great. So no complaints from me. Likewise, I would have personally nominated Walton Goggins, but all the Supporting Actors are great so it's just not his year.

I do not miss The Americans being nominated. I think it is equal to last year's Homeland. That is to say NOT deserving. A very good show, but not great. And if I one--to-one compare the actors and actresses of Homeland to The Americans, Homeland will come out on top every time!

Downton Abbey deserves every nomination it got. Period.
Some people have issues with the show or how it has declined in quality since the first year, but even at an admittedly lower quality Season 3 it was still better than most shows on TV.

HBO dominating the mini-series category is no surprise. They produce the best mini-series on TV and the crop this year was awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Amanda Mastropietro18 July 2013 at 17:38

Agreed. Stana is an amazing actor and better than a lot of these "actors" on these overpriced, overrated cable shows.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Is this the first Emmy-Nomination for a CW-Show (Nikita) ever?

    ReplyDelete
  56. What? No Orphan Black and no Sebastian Stan for Political Animals? I can't.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Emilia Clarke is far from the best actress in GoT imo, very odd choice!

    ReplyDelete
  58. She was easily one of the best lead actress in anything imo

    ReplyDelete
  59. Couldn't disagree with you more tbh

    ReplyDelete
  60. EuphemiaWonderland18 July 2013 at 18:32

It seems Emmy voters only watch 6 shows because the nominations barely changed. I can't believe Hannibal got snubbed like that. Also I can easily think 4 comidies that are a million times better than Girls.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Pablo Troncoso18 July 2013 at 18:33

I understand that Fringe wouldn't be nominated, but damn it! Jonh Noble should have made it to Outstanding Supporting ASctor!

    ReplyDelete
  62. what about NEW GIRL??? no nominations???

and I really wanted Nick Offerman in the Supporting Actor in Comedy!
ok we love Modern Family but it doen't need 3 nominations in every category for god's sake!

Please let the Office win for the Finale!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Very disappointed that Melissa McCarthy was overlooked in the Comedy Actress category and Mads was overlooked for Hannibal. Delighted for Kerry Washington, I think she's brilliant as Olivia Pope & Scandal was one of my favourite tv shows this year.

    ReplyDelete
  64. What? They have an Outstanding Commercial class now? Cool! I nominate any of the Allstate mayhem commercials. Hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Seriously the fact that SOA gets snubbed every year is disgraceful. It's one of the best shows on tv and the cast is phenomenal.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Once again the Emmys and I disagree a lot about what makes for good TV.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Offerman is very good! and so is Chris Pratt...

    ReplyDelete
  68. As with every year, for every annoying snub there is a fantastic surprise. Whilst I'm sad that the best performance by an actress in television in Tatiana Maslany wasn't nominated, I'm pretty sure her time will come, her buzz was just too late. Then you look at stuff like Breaking bad breaking through (sorry about that) in the writing categories, laura dern's nominations etc, and you can almost forgive the snubs.

Just remember, television is in its prime right now. There are 15-20 fantastic television shows all worthy of nominations, it's becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with all the great new shows being released. And with that, unfortunately, comes a lot of snubs. If you look at the drama series category and take out what IMO is the weakest of the nominees in Downton and you replace it with say.. The Americans, there are still a wealth of great shows not being nominated. Boardwalk Empire, Hannibal, Rectify (if you haven't seen it watch it), Dexter, Sons of Anarchy, the list goes on.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I agree Castle Grey's Anatomy even Revenge and those are just shows on ABC that have amazing Actress that seem to be over shadowed. I'm glad that Kerry was nominated but I think that if one of Shonda's shows was to be in it should be Grey's and Jessica Capshaw should be nominated for basically the whole season.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Amanda Mastropietro18 July 2013 at 20:18

I really need to make a little time and watch Scandal. I like Kerry Washington, but haven't had time to watch the show. I've heard great things about it.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I cannot take the Emmy's seriously anymore if they keep overlooking Jennifer Carpenter. I mean what more in the world does an actress have to do to get a f**king nomination?
And it's not like like Fringe with John and Anna where you could sort of "blame" it on the sci-fi element of the show, NO, Dexter is a DRAMA Series.
Besides to me it feels like every year most of the same is getting nominations and the same shows and actors are getting snubbed, almost as if those Academy people don't even watch everything

    ReplyDelete
  72. Really disappointed that they nominated Emilia Clarke and not Michelle Fairley!

    ReplyDelete
  73. indeed!!!! and Amy should get that Emmy!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Totally agree! Son of Anarchy is an amazing show. but the word Anarchy sounds really bad to the ears of every American award-giving academy! same on them!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Really happy to see her nom! Veras's performance in Bates Motel is amazing! she's a great actress!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Nicolás Festa18 July 2013 at 23:33

For some reason people can't be rational and agree that while a show might not be a pinnacle it could be enjoyable.
I enjoyed Supernatural even with it's poor acting, for example.
GoT is a so-so show with a huge budget and production.
Shameless is a show that can make you cry one moment and seconds later making you LOL. When Amy Rossum is in front of the judges and says "i just want to give this children the life they deserve"... That scene was so amazing... THE EMMYS ARE PURE MARKETING...

    ReplyDelete
  77. Yuliya Grinberg19 July 2013 at 02:06

Jake Johnson from New Girl was seriously snubbed. That was the best male comedy performance I saw last year. Easily. I would have nominated Jake instead of Matt or Jason. It was his best season.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I love Peter, but this was Nikolaj's year.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Agreed! Not to diss Emilia who does do a stellar job, but what Tatiana did in Orphan Black was nowhere near that calibre.

    ReplyDelete
  80. There are a finite number of nominations to give out. So there's always someone who deserves a nominations who doesn't get it. It's unfortunate but it's just the reality.

    ReplyDelete
  81. So saddened about the lack of recognition for Hannibal, Hugh Dancy, and Jennifer Carpenter.
