  1. None, this season has been a trainwreck, I almost stopped watching TV.

definitely a tie between arrow, orphan black, revolution and defiance. love those four shows. but if i had to pick one i would pick orphan black. love the premise and suspense.

  3. If these are my options, I'll have to go with Orphan Black. Even though I haven't watched it yet. Revolution, Defiance and Arrow were all disappointing.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I think Arrow is the most well-honed and entertaining show of the list, but not really all that Sci-Fi in my opinion,...

I chose Orphan Black for that reason.Great little show that highlight a relatively unknown actress who is doing amazingly well at playing more than 3 unique roles! Plus there is conspiracy, clones and sado-masochistic killers protected by a secret society! What's not to love? XD

  5. Arrow, hands down. My favorite new show.

    ReplyDelete
  6. It has a surprising amount of humor too!

    ReplyDelete
  7. I gave all of them a try, and Orphan Black is the only one I'm still watching. It definitely hooked me!

  8. Orphan Black without a doubt. It's not just the best new Sci-Fi show, it's one of the best shows to debut in years. Anyone who isn't watching it, should get on that now. It's amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Her acting is... superb. Where has she been hiding?! The show, so far, hasn't put a foot wrong either. I cannot fault it.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Beauty and the Beast

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hiding in Canada! XD

I have seen Tatiana Maslany in 2 other Canadian productions the last year or so, World Without End and Cracked. Plus she had a run on Being Erica (another Canadian show) a few years ago.

Most of her IMDB credits are Canadian shows from what I recognize. So just has not done as much on the US networks evidently.

  12. Orphan Black!

  13. Arrow, that's not even a question ;)

    ReplyDelete
  14. Arrow for me, haven't seen orphan black yet, but from the sounds of it I really should.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I voted Defiance. It is the best of the very few actual sci-fi shows on tv in the last year.

Orphan Black would be my second pick. Supposedly sci-fi, but other than seeing a bunch of presumed clones, there has been no actual sci-fi in the show.

None of the rest are worth watching, though I do continue to watch some of them. Luckily, next season is looking to be packed with genre shows, so I will get to be much more picky about what shows I watch.

  16. You should definitely give it a try sometime! It's surprisingly addictive and exciting! And also, the only show on this list that hasn't dissapointed me ;)

  17. One show missing from this list is Primeval: New World, which I enjoyed more than most of the shows on this list.

    Arrow hands down.

I never imagined that CW could actually produce a show that is actually awesome, intriguing.and consistent.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I have seen none of those but, actually, I would happily go back and watch any show I've missed with her in it. Her performance in OB is perfection.

    What else is Canada hiding?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Out of those shows Beauty and the Beast is the only one I watch.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Beauty and the Beast, never been this in love with a show!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm planning on it! I've heard a lot of great things about that show. It's just that I'm watching so many shows already (and yes, downvoters, I do still watch the shows I mentioned) that I haven't found the time for it yet.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Defiance, simple because instead of compromising and/or trying to cater for a teenage audience it stayed true to it's genre and started out pretty strong.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Definately Orphan Black... great acting & great writing.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Haha, same. I waited five weeks after I downloaded the Pilot to finally check it out, and then the others all the same evening.
Sometimes I wish we had more hours in a day just so I could watch everything properly. :P

    ReplyDelete
  26. Partly agree...Revolutions rocks....on the contrary beauty and the beast sucks

    ReplyDelete
  27. I've heard Orphan Black is good, but I've never seen it, so I voted Arrow :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. ''...the best *NEW* sci-fi/fantasy series...'' :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Beauty and the Beast is Addictive!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yes, i realized afterwards.I do have down Orphan Black!

    ReplyDelete
  31. 1.Orphan Black (One of the best sci-fi I have seen in while. It's has great twisty-turny plots and every clone is fantastic!)

2.Revolution (It's sci-fi elements have been on the down low, but are present. It's genre bending and not exclusively sci-fi)

I would Imagine Arrow would make my list if I had watched it yet, but I haven't. Not sure if I like Defiance either.

