SHIELD, Mixology, Super Fun Night, Resurrection and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland
ReplyDeleteAt least ABC aren't being stupid enough to put shuch a high concept such as 'Agents of SHEILD' on the Thursday night at 8:00 P.M. slot which has proven to be less than favourable, though I would have liked a 'Once Upon A Time' and 'Agents of SHEILD' pairing as both are family friendly.
ReplyDeleteI honestly think they will out Super Fun Night after ModFam.
ReplyDeleteWith Mixology and Super Fun Night's themes I feel like they might go to Friday and move last man after Mod Fam but thats a long shot.
ReplyDeletei think they'll put The Neighbours after Modern Family. why move LMS from friday when it has done well the past two seasons?
ReplyDeleteProbably to shake things up plus rating for it were down from it's first season. The Neighbors getting the post Mod Fam slot would be nice but I dont think it will get it. Probably a new comedy will be put there to launch it
ReplyDeleteMe too, or at least move it to 10pm, but I hope they Once where it is.
ReplyDeleteI think Shield will get the Tuesday at 8 slot. Either Influence or Killer Women will get the Tuesday at 10 slot. I also think Lucky 7 will get the Thursday at 8 slot. My last guess is that if Revenge stays on Sundays than Betrayal will get the Sunday at 10 slot.
ReplyDeleteAs long as Castle stays on Monday at 10pm, everything will be okay for me :)
ReplyDeleteI would be incredibly amazed if Grey's was moved at all - therefore Scandal wouldn't be moved either.
ReplyDeleteI think this is what ABC will do :
ReplyDeleteMonday : DWTS / Castle.
Tuesday : SHIELD / Super Fun Night / Mixology / Nashville
Wednesday : The Middle / The Goldbergs / Modern Family / Trophy Wife / Revenge
Thursday : Lucky 7 / Grey's Anatomy / Scandal
Friday : Last Man Standing / Back In The Game / Shark Tank / 20/20
Sunday : OUAT / Resurrection / Betrayal
Here's my bet :
ReplyDeleteONCE UPON A TIME
ONCE UPON A TIME: WONDERLAND
REVENGE
DWTS
DWTS
CASTLE
AGENTS OF S.H.I.EL.D.
SUPER FUN NIGHT / MIXOLOGY
LUCKY 7
THE MIDDLE / THE GOLDBERGS
MODERN FAMILY / TROPHY WIFE
BETRAYAL
NASHVILLE
GREY’S ANATOMY
SCANDAL
LAST MAN
STANDING / BACK IN THE GAME
THE SHARK TANK
20/20
Your schedule will not work on Sunday. Once Upon A Time in Wonderland is a limited run, stand-alone series that will be aired in OUAT's time slot when OUAT goes on winter hiatus.
ReplyDeleteThat's what they said initially but I'm not sure it's still true. None of the new dramas seem to be able to follow OUAT on Sundays other than its own spin-off (a shame Gothica was not picked up!). But who knows ? Maybe ABC will leave Revenge there and put something news behind or Nashville...
ReplyDeleteLast Man will likely stay on Friday and possibly again with a late start
ReplyDeleteno way does The Neighbours get the post MF slot, a new show will be going there.
ReplyDeleteI think they should rebuild Tuesday now that theres no DWTS Results show they could have SHIELD at 8 and have either 2 new dramas following or have 2 comedies at 9 and a drama at 10 or comedies at 8, Sheild at 9 and something new at 10.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is Revenge goes to 10pm Sunday
ReplyDeleteI think they will move it to 10pm and have 2 new limited series dramas (1 being Wonderland) time slot share the 9pm slot.
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody knows when ABC will tell his schedule for next year ? This afternoon or later ?
ReplyDeleteOUAT spin-off Thursdays at 8pm?!
ReplyDeleteSo Once Upon A Wonderland isn't being used as a companion piece to OUAT very unexpected.
ReplyDeleteHappy Agents of SHIELD is on Tuesday I feel better about it now.
Where is Suburgatory???
interesting schedule i though OUAT wonderland would be in OUAT's slot
ReplyDeleterisky doing an all new tuesday
ReplyDeleteRevenge at 9pm on Sundays, followed by Betrayal ? It'll be like a 666 Park Avenue failure all over again for the new drama, even though it's totally compatible...
ReplyDeleteThe Neighbors on Fridays is a pretty good idea !
But OUAT : Wonderland at 8am on Thursdays, i'm not really sure it'll work.
THURSDAY
ReplyDelete8:00 P.M - ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND
Uh-oh! Glad they didn't put SHEILD there!
