Scene Of The Week - June 9, 2013 - *POLL*

9 Jun 2013

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great scenes that we've seen recently.

BABY DADDY, "There's Something Fitchy Going On", June 5, 2013, Actors: Chelsea Kane, Derek Theler
The Scene: Riley hears Danny's message
Klutzy Girl:
Riley hears Danny's accidental message and finally realizes how he feels about her. The scene hurt so much and I'm excited to see where they go from here.

CONTINUUM, "Second Truths", June 2, 2013, Actors: Rachel Nichols, Victor Webster
The Scene: The last one
Justyna Kubica:
I'm so glad that Carlos finally knows the truth. Now the two can really start trusting each other like equal partners. This was a very satisfying but also quite painful scene to watch. Kiera almost died minutes earlier and she realized that if she did, everything she's done would mean nothing, she'd just disappear without anyone noticing it. Really an awful thing to learn. It's good to have a friend to help you with something so powerful like that.
Another scene with a great performance by Rachel Nichols and also Victor Webster. So many possibilities has opened now when Carlos knows the truth, I can't wait to see what's next!
Pascal Buijnsters: Carlos learns the truth about Kiera, after dismissing her for crazy earlier in the episode when she tells him she's a timetraveler, he sees some convincing evidence which pushes him to see the truth. Quoting Spock about 'the improbably must be the truth' and then asking her to tell him everything. Great scene!

GAME OF THRONES, "The Rains of Castamere", June 2, 2013, Actors: Richard Madden, Michelle Fairley, Oona Chaplin, David Bradley, Michael McElhatton & Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Art Parkinson, Natalia Tena
The Scenes: The Red Wedding & Bran and Rickon say goodbye
Sandi:
The whole episode was fantastic with many scenes that could have qualified, but I'm going with the predictable one rather than my second favourite of Arya and the Hound. As a reader of the books I knew what was coming, yet it was still shocking. The added death of Robb's wife was brutal and Cat pleading with Walder Frey was gut wrenching to watch!
Jamie Coudeville: It's been a while since I've been this shocked at something that happened on a tv show. I'm still not over it. Can' wait to see the finale!
Sharon Seymour: Powerful and painful to watch.
Pascal Buijnsters: Shocking. Brutal. I'm still processing what happened. I haven't read the books, I've managed to stay clear from spoilers and it came as a total shock.
Justyna Kubica: I'm not going with the Red Wedding. It's a very huge, powerful and very brutal scene, but it does not make it the greatest or favorite in my opinion. It's beyond painful to watch something so horrible happening and I have no intentions to watch it again, but I'm really going to miss poor Robb, Talisa and even Catelyn (incredible performance by Michelle Fairley by the way!).
My pick is the scene where two little Starks, Bran and Rickon have to say goodbye. I have to admit, I've always felt very protective when it comes to Bran after his fall (still not over it Jaime!) and I'm really excited to learn more about his powers. What he did with Hodor (and then to help Jon) was easily the highlight of the episode for me! But it's the part where the last two Stark siblings who were still together have to separate that really got to me. What a nice change to see Rickon actually having a longer dialogue and to hear these little boys both trying to save and protect each other. Poor things! And then when Osha's leaving with Rickon she says what's one of my favorite quotes: “Keep this one safe. He means the world to me.” I can't express how much I need these two and really all of the remaining Starks to find each other again.

HANNIBAL, "Rôti", June 6, 2013, Actors: Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen, Raúl Esparza
The Scenes: Will has a seizure & Doctor Chilton has his organs removed
Veronika K & Sharon Seymour:
Will has a seizure and Hannibal lies to him.
DarkUFO: Doctor Chilton has his organs removed whilst being fully conscious.

MAD DOGS, "Episode 1", June 4, 2013, Actor: Marc Warren
The Scene: Rick at the air strip
Sandi:
More people need to watch this Sky One show, after a shaky end to S2 it's definitely back with a punch. Rick running after Woody's taxi was emotional, though my Marc Warren crush might be a little biased here. But my favourite bit was when he turned round and saw the African Witch Doctor type figure waving at him...can't wait to see what that's all about, the next time trailer was certainly intriguing and it's left me very impatient for next weeks episode.

