Arrow - Season 2 - Latest from Comic-Con

BROKEN CITY | The destructive events of last season’s finale will still be felt all these months later. “Some people have worked out their stuff, others haven’t,” shared Kreisberg. That includes Laurel, who has “done her mourning and grieving and she’s trying to move forward in any she can,” but “as much as she loves Oliver, she also loved Tommy,” Cassidy explained. The actress also teased that her onscreen counterpart “starts to kick some butt.”

ROY’S SPEEDY FUTURE |
“Season 2 can be almost like an island to Roy like it was to Oliver,” Haynes said. “He’s going to have to realize he’s not as big of a badass as he thinks he is.” He also needs to win over Oliver as Thea’s boyfriend, which is “going to take some time.”

Really excited about Laurel tidbits we got in this. It seems that she will take more active role and start going down the path she is supposed to go down towards, with this new girl being basically her Yao Fei - someone who wears similar outfit, but in the end is nothing more than someone who inspires her to take up the role.

Oh My God! Take this mentor character and have her suffer serious injury that leaves her in a wheelchair and you have this show's Oracle(since they obviously can't add batgirl)!

  2. Maybe they will do that..

  3. It will be interesting seeing the evolution in all these characters. Especially Oliver realizing that the city needs a hero.

Hopefully John Barrowman will be back!

  4. I kinda like Thea being in charge of the Nightclu, overall I'm just really digging these new positions they are putting the characters, with a damaged Starling city as the backdrop. Really excited for season 2!

  5. I don't really like the idea of her being in charge of the night club because I think this means she'll soon find her brother's secret. It will be good though to see a more mature version of Thea.

  6. - No mention of Walter is disheartening.
    - If Barrowman comes back I'm almost willing to guarantee it'll only be flashbacks.
    - Is it wrong that every time I see or read about Roy I instantly start to tune out?
    - Even though it's unrealistic, I'm okay with Thea running the club. Although, I can't figure out why.

Because it's a way to redeem Thea? At this point, she's just a self-centered whiny teenager.

I'm disappointed there are no Felicity spoilers in the midst of the Laurel/Roy/Thea/new cast members. Team Arrow is the best part of the show for me.

  8. Arrow started to effectively address Thea's behavior toward the end of the season. They did a good job of mellowing her out. She'll always be outspoken but I don't think that "self-centered whiny teenager" accurately describes her in the last third of season one.

I agree that the lack of info regarding Felicity having her own subplot(s) is disappointing. In fact, I'd say the same goes for Diggle too. Team Arrow is without a doubt my main interest on the show as well.

  9. Well this is awesome article and it looks like the series has very bright future and i hope to see more of it. And great to see awesome actress like Summer Glau here and i hope that she is not just another passing person in the series.

  10. With Oliver being in charge of QC maybe Thea stepped in to run the club since there is no Tommy anymore and Oliver won't be able to do it. She's 18, maybe she finally wants to get a handle of her life and be around the Glades.

They didn't mention at CC but Marc did say that they'd address Felicity's backstory throughout the season

Yeah, I think I remember something about that as well. Thanks for the reminder.

  12. He mentioned it today on twitter (or maybe it was ArrowWriters).

  13. How can an 18 year old be running a night club? Especially one that is in the Glades and whose family must be universally hated by everyone there. I imagine Roy will have some flack dating the girl whose family helped take out the Glades as well. Love the idea of him taking a more active role in vigilantism though. I also love the idea of Moira getting a redemption story line. I would not like to have her dropped off in prison and forgotten about.

  14. The bigger problem is that Thea is a Queen and the nightclub is in the Glades. I can't imagine anyone there being a big fan of anyone named Queen. Add to it that she is not even old enough to legally be in the bar area and I'd say this story line is very hard to believe.

  15. I didn't see the tweet but, after reading your comment, I recalled that either Guggenheim or Kreisberg said something along those same lines back when Rickards was announced as a regular for season two.

  16. I find the idea that Oliver is taking over the company very telling. I am mentally preparing myself for a Walter-less season and it makes me sad.

  17. Thea became more than a "self-centered whiny teenager" halfway through the season when the writers finally got a grasp on her character and stopped flip flopping her every episode. I think the nightclub thing is more likely because age-wise she would have finished high school and should be going off to college. Since there would be little intersection between Thea: The College Years and Oliver's crusade, they needed to find a way to tie Thea more closely into Oliver's world and thus not waste Willa Holland's acting skills. Of course an 18 year old nightclub manager makes absolutely no sense either unless it becomes an under 21 club and even that is pushing it.

  18. She's too young to run a club period, but my guess is that they are doing it in Tommy's memory as a memorial to him. I kind of like that idea.

  19. The more I read about what the producers have planned for season two and how practically everyone's roles seem to be expanding the more it seems likely that Walter is being edged out.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Depending on the state, U21 individuals can work at such clubs but they can't have anything to do with alcohol. Running a club is a different story. It's not realistic but, as I mentioned earlier, I'm willing to go with it and see what happens.

  21. I fear it is going to bug me unless they find a way to plausibly address it. However my happiness of an expanding Thea role (as I hope this means) should balance the implausibility for me.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well the actor is in another show so maybe they found the timing wasn't feasible anymore or maybe he can't work the schedule until later in the season. Either way, less Walter and some casting choices are the only bad things I've heard about season 2. That's not a bad way to start the season.

  23. Yeah, I have the same problem with her running the club and I live in a country where it's legal to drink from 18 onward..

  24. Colin Salmon's new show's pilot was filmed right next door to Arrow, and he actually filmed his scenes on episode 1.22 while filming that pilot. I expect him to show up eventually but I think he'll arrive to testify against Moira during her trial.

  25. Also, Geoff Johns said in an interview to GreenArrowTV after episode 1.16 that they have a plan for Felicity's background, so whatever her background is, the showrunners planned it in advance and talked to DC writers about it.

  26. It would be wrong to blame Moira and the Queens for everything, y'know.. I'm sure people will do it because Malcolm is dead and so is Tommy, but I do think of her as a victim.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I doubt people care about Moira's reasons when they are burying their dead loved ones.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Well at least there is hope for an appearance then. That's something. Although I would prefer he have some good scenes with Thea instead of being in a courtroom.
