Season 2 of Defiance will see the introduction of Mayor Niles Pottinger. He is the new mayor of Defiance and was appointed by the Earth Republic, a nascent empire. He is from the UK which was devastated during the pale wars.

    I am delighted. The idea of listening to Datak speechify for an entire season was far too much to bear. I like how he lost power just as quickly as he probably stole it.

    I wonder what will happen when Irisa, who currently hates the Earth Republic, becomes super powerful. Will she decimate them? Are we talking full out war or a quieter rebellion turned revolution?

    He's a very popular character so unless the actor has gotten a better offer, I don't see them killing him off so quickly.

    Maybe a bit of both? Build up forces within and outside Defiance. Then attack simultaneously, similar to freeing New Caprica on Battlestar Galactica.

    So glad Datak isn't the mayor for long....I could not watch this show with him bring in charge with viper wife in the background for an entire season.