REVOLUTION, "The Dark Tower", June 3, 2013
The Scene: Power goes back on
Jamie Coudeville:
I've been waiting for this all season. Can't wait for season 2!
Klutzy Girl: That was a great scene and I can't wait to see where they go from here.
Pascal Buijnsters: The most powerful (no pun intended) moment of a finale that felt a bit off. The 'Fallout'-esque reveal of the president being behind it was great.
Also picked by DarkUFO & Sharon Seymour

TEEN WOLF, "Tattoo", June 3, 2013, Actors: Tyler Posey, Tyler Hoechlin
The Scenes: Elevator fight & The one with the birds
Jamie Coudeville:
I've missed this show. Loved this fight, both Scott and Derek were awesome.
Klutzy Girl: The scene with the birds was really creepy and awesome at the same time. Plus, it's a pattern now and shows that something is definitely wrong in Beacon Hills.

  7. The Red Wedding (obviously), Bran and Rickon say goodbye, and Will having a seizure. All three of those scenes just killed me.

  8. I didn't make it on time, but mine are:

    1. GOT - Red Wedding
    2. Revolution - Bass and Miles are being chase by helicopter and run parallel through the woods.
    3. Hannibal - Hannibal lies to Will about Will's state of reality, when Will brings Dr. Gideon to Hannibal's house.

    4. Mad Men - Don's "jumping off point" was nearly drowning in the pool.

  9. The Red Wedding is this years Battle of Blackwater it seems, brilliant scene in a fantastic episode!!

I had to mention Mad Dogs in my picks above mainly because I was impressed and happy that the show has come back with a strong opening episode. I've been watching Hustle with a mate recently so my Marc Warren obsession (thanks for the pic Justine!) had made me nervous that they wouldn't be able to maintain the awesomeness that was season 1.

  10. Would vote for both if I could, the red wedding and Hannibal (Will having a seizure)

  11. My favourite scenes this week were the Red Wedding and Hannibal, when Will has a seizure.

  13. Red Wedding. It's one of the most memorable TV scenes I've ever seen. It was brutal, horrible and so heartwretching, that's for sure. But that doesn't change the fact that it was The Scene of the week, or even a year.

  14. Teen Wolf - elevator fight. Teen Wolf continues to produce top notch fight scenes and a fast-moving plot. Exactly what I'm looking for.

  15. Obviously I'm gonna be the only one to say this (as I don't watch other cable channels and all of my network shows are on hiatus) but on the new ABC Family show "The Fosters" I kinda liked the dinner scene when Callie was first there. Some of the comments she made and the kids' correcting her felt very realistic. Especially the "real kid" comment: I have two adopted cousins and they are just much my real cousins as the ones who are blood-related.

  16. I actually agree with you! I loved that scene.

  17. Oh okay :D

  18. Game Of Thrones! The whole episode was EPIC! But Oh,that Red Wedding did me in!!

Revolution! After a horrible 1st half and a god awful long hiatus,it came back swinging, and i loved each episode. The last 2 episodes were perfect and it wound up setting it up nicely for S2.Texas here we come!

And People If you haven't watched ''The Fall" with Jamie Dornan and Gillian Anderson you are missing a insanely fabulous show.S1 has only 5 episodes and it is showing on NETFLIX NOW!! Run don't walk,i promise its worth it,,,,,

  19. 1) Will has a melt down and seizure. Hugh Dancy completely blew me away during the whole scene. When he whimpered "Please don't lie to me" to Hannibal, for the first time i truly HATED Hannibal Lector, which was shocking seeing as I've always loved and routed for the character in the movies(i don't wanna know what that says about me lol). Even the guy playing the killer was good, just sitting there, wondering what in the hell was going on when Hannibal said, "There's no one there,Will" i actually want them to catch Hannibal at this point, even though i know they won't b/c they have a second season, just so Will can be free.

    2) Ms. McCall takes Scott out of school so he can help Isaac. I really don't know why this resonated with me so strongly. Yes Isaac is my favorite character, but it's not just that. I guess i really wasn't sure how much having her know would actually help, seeing as she's a mother first. However when Isaac is in trouble and she can't get a hold of Derek, she pulls Scott without hesitation, even if she does giving him a motherly warning when he gets there. I think it's just i didn't expect it. Also, i can see her going to Derek and asking him about werewolf physiology, thus becoming the go-to person for the packs should they get injured. Just sayin'...