Honorable Mention: Fringe's Final season was GREAT! It will surely be missed. But next year I think I will have 5 or 6 more sci-fi-ish shows added to the mix: Under the Dome, Almost Human, Believe (my tread into fantasy), Helix, The 100, and possibly Intelligence (not sure where the genre-lines are on this one), and may check out Star Crossed (only because I like some of the writers other work). But it looks like we will have more to compete with next year and I think that's fantastic!!!!!!XD

    ReplyDelete
  32. Definitely Orphan Black! But I still haven't seen Hemlock Grove. I was either too disappointed or got bored with the others.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think it's great! It somehow manages to be both suspenseful but really fun! I'm looking forward to tonight's episode! I'm so glad I get BBC America! It's def science fiction I have been looking for since the loss of FRINGE, as Revolution is trying balance those elements with utopia/wilderness and pre-tech war/action adventure concepts and we haven't really made any technological break through's plot-wise only really small bits of stuff, so it's easy to forget that there are science fiction elements, even though I think the finale will change that.

  34. Not true. Cosima is a science major and just visited a neurologist's lecture on plans for the future. Additionally Sarah has had "tests" done to her while she sleeps and Paul also works for some weird tech company. The there is the nightmare that is Helena clearly something went wrong there. The character's are pretty sure they are part of an experiment and based on what the guys Paul work's for has said, we do not their "subjects", because of how he instructs Paul to deal with 'Beth', implying an empirical approach towards their analysis.

I would agree that the conspiracy aspect has been the bigger drive, but no doubt, as we are introduced to more characters and companies, it's obvious that it has to amount to something.

  35. Beauty & the Beast all in for me

    ReplyDelete
  36. Agreed! :)

Orphan Black and Arrow... Defiance is also good but not that great...

  38. lostrocks4ever11 May 2013 at 16:34

Arrow. No question. So incredible. Never fails to impress week after week. Especially with the incredibly choreographed fight scenes

    ReplyDelete
  39. Beauty & The Beast! Love Cat/Vincent's relationship & love the whole story of Murfield trying to hunt Vincent down. I also love Arrow too though!

    ReplyDelete
  40. In the episode she's in of th show Cracked she plays a really fun role that shows off her talent too. A teen girl with mental health issues . It could easily have been an audition for Orphan Black I thought when I watched it! XD

    ReplyDelete
  41. lol your opinion is worth how much?

    ReplyDelete
  42. CSI has scientists, that doesn't make it sci-fi, so Cosima being a college student certainly means nothing. The lecture was a bit sci-fi-ish, but it was all just talk. Being abducted and having a blood sample taken is not sci-fi. A psychotic girl killing people is not sci-fi. The supposed clones are being observed by some organization. Creepy? Yes. Sci-fi? No.

Right now Person of Interest is more sci-fi than Orphan Black.

I assume there will be more sci-fi coming, but right now everything on the show can be easily explained with current technology.

All that said, I do enjoy the show and look forward to how it unfolds.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Cosima'a name is a female equivalent "Cosmo" and pun on Cosmic.(playing to evolution). She currently the strongest lead into helping the others "understand" what they are, "clones", which then makes it VERY sci-fi since (as far as the public knows) isn't possible or the norm for human's yet.

As I said, I agree the conspiracy -criminal element is leading, but that is also what makes it science fiction-the association with a conspiracy in relation to advanced technology, which we are also introduced two by Paul's boss and the Neurologist.

We haven't seen the tech outside the clones and possibly Keira's ability (paranormal?) to know the difference. But the allusions are strong enough to give it a sci-fi feel.

It's true Helena by herself wouldn't appear sci-fi, but she isn't by her self, she's a counter part to at least 8 other women.

    From Wiki:
Science fiction is difficult to define, as it includes a wide range of subgenres and themes. Author and editor Damon Knight summed up the difficulty, saying "science fiction is what we point to when we say it",[6] a definition echoed by author Mark C. Glassy, who argues that the definition of science fiction is like the definition of pornography: you don't know what it is, but you know it when you see it.[7] Vladimir Nabokov argued that if we were rigorous with our definitions, Shakespeare's play The Tempest would have to be termed science fiction.[8]
According to science fiction writer Robert A. Heinlein, "a handy short definition of almost all science fiction might read: realistic speculation about possible future events, based solidly on adequate knowledge of the real world, past and present, and on a thorough understanding of the nature and significance of the scientific method."[9] Rod Serling's definition is "fantasy is the impossible made probable. Science fiction is the improbable made possible."[10] Lester del Rey wrote, "Even the devoted aficionado—or fan—has a hard time trying to explain what science fiction is", and that the reason for there not being a "full satisfactory definition" is that "there are no easily delineated limits to science fiction.

