Loretta Devine, star of Lifetime's The Client
List , and Peggy Lipton , best known for The
Mod Squad , have joined the season eight cast
of the long-running comedy, The Hollywood
Reporter has learned.
In the fifth episode, Devine will play "foxy" Melba Birdson, a former back-up singer for 1960s sensation Myles Valour Jr. Lassie (Timothy Omundson ) tracks her down in a desperate attempt to gain information on a cold case from 1967 and finds her still performing after all these years.
In the same hour, Lipton will portray Scarlet Jones, reliving her days as the main squeeze of notorious mob boss Rodney Caruso. As Lassie begins to dig around a cold case involving the late Archie Baxter, he turns to Scarlett for information on Archie's supper club, where Myles' songs were regular fixtures and the line between cops and criminals were blurred.

Woo hoo. I like Loretta Devine and it will be interesting to see Peggy Lipton after all these years. Too bad it's only a guest star position instead of recurring. As long as Loretta Devine keeps getting steady work, she won't be able to return to Supernatural. Win-win.
