1. Knocking her mom on her ass for interfering isn't almost killing her. In fact, I'd say it was an appropriate reaction to being ambushed and drugged by your own vampire mother.
2. Bonnie didn't set up any witches. She thought she was meeting one witch and she met her to cleanse herself of expression.
That's not how I remember the first scene, but the second bit is definitely false. She knew flat out that there were going to be twelve, that they were going to link their powers so if one died, they all died.
Just queued up the episode and watched the scene in question. She didn't know there would be twelve. She asked Aja (an acquaintance of Bonnie's mom) if it was just her she was meeting in the woods. She asked because she was concerned Aja couldn't cleanse her by herself because of how strong her expression was.
Mystic Falls (much like Sunnydale) just can't catch a break! Maybe they can get a product placement worthy app for it instead? Or they can ask their car's GPS if Silas is around. The moment that I am waiting for most however is when Silas, who has been out of it for a looong time, picks up the latest smart phone and knows what he's doing *cough Klaus*.
I vote for RFID chips implanted under the skin with corresponding GPS phone apps. That way you know the exact location of your friends at all times simply by looking at the tracking app on your phone.
How is Bonnie stupid? Was she stupid when she was able to dessicate Klaus? Was she stupid when she body swapped Klaus, so that your faves could live? Was she stupid when she trapped Klaus in the house? Was she stupid when killed herself to try to save her best friend? She has saved the town and all of her friends more times than I care to count. You have no idea what Bonnie is trying to do or what her plan is because it hasn't been revealed. Bonnie is trying to stop Silas, that much has been said in spoilers and the episode summaries.
It's okay for Elena to get a pass when she was being controlled, but Bonnie being controlled and manipulated is not? You people in this fandom kill me, I swear. And Bonnie never tried to kill her mom, are you sure you watch this show? I'm pretty sure it was Jeremy that tried to kill Abby.
Are we talking about the same episode: 4x17: Because The Night? Because 5 people thumbs-upped you, and that's literally not what happened. You need to watch the whole thing again, because Silas flat tells her in their first two scenes that they need to get a coven of witches and kill them. He tells her they'll need to link their powers to each other, which means killing one means killing them all. Bonnie protests but tacitly agrees and ASKS FOR A BUNCH OF WITCHES. She full well knows what's going to happen, even if the coven thinks they're surprising her.
In the interest of giving you the benefit of the doubt, I watched the episode in its entirety and not just the specific meeting scene.
As it turns out, while I was right about the contents of the scene, I was definitely wrong about its meaning in the context of the episode. Bonnie did intend the meeting as a set-up.
That being said, my original point in this conversation was that Bonnie "didn't manage to do anything particularly bad or destructive" and that remains true. Bonnie failed so miserably in her attempt to endure those witches that the only person she was in danger of hurting or killing was herself. It wasn't until Caroline intervened that anything really bad happened.
Bonnie's an idiot because she can't do anything by herself in spite of being powerful. She's often led astray, without compulsion, and she messes up most of what she does. They at least give Elena a triumph moment every six or seven episodes, but everything you just mentioned in her favor, without exception, was somebody elses idea. And she screwed up half of it anyway.
And the Jeremy thing is a different episode than the Bonnie thing. Her mom and dad drug her and she magically kaboshes the whole thing. "Almost kills" is an overstatement looking back at the episode, but her whole arc at the time was her inability to control her expression magic, which she unleashed on her parents.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I'm not going to jump to the conclusion that Bonnie and her plan needs to be stopped. Not yet.
ReplyDeleteThis is the episode i have been waiting for
ReplyDeleteBonnie has been off her rockers the second she met professor Shane
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't mean she's wrong. Even when being manipulated by Shane and then Silas she didn't manage to do anything particularly bad or destructive.
ReplyDeleteCan someone please suggest they use a code word to make sure it's not Silas? Cause that would be hilarious.
ReplyDeleteHow about they call Silas `The First`
ReplyDeleteThat wouldn't work. He can get in their heads so he can get the code word.
ReplyDeleteExcept, you know, almost kill her mom and set up a dozen witches to be killed.
