Netflix Inc. (NFLX), the largest subscription video-streaming service, is in talks for another season of “Arrested Development,” said Brian Grazer, co-chairman of the production company, Imagine Entertainment.

“We are in conversations with them to do another,” Grazer said in an interview yesterday with Bloomberg Television at the Allen & Co. conference in Sun Valley, Idaho. “They are interested in doing that.”

  3. Hopefully they can shoot from March - July and avoid everyone's work commitments I.e Will Arnett's new show. Would love to have the whole cast back for each episode now we've caught up! :D

  6. This time make it for real, with all the cast available for the full season. Season 4 was a nice experiment, but the first 3 were on another level.

There has never been any doubt that Netflix wants more Arrested Development. There's no such thing as a renewal in this case. If the entire cast has an open schedule, and if Hurwitz realizes that he'll have time to do 65 seasons before the movie gets made, then it'll happen, no question about it. It's like HBO's relationship with Curb your Enthusiasm, or FX's with Louie apparently.

We have to understand, most of the cast of AD have commitments :

Portia de Rossi has to film the Better Off Ted movie.
Michael Cera has to film Scott Pilgrim vs. the Galaxy.
Jeffrey Tambor has to the film the final Hellboy movie.
Will Arnett has to film the Up All Night reunion special (he was rooting for it).

Okay, they have commitments I want them to be having :D (except the Up All Night reunion special, not sure it'd be such a good idea, as the show could turn into a Mexican soap-opera before you know it).

Luckily actors can work around films schedules, it's TV shows the one that are difficult to deal with, as the contract really binds them. Tony Hale, who is currently starring on Veep, is the one who has the tightest schedule due to his work on Veep, that's why he was one of the least seen characters in S4.
Will Arnet will be tough too, as he is currently filming the Greg Garcia pilot and might be tied up to that project for who knows how long. Up all Night, sadly, is dead; NBC decided to just spare it after Christina left the show and cancelled it.
I'm sure there will be a way to work around all the schedules troubles, AD S5 is probably a go

  11. Season 4 was barely watchable! There were way too little of Maeby and the concept of doing a small story and do it in different characters point of view. It kept recapping and recapping! S1-3 Were great if they do something like that it would be great, but after S5 please no S6 and so a movie instead!!!

  12. After the cliffhanger it was pretty expected there'd be another season or a movie following it up, so I'm glad we're getting another season. I enjoyed Season 4, not nearly as much as previous seasons, but hopefully they'll have the episodes structured more like Seasons 1-3 with the cast together as opposed to brief glimpses of their interactions.

  13. I heard the creator envisioned Season 4 as Act 1, Season 5 as Act 2, and then a movie would be the 3rd and final act. Who knows if that will be how it goes down, but it'd be interesting.

  14. Agree that it wasn't as good as the first 3, but I feel that with the time gap, it was the best way to approach the story.