  44. Definitely more worthy than a sad little girl who can't accept that people hate her precious little show. Stop stalking people, freak.

And lmao @ batb winning this. Their fans have no life. It's the worst show I've seen on tv in years.

    ReplyDelete
  45. What is obvious is how much Batb is awful and Arrow is overrated.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Beauty and the Beast has it all. It's fast-paced and full of surprises. Never disappoints.

    ReplyDelete
  47. For me, Arrow by a long shot. Then Defiance which has a lot of promise. I tried Revolution and batb and couldn't get into them and the rest I haven't seen

    ReplyDelete
  48. There has been no proof that they are clones. They probably are, but they could just be octuplets separated at birth for all we really know.

What did Paul's boss do with advanced tech? I must not be remembering the scene.

    ReplyDelete
  49. To me it's an easy question #BATB if U want to know more about it Watch thursday on CW at 8/9

    ReplyDelete
  50. No advanced tech has been shown. What I am saying about Paul's boss is that his interest in monitoring 'Beth' is scientific in nature paving to sci-fi themes, especially because the company is a "tech" company.

They could be octuplets, but I'm pretty sure BBC America has labeled it science fiction, whci would suggest the clone route is more likely the case.

What seperates it from something line CSI is that is not procederal and because of the why mystery and suspence are created are remincent of more recant science fiction works. Even Children of Men isn't laced with lots of futuristic tech, but is still considered science fiction and dystopian and futuristic.

  51. I agree with what all you say there, so that seems a good place to leave it.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I loved Hemlock Grove! I hope there is a season 2!
    I never bothered w/Beauty.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Arrow definitely the best... daylight, then Revolution and Defiance.

Surprised at the Beauty and the Beast love.. I'm assuming the romance plot is what most tune in for.

    ReplyDelete
  54. no is not just the romance ( of course we like it).... but there is a lot of action going on in the last 10 episodes..it's very intense now...you should give it a try if haven't ..maybe you 'll like it ...it airs at thursday 9/8c .. it's the season finale and it looks awesome :) :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Beauty and the Beast.I do like the chemistry between Jay and Kristin. But Austin Basis cracks me up all the time. His one liners are so funny. Now we are heading to some secrets of the Cat"s family. The plots is getting so good .

    ReplyDelete
  56. Beauty & the Beast started off weak but has become one of my favorite series this season.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Orphan Black is on BBC America on Saturdays. It is about directed evolution group which ended up creating at least 10 clones in their mid 20's. There is one Crazy clone believes she is on a mission from god to kill all the other clones. It is a great show.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Actually the labs in the police should have been able to spot siblings. They do not have the same fingerprints. Identical prints are available thus identical genetic copies thus Clones.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hemlock Grove is a tough sled but eventually it comes together.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Technically, clones wouldn't have identical fingerprints either. That's bad science on the show's part but something I can easily overlook given how amazing it is.

    ReplyDelete
  61. BATB for sure! It has a perfect balance between action, drama, romance, & humor.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Beauty and the Beast!!! Ii's great! <3 <3 <3

    ReplyDelete
  63. Best series? That's easy: Beauty and the Beast <3 <3 <3

    ReplyDelete
  64. I am wondering why you believe that clones would not have the same fingerprints?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Really? It's science.

DNA is a set of blueprints that use mathematical algorithms, which have a certain amount of randomness. Identical DNA doesn't give you an identical person.

Fingerprints are unique. They cannot be replicated. Obviously this is sci-fi so there may be a reason we don't know yet but, as it stands, clones wouldn't have identical fingerprints. It's bad science.

    ReplyDelete
  66. 1.Orphan Black - one of the best scifi shows, I've seen in a while. Intriguing plot and a phenomenal lead actress!
    2. Arrow - you just have to love it!

    ReplyDelete
  67. What fact are you referring? All I see is supposition. No real facts. So again you are assuming facts which are not in evidence. There has been no animal cloned which contained fingerprints. So you are extrapolating from unclear data.

    ReplyDelete
  68. The facts are very clear - that clones do not share identical DNA. Thus, why would you assume fingerprints to be identical? You're guessing at things that *could* be, while I'm using the facts as we know them.

It's a moot point now though as Orphan Black has backtracked and said the fingerprints aren't identical - just similar.

    ReplyDelete
  69. By far Arrow!