Totally surprised with Super Fun Night getting the post mod fam slot, feels like Happy Endings all over again. Also surpised with OUATIW being on Thursdays Happy With Shield. Not surprised the placed Betrayal at Sundays at 10 and kept OUAT and Revenge as is. Sad about The Neighbors getting the Friday slot but I hope it survives. Where is Suburgatory and Mixology? Midseason?
ReplyDeleteOUAT in Wonderland is done!
ReplyDeleteKinda glad that none of my shows moved (Castle I figured wouldn't move and I kinda thought the same about OUAT but wasn't positive). Interesting that Wonderland is in the regular schedule instead of during Once's hiatus. And where the hell is Suburgatory? :(
ReplyDeleteSo does this mean OUaT in Wonderland premieres in the fall and not midseason?
ReplyDeleteyep
ReplyDeleteThe only surprise about this schedule is that it lacks Suburgatory... could ABC be thinking about shorter seasons or putting it in the schedule after one of the new sitcoms fails miserably?
ReplyDeleteAnd here I was thinking the point of Once in Wonderland was to fill in Once during the awards season. Seeing it getting stuck at Thursday at 8PM is just.. what are you thinking ABC?
ReplyDeleteOnce and Revenge staying where they are.. what about fixing Sundays and moving Revenge? It will both help Revenge and help Sundays.
So, Resurrection is apparently one of the pilots ABC are most excited about and yet they schedue it to midseason where it'll most likely fail? Thanks ABC.
ABC and the CW are the two networks I watch the most, but I actually prefer CW to ABC because of ABC's constantly messy schedules.
And Ressurection is likely to take its place in January... Epic fail.
ReplyDelete8am is a bit early ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd what about Resurrection?
ReplyDeleteYay! SHIELD is on Tuesdays at 8! Sucks that Once Upon a Time in Wonderland is in the death slot and Resurrection is for mid-season. :(
ReplyDeleteI hate this schedule, kinda. Many poor choices I think. And what happened with the plan for the OUaT spinoff? That was a much better idea.
ReplyDeleteYes it is ! My mistake :p
ReplyDeleteMidseason, sadly.
ReplyDeleteDid they cancel the DWTS results show?
ReplyDeleteWait till The CW releases it's line up, I'm pretty sure heads will turn
ReplyDeleteThey still won't air episodes against award shows and make me scratch my head.. I think we will see them breaking the Arrow\SPN combo though.
ReplyDeleteABC annoy me when they sorta assasain their own shows. It's true that both Revenge and Once had storylines issues this year, but their ratings would've still been higher at this point imo had they were not aired during Feb sweeps.
OUAT in Wonderland off to the death slot? Not feeling confident about it.
ReplyDeleteNashville and Revenge sticking in their timeslot? I would have swap them.
SHIELD on Tuesdays could work
I won't be able to watch the once upon a time spinoff since It will be up against the Vampire Diaires.I thought this was suspose to fill the gap when Once Upon a Time was off.
ReplyDeleteAs for agents of Shield Me watching It will conflict with second half of Pretty Little liars+Haloween episode Inless ABC family moves It after first half fo season
1:After pilot Joss Whedon may have little to no involvemnet
2:I really didn't care for Iron Man 3
3:It has no characters so far from actual marvel comics.Coulson was ceated for Iron Man films and him In It doesn't excite m as others.
If Ouat ratings fall after that 3.5 month hiatus don't be surprised if the excuses come rolling out that it's because of that said hiatus!
ReplyDeleteWho knows what the CW will do anymore? I doubt they even care at this point.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you!
ReplyDeleteDear Lord, ABC is such a crappy network. --'
ReplyDeleteColor me happy for CASTLE stays at same day and time slot. After last night's ending to the season finale, teary eyed. I am counting the days for the Season 6 premiere.
ReplyDeleteLooks like ABC will own me 3 straight days out of the week now w/ Scandal, SHIELD and Modern Family!!!
ReplyDeleteOh dear... Once and Revenge are still on Sunday nights. :( That means more sleepless Sundays and grumpy Mondays. Bloody time zones...
ReplyDeleteI did as well and I still believe that is a much better idea. I also question ABC's decision to put SHIELD against NCIS.
ReplyDeleteMy Sundays and Mondays are a nightmare, I cant help but stay up in the early hours to watch episodes of Revenge, Castle, Continuum etc and so I am miserably tired the rest of the week :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat month does Once usually start, i only started watching it at christmas so i have never had the big wait before
ReplyDeleteUsually last week of September
ReplyDeleteIt's going up against NCIS'S and Its been proven that CBS always Dominates Tuesdays with NCIS'S
ReplyDeleteIt started in November in its first season, this season its started in the last day of September
ReplyDeleteThey are crazy for keeping them there. But at least they will go on a break.
ReplyDeleteNashville would crash Sundays at 9, way below Revenge's levels. Revenge should have moved but that was not the solution.
