It may not have been the best episode, but damn it Abeb-in-Jeff's-head if you weren't right, you found a way to make paintball cool again. Entertaining episode and ended up going down how I expected (although I expected it all to be in Abed's head instead of Jeff's). The writers may have been not to sure on how to handle some characters this season (like Pierce) but they nailed (not that way Dean!) Jeff perfectly.
It would've been cool to see how all the timelines were in the end tag, but alas oh well. Pierce... you deserved a better send off, but you're the one who wanted to leave so close to the end that you couldn't get a great send off.
Lastly, I don't hope this is the series finale, but it can work as a series finale if need be because it completes Jeff's journey from narcissistic lawyer to a caring (to a degree) individual. And regardless if this is the end, the fans will keep it in alive in their fan fiction or thoughts and minds. We're a community.
It's funny because it played out just as i said it will on a previous thread... I knew, deep inside, that they would not go full sci-fi. I really liked it and Season 5 must happen; i'm not ready to let this seven misfits go... At least not in this timeline... Overall i really liked the Season... I understood the changes and accepted them. The world is not perfect, we can't always get what we want; but we can do the best with the little we have. So, point being, you can complain all you want about this Season, but in the end, at least it was here and all 13 episodes were better and smarter than 90% of the sitcoms out there.
And if the show gets cancelled... Well, we all have kickstarter!
You did call a lot of it (so did I... just not written out like you). I liked that it was all in Jeff's head instead of Abed's (which was what I thought), which definitely centralized the story on Jeff and made sense why it was happening. I'm curious if Jeff will do both with helping the small firms and teach at Greendale. They're a community, friends, even without Pierce, they'll still hang out.
And I like that, the world isn't perfect and we can do the best with the little we have. At least the show was here, and I hope it'll still be here tomorrow.
And there should be a "reach this level for a Season 5" (if it gets cancelled) then there should be a "reach this level for a Season 5 with Dan Harmon."
I loved it. My heart is aching, just knowing this COULD be goodbye, but if this does turn out to be the darkest timeline, and if NBC really Brittas it up and doesn't renew... Then at least it was a fitting sendoff. I adored every minute: all the evil versions of the Greendale 7, so many gloriously quotable lines, and especially the reveal of just what's been going on in Jeff's mind, and how much he really has changed. (Preach it, imaginary Abed!) This episode reaffirmed everything we love about Community: goofiness, zaniness, brilliant creativity, and always plenty of heart. (Please, NBC, PLEASE, #SixSeasonsAndaMovie!!)
I loved it. I love the Darkest Timeline and I love all episodes that include it. And I loved the fact that it was all in Jeff's head - that gave everything additional meaning, starting from the appearance of the Darkest Timeline and ending with Kevin's sacrifice (that was a lovely touch). As per the blackboard at Jeff's graduation ceremony, SIX SEASONS AND A MOVIE!
I enjoyed it, and I'm really hoping for renewal. The season hasn't been the best (probably the worst of the 4) but it's still a lot better than most shows, even if they did ruin Abed a bit. Ah well.
Plot was sort of a mess, but the character moments were generally good, especially Jeff's internal turmoil over Annie and later his practical declaration of love.
There is only one phrase in the English language to properly describe Alison Brie's performance in that episode. In the immortal words of Jayne Cobb: "I'll be in my bunk."
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
They really should have left the Darkest Timeline a one off gag. 85% of this episode was stupid because of it.
ReplyDeleteThey redeemed themselves with the end, though, because that was so cute. Once again, I love Jeff's character development so much.
If that was the series finale, it was a good one. If it wasn't, Chevy's absence was easily explained.

ReplyDeleteDecent episode. Disappointed Britta and Jeff didn't get back together. Hopefully they will next season.
