Doctor Who - Rory Kinnear as Twelfth Doctor Rumour *Updated*

Someone who appears to know Rory Kinnear has tweeted this

When Matt Smith announced last weekend that he would bow out as Doctor Who in the Christmas special, many fans hoped that the BBC would use the opportunity to replace him with a woman or a black actor.

They are, however, likely to be disappointed, as Mandrake can disclose that the role of the 12th Time Lord has been offered to Rory Kinnear.

“He has been offered the part and we are waiting to hear if he will accept,” says my man in the Tardis. “He is the perfect choice.”

When he was asked about rumours linking him with the Doctor Who role in April, he admitted that he had never watched the programme. “I think I’m being used as a decoy on that front,” he said. “It’s the first I’ve heard.”

  1. I'm assuming this is the Sunday paper piece that sparked the BBC announcement rumour for yesterday, and as they didn't rush out a statement I'm assuming that this is false tbh. Which is a shame, cos he'd be one of my picks if I was in Moff's place.

  3. Sam Troughton for Master :)

  4. He'd make a good timelord - either good or bad.(a male Rani?) Plus it isn't like he doesn't have the pedigree.

  11. fuck u if its this guy, i don't hate em, i saw him skyfall, he was cool, but knowing uk goes for that natural look, i don't want another series to go down because of the baldness like Zero Hour, but then again Zero Hour sucked ass but if it didn't suck it would have sucked because of lead later. and don't say im racist against bald, because i a fucking bald.

  12. i see propaganda going on here deleting comments that has a bad word in it rather then censoring it.

  13. I could never get behind Matt Smith as the Doctor for a number of reasons. Firstly, I loved both and especially David Tennant far too much (the Tenth even replaced my childhood favourite Fourth). Plus, the original actor (William Hartnell) died a year before I was born (and was born 58 years beforehand) while Matt Smith is 6 years younger than I am. It was just too weird.

But the last reason, and not the least by any means, is that someone early on suggested that the Eleventh Doctor be the first black one... when even the President of the US is black (or "self-identifying as black" half-and-half), then why didn't they choose stupendous actor (and early-rumoured) Chiwetel Ejiofor? (see Kinky Boots, and Serenity!!!). I must admit that spoiled me for liking any one else... and now he's on the hot list again! I've all my fingers and toes crossed on this one guys... and will even deign to watch Matt Smith's stint once Mr. Ejiofor takes the reins...

Once I can steel myself to watching Mr. Tennant's exit (I couldn't bear to watch, so haven't o.O )

  14. So, you disliked Matt Smith as the Doctor because he's younger than you and he's not Chiwetel Ejiofor?

And nothing, in fact, to do with his portrayal of the Doctor?

    Alright then...

  15. I wouldn't bother ever watching 10 regeneration, the episode is awful and his goodbye line made me puke a lil :s :(

  16. I don't blame him. It was shameful, horrendous, self-indulgent writing.