ReplyDeleteYes. Finally. By far the best move of the entire ABC schedule
ReplyDeleteNo, it wasn't. Airing the OUAT spinoff against the events season without any sort of lead-in or established audience was the worst idea ever. I don't know how people even thought of that.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry but whatever troubles the Thursday deathslot has, I am 100% sure it is WAY WAY better than the awards season on Sunday! Ouat and Revenge could not take it and they had a season and a half under their belts! Do you think a new show, which presumably would start airing in January could tak on the globes, the ncfl and the grammys just like that?! Without a lead-in or even without a proper lead-out companion show (since revenge would presumably also go on hiatus!). That was one of the worst ideas people ever had IMO. Thursdays at 8 is not perfect, but it has a shot - it would have a 0.5% chance stuck on sundays in awards season... That's exactly what reality filler is for.
ReplyDeleteOther than that, I hate that they have left Revenge and OUAT on Sundays, really do. They should have swapped Mondays and Sundays!
I agree very much with OUAT and Revenge. I think Revenge's problems were blown out of proportion to be honest. The second half of the season particularly was mind blowingly good IMO. OUAT I agree more. But it cannot be a coincidence that the falls started in awards season... Sure, quality didn't help but scheduling has most of the blame.
ReplyDeleteI hope the CW doesn't break the arrow/supernatural combo.
The latter I would say. I would be surprised if at least one out of the 4 new comedies doesn't bomb... I expect to see Suburgatory back on the schedule by January the latest, probably by November sweeps even
ReplyDeleteLikely to replace a failed comedy as soon as it bombs
ReplyDeleteI think it is not as linear as that, we shall see
ReplyDeleteI guess I understand them wanting to avoid New Girl as it probably appeals to the same young audiences that Super Fun Night is going for but it definitely weakens the Wednesday block which should be family only. I don't see why how to live wasn't kept there and given a chance to grow to be honest.
ReplyDeleteI hate that revenge had to stay on sundays :/
ReplyDeleteThat was their best move of the entire schedule IMO, about damn time! Although I would flip the comedies and Shield
ReplyDeleteWhy would that be a better idea, excuse me? Why would you think that OUAT, an established show with a build-in audience, is not able to tackle awards season, but that a brand new shows, presumably with 4 episodes under its belt maximum (since it would premiere in January) would be able to face the awards season by itself without lead-in or lead-out support? Please explain that logic to me and how it is, in any way, better than Thursdays at 8.
ReplyDeleteIt is not such a terrible idea as I may sound, although I would have paired it with Shield and put a low profile thing in there which, IMO, is what the slot needs.
ReplyDeleteWhy would you put Shield against The Walking Dead, Football and Game of Thrones?
ReplyDeleteI would have swapped it to be honest. Give Shield the highest PUT hour at 9 thus maximizing its viewing levels potential and hope for an hallo effect both on the 8pm and the 10pm drama. The comedies would also have a better chance of succeeding at 8 against the unproven fox comedies than they have against new girl and the voice IMO. And the 10pm drama would have a better lead in.
ReplyDeleteLMS was only on Fridays for a single season so far.
ReplyDeleteI'm just thinking in terms of what a perfect combination of shows! You're right though I wouldn't do tajay
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed. Otherwise I read on TVLine that it'll most likely come back in the winter after the new comedies finish their runs (usually 13 episodes).
ReplyDeleteAnnnnnnd I was right :-)
ReplyDeleteWonderland does have a built-in audience. That's the entire point of a spinoff. That's why networks love them. Award season is not nearly as important or obtrusive as you are making it out to be. It's certainly not as important as repeat weeks, which ABC would be smarter to cut down on with their serialized programs (like OUAT & Wonderland) rather than running them concurrently.
ReplyDelete1. ABC has already announced that they will cut down OUAT. It will run with 2 uniterrumpted cycles (as will Revenge, Grey's and Scandal). OUAT is actually the only one who has the replacement already - it is a reality filler created by the amazing race producers, I don't remember the name.
ReplyDelete2. How is it that a spin-off has the built-in audience to withstand awards season but OUAT does not?
3. How am I making awards season more obtrusive than it is? Data:
OUAT and Revenge Ratings this Season:
3.9-3.2
3.4-2.6
3.0-2.6
3.3-2.8
3.4-2.7
3.5-2.7
2.7-2.5
3.1-2.2
3.1-2.4
3.1-2.4
So, during its first 10 episodes, excluding premiere highs, they have flucuted within the 2.7-3.5 and 2.2-2.8 range. However, the low points were only achieved once and were far below previous results (especially for OUAT) and did not show any trendy signs as ratings went right back up the following weeks. If you exclude them you get ranges of 3.1-3.5 and 2.4-3.8. Also, neither one of them showed a declining trend (as in ratings were having normal fluctuations but were actually pretty stable and not declining, especially in OUAT's case).
Then, awards season:
2.8-2.0 (against the globes: season low for Revenge, near season low for OUAT) -10% and -17%
2.4-1.7 (against NFL: season low for both) -14% and -15% (-23% and -29% from before awards season)
2.2-1.4 (against Grammys: season low for both): -8% and -18% (-29% and -42% from before awards season)
So, shows that had, in 3 months (10 episodes) fallen 9% and 8% respectively from their post-premiere numbers (2x02), suddenly fell 29% and 42% in the space of three freaking weeks!!! Say what you may about quality and I agree that had the shows had better seasons creatively, the audience would have returned in greater strenght but the shows tripled and quadrupled, respectively, the declines that they had in 3 months in the space of three weeks! They were able to only very very partially recover from those gains, but remained very weak. So explain to me why is it that I am exaggerating on the effects of awards season
Ah ok then ;) I would watch that too then!
ReplyDeleteI am sure they will! I will still say it was the best strategy for a Sunday (a tuesday move would have been the solution for both it and Revenge)
ReplyDeleteI am not sure that would solve the Sundays issue. Sundays should be reality or procedurals in my opinion. Throwing more serialized shows in there won't solve it IMO. I do believe the split seasons and avoiding the awards season will be a significant help but I still maintain that it is not a friendly day for serialized shows with everything that goes on in cable.
ReplyDeleteThat's not award season's doing. That's people tuning out because the quality of the show steadily went downhill all season.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry but that is illogical. That would be the case if there was a downward trend! But why would the drops freaking TRIPLE in the space of three weeks only? Listen, had the show's ratings been something like:
ReplyDelete3.9
3.4
3.2
3.0
3.0
2.8
2.7
2.5
2.5
2.3
I would give you all the reason in the world!! But don't you find it odd that both shows were pretty stable (8% and 9% after the second episode drops in the space of 9 episodes is very stable) and then, it just happened, by coincidence that the insane drops happened during awards season? Was it just a coincidence? You seriously can't believe that!
Yes, I can and I do. What I can't believe is that you would seriously put so much stock in the ratings of one show on one network and simply decide the culprit is awards season, a reason that no analyst or network executive ever gives for ratings drops like these.
ReplyDeleteI can't be bothered to actually look at more ratings history, but I do remember that even DH took some hits during its last seasons from awards season. Also, in this case it is two shows, rather than one show. I would maybe understand programming against the globes to get a 3 week running or whatever, but the three events at once, especially the grammys, is suicidal IMO. Yeah sure, a MEGA hit like DH held up just fine in its first seasons. So OUAT and Revenge are not MEGA hit status like DH - I accept that. But they are the hits that ABC has now so it should treat them better. Also, DH was way less serialized than any of these two shows is.
ReplyDeleteI still can't understand how it is that you think that the time of drop being the same as awards season is just a coincidence. I think we will have to agree to disagree here, I don't think I can convince you but I am pretty set on my opinion here. And actually, ABC appears to back me up since they have also went with two 12 episodes run, thus avoiding awards season (although I suspect this might be due to the Olympics as well this year, since scandal and grey's are doing the same)
I also think we are going to have to agree to disagree. As for the 12 ep. block programming, seeing as how other networks have attempted the "split season" method of airing some of their programs to extremely mixed results, I wouldn't say that ABC is backing you up as much as they are rolling the dice.
ReplyDeleteWell, as we've both said, agree to disagree ;)
ReplyDeletehmmm... Castle @ 10pm?? a little bit too late. It's a risk for their viewers ratings to fall next season.
ReplyDeleteThat is what time they have been along. It is 10 east & Pacific 9 Central.
ReplyDeleteCastle has always been a 10pm show.
ReplyDeleteI'd love an uninterrupted run of 10/11 weeks OUAT, 13 weeks of OUATiW and then the final 11/12 weeks of OUAT.
ReplyDeleteIn other words I'd be happy to have a 3.5 month hiatus In OUAT if it means we get two uninterrupted chunks.
Now if I were in charge I'd have
Sunday:
8: OUAT
9: Agents of SHIELD
10: Revenge
If Grey's & Scandal move to 8pm & 9pm, respectively, ABC should put it after Scandal. If not, Revenge should definitely move back to Wednesdays as it was doing well in that time-slot 2 years ago.
ReplyDeletePlease ABC.. Don't kill "Agents of SHIELD" and "Mind Games" like you did with "Last Resort", "V", "Flashforward", "Day Break", "Invasion" and many others!
ReplyDeleteIt should come out mid-afternoon eastern time zone.
ReplyDelete
